ou first ou team on Smoogon

background
hi i am videogambeas1. i like ubers a lot but i decided to make an ou team since it is the most played tier. this team i edited multiple times played with evs of poke to see what works best. some evs may be strange which i understand. I really like this team cause it is fun but not really good hopefully you guys on smogon can help me improve it
team

Politoed @ Choice Specs
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Perish Song
i use the choice specs variant since it packs a punch. i use to set up rain since rain is easiest whether to use and abuse obviously. i use hydro pump as my main stab. i use ice beam as good coverage on dragon and flying types. focus blast is mainly for t-tar but it can work for many other pokes. i use bulky specs so most people think i am a defensive polited.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Protect
- Spikes
Ferrathorn is my main physical wall it takes physical hits very well. I use leftovers as way to recover hp each turn. power whip is for Gastro since my team is kinda weak to it. I use leech seed as a way to recover hp. I use Protect to leech seed stall, spikes are a way to get extra damage off non flying types. This is my main physical tank

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 52 Def / 248 HP / 8 Atk/ Spd 200
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
landrous t is my balanced wall with itemdiate it can handle terrakion which threatens my team. stealth rock is used to Support my team. u-turn is a way to gain momentum . stone edge is a way to give me better coverage. Earthquake is my main Stab move. I use leftovers to recover hp at end of each turn

Scizor @ Leftovers
Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 HP / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Roost
this is a special defensive scizor when i looked a scizor defenses they weren't that bad it just needed investment in its weaker defense. i use bullet punch as a Stab move and a way to have prioty. I use bug bite as a second Stab move. i use sword dance to boost my attack since i do not have much attack investment. i use roost so scizor can survive for a longer amount of time.

Keldeo-Resolute @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Surf
then i realized this team is quite slow and lacks ability to abuse my weather outside of fire being weakened and pollited. keldo is reliable since it has sacred sword so blisey and chansey are no longer threats to my team. surf is a reliable stab move and hydro pump is my more powerful stab move and hp ice is there to hit flying and dragon types.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 224 SDef / 252 HP / 32 Spd
Careful Nature
- Body Slam
- Iron Head
- Wish
- Protect
this my special tank on my team. it helps by being able to paralyze foes and iron head then to para flinch the poke to death which jirachi is famous for in the competitive community. i use wish to recovery my pokes that do not have recovery and badly need it. prtect is a way to scout.

Threats:
Major:
Latias

specially sub calm mind latias. usally i try to catch it in one of landos u-turns then go into Keldo to go for hp ice.
Latios

latios is the same kinda threat as Latias but is easier to deal with esppecially sub calm mind

Baton pass: although it is not common it wrecks my team unless my szicor gets up a sd it is a pain to deal with
Minor:

Vensaur: if the sun is up it is a pain to deal with my plan is to keep rain up against vena so it does not have such a high speed

Hey there.
It is a very interesting rain team that you have there, I appreciate much your team but I see some weakness, you are totally weak against Suns teams, Venusaure can do a lot of damages because it is usually played with Growth, Ninetales can also be dangerous because it can Will o Wisp/Toxic politoed and win Weather War by rotating, you will be very disadvantaged, I notice that you have Scizor + Jirachi, but I don't understand why you have Scizor because Jirachi did very well his Job and then you have Landorus-T for Terrakion, and Ferrothorn also, then I notice that you are also very weak to Thundurus-T and Keldeo especially Ebelt version, I suggest you to put Latias LO over Scizor, Latias is a good pokemon to your team, it can easily come on Venusaure and Ninetales, but on Keldeo and Thundurus-T also, because it has a good bulk + Recover, and it can also do big damage with Dracometeor + Psyshock, then with Surf you can now come on Heatran stall because ' it can use Toxic on politoed/Keldeo and weaken them every time.

You say you are weak to Latias sub cm, it is true because latias sub cm is played in defensive form to take an Iron head of Jirachi under sub, but why not to put Evs in Atk to break the Substitute? You have already Ferrothorn so you do not have to put a lot of investment in Spedef, I suggest you swap your spread with this "EVs: 172 HP / 196 Atk / 140 SDef Careful Nature (+ SDef, - SAtk)" with this spread you have more chances to break the sub to latias, and you keep your bulk to come on Reuniclus/Tornadus ect... then you has Protect + Wish to heal easily. (196 Atk Jirachi Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 216 + Def Latias: 84-99 (23.07 - 27.19%) - possible 5HKO).

Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 84 HP / 172 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Recover
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor
- Surf

I hope I helped and good luck with your team.

Hey videogamebeas1

Your team has a lot of trouble getting past Jellicent. It completely walls Politoed, Keldeo, Jirachi, and Scizor and beats Ferrothorn and Landorus-T with a Will-o-Wisp/Scald burn. Jellicent is usually a good check to Scarf Keldeo and Expert Belt Keldeo but falls to Calm Mind Keldeo. Therefore, I suggest changing your Scarf Keldeo to a Calm Mind set with Calm Mind / Hydro Pump / Secret Sword / Hidden Power Ghost. HP Ghost is the chosen coverage move on this set to hit Jellicent, Celebi, and Latias hard. This Keldeo sets up in front up Jellicent and then takes it out with HP Ghost. I'd use a Lum Berry so you avoid Toxic/Will-o-Wisp once.

Removing your Scarf Keldeo opens up a new weakness to Quiver Dance Volcarona. Volcarona has several of setup opportunities against your team, namely on Politoed locked into Ice Beam or Focus Blast, Ferrothorn, Scizor, and Jirachi if you don't get the Body Slam flinch or Volc has a Lum Berry. After a dance, he outspeeds your entire team and can easily clean. Your team also has a bit of trouble against opposing Keldeos who can spam Hydro Pump for massive damage and Secret Sword to hit Ferrothorn. To patch up both of these weakness, try a Substitute Dragon Dance Gyarados over Scizor. Gyarados resists both Volcarona's STABs and Keldeo's STABs and can set up against them. He has good bulk while still providing you with that physical sweeper role currently held by Scizor.

Good luck with your team

Sets:

Keldeo @ Lum Berry
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Ghost]

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 88 HP / 248 Atk / 4 SDef / 168 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Bounce
