This combo is capable of stopping any Speed boosting sweeper dead on its tracks. Threats that Alakazam couldn't handle before, such as Volcarona, Double Dance Thundurus-T, Dragon Dance Dragonite with Multiscale active, Dragon Dance Gyarados, and Double Dance Landorus-T (i know that moves such as Hidden Power Ice and Thunder Wave can deal with some of those Pokemon, but not with all at the same time), are taken care of by setting up Trick Room as the opponent attacks, dealing a hit before dying (you are slower than the opponent and thus will play first under Trick Room), and then leaving the rest of the job for Conkeldurr to finish, which gets three turns to wreck havoc, often enough to clean up late-game. Conkeldur and Alakazam also have great synergy, as Conkeldur happily switches into common answers to Zam, such as Ferrothorn, Blissey, and Chansey, while Alakazam scares out many of the fast special attackers that threaten Conkeldurr, namely Latios, Latias, Hydreigon, Gengar, Starmie, and Keldeo, while also luring and weakening Celebi with Singal Beam, a good check to Conkeldurr if it carries Psychic. All in all, great combo that shields offensive teams by any Speed boosting threats while also being quite difficult to wall as well.
