OU Gravity Team

The idea of this team is rapidly setting off gravity , using one of 3 pokemon and then fire off powerful moves, e.g. Porygon Z's Zap Cannon, or Starmie's Hydro Pump. Starmie, Porygon Z, Azelf and Metagross are the main offensive threat, while Starmie and Metagross support though Trick and Stealth Rock respectively. Clefable and Togekiss are the main support, providing healing and status removal, along with status inflicting and more set up between them. This team hasnt been tested fully due to Shoddy not having HG/SS moves up yet, but I would want to know any advice on the team, such as improvements to EV's, movesets etc.
I will go more indepth on each pokemon's roles after some initial ratings, thank you all for helping

*Lead: Starmie
Nature: Timid
Ability:
Natural Cure
EV’s:
Speed:252
Special Attack:252
HP:4
Item:
Choice Specs
Attacks:
Gravity
Hydro Pump
Thunder
Trick
Starmie's main job as lead is to either cripple an opposing lead with Trick, set off a first turn Gravity or attack(less of an option due to accuracy). Obviously in an unfavourable match up it will switch, usually to Clefable or Metagross. Once it's initial job/s are done it is pretty much a special sweeper, achieving fairly decent coverage.
Clefable.png

*Support: Clefable
Nature:
Bold
Ability:
Magic Guard
EV’s:
HP:252
Defence:148
Special Defence:108
Item:
Toxic Orb
Attacks:
Trick
Gravity
Seismic Toss
Heal Bell
Clefable is the 'cleric' of the team removing status from the rest of team(this will usually happen after Tricking away the Orb). It's other uses are Gravity user and source of steady damage through Seismic Toss. Nothing else to really add to this set.

*Entry Hazard/Tank: Metagross
Nature:
Adamant
EV’s:
HP:200
Attack: 140
Defence:72
Speed:96
Item:
Leftovers
Attacks:
Stealth Rock
Meteor Mash
Explosion
Earthquake
Metagross' primary use is to set up Stealth Rock safely then proceed to take physical hits, while dishing out it's own fairly powerful ones back. Explosion is to remove Pokemon which could trouble the set(Based on my typings, Dark,Fighting and Electric cause a reasonable problem). This also is a good pokemon to switch to to absorb toxic when Clefable is unavailable.

*Mixed Sweeper: Azelf
Nature:
Rash
EV’s:
Attack: 32
Special Attack: 224
Speed:252
Item:
Life Orb
Attacks:
Explosion
Fire Blast
Thunder
Psychic
Azlef pretty much stays in after a Gravity and tries to KO as much as possible, the nature and EV's providing powerful Explosions while keeping high Special Attack to trouble physical walls. After 2 or 3 attacks Azelf will usually find its way to an Explosion. This could also work as a lead, disgiused as a normal Azelf lead, luring a switch or Taunt as it unleashes its powerful special moves.

*Special Sweeper: Porygon Z
Nature:
Modest
Ability:
Download
EV’s:
Special Attack:252
Speed:252
Special Defence:4
Item:
Salac Berry
Attacks:
Gravity
Zap Cannon
Dark Pulse
Tri Attack
Porygon Z is mainly used for when Starmie has fainted, or when it gets a chance for a free switch(caused by Starmie or Clefable usually) From Gravity, Zap Cannon becomes an effective attack, being powerful and causing status, more often due to the added accuracy, once a pokemon is paralyzed STAB Tri Attack coves most pokemon (except Rocks,Steels and Ghosts, 2 of which will be handled easily by Dark Pulse). The Item choice is used mainly for stacking up residual damage from switches,
Togekiss.png

*Wish Passer/Special Wall: Togekiss
Nature:
Calm
Ability:
Serene Grace
EV’s:
HP:108
Special Attack:168
Special Defence:128
Speed:104
Item:
Leftovers
Attacks:
Wish
Thunder Wave
Air Slash
Substitute/Protect
Togekiss is used to annoy. It can Wish for its team or itself, with Protect or Substitute being used to help pull it off successfully. After this it uses the annoying ParaFlinch to slow down most non-Ground type pokemon, aslong as Thunder Wave is pulled off. Togekiss is designed to take the Special Attacks the rest of the team cannot take.

I been looking through the team and have came to the conclusion that Porygon Z or Togekiss could be taken out, however I am not sure what can replace one or both of them, while keeping the Gravity theme. Also are there any desperate changes in the EV's and Moves of the existing pokemon.

I might sound stupid but I don't understand the strategy in gravity here. Either that or you didn't even mention it.

Gravity is basically used to cause high power/low accuracy moves to hit far more often while stopping levitating, and flying pokemon form being airbourne, this latter effect i havent got round to fully dealing with yet.
But the strategy is swift sweeping with the high power moves while gravity is active.

I don't think this team really does a very good job of taking advantage or Gravity. Quite notably several of your pokemon could boost their offenses, or simply attack, and do more damage than they could with Gravity. You need to look to take advantage of that removal of immunity to ground attacks more, since this is currently working against you.

I would suggest that you put Metagross in the lead position to set up SR and/or Gravity instead of using a specs Starmie, who will become locked into a move and will be setup bait, as well as having an issue with sashed leads. Starmie could be left as a late-game cleaner with a Life Orb.

In order to deal with your ground weakness, which may allow something like Mamoswine to run straight through your team under Gravity, I would suggest the use of a Shaymin. Shaymin can take advantage of Gravity well too, since it increases Seed Flare's mediocre accuracy, increases the coverage of earth power, and makes Grasswhistle a very viable option. Celebi can also do a similar job.

Porygon-Z will rarely be able to set up Gravity due to poor defenses. Therefore you should consider using another coverage move (or even a boosting move since this will be more useful if you get the chance) instead, or using another bulkier gravity user.

I would suggest reading this guide here if you haven't done so already, although remember that much of it is a little outdated

Also noticed this
This team hasnt been tested fully due to Shoddy not having HG/SS moves up yet,
They have been available for quite some time. You must select Smogon University when you make a new team instead of Standard Metagame for them to be available in the team builder. Note that you should also always test a team fully before posting.
Good luck

You need a grass type. Without one, your team dies to ground attacks. Celebi/Porygon-z gives you bulk Porygon lacks.

Also, your Clefable is outclassed by Blissey. Also, your Togekiss is outclassed by Blissey. Run Wishbliss with Heal Bell and Gravity to free a moveslot.

...For Mamoswine. EQ/Ice Shard/Stone Edge/Ice Fang hits everything for neutral damage under Gravity, which is very good. imo.

Your team is pretty venerable to Spikes. Run a spinner. Forretress/Metagross would work, also setting up Gravity and Spikes (which Gravity teams love)

I agree with using Metagross as a lead instead, and using Starmie purely as a Choice user. But in terms of using Blissey I disagree, it's more a hatred towards it that will stop me considering it, and with Magic Guard Clefable is arguably better a decent ammount of the time. What would people suggest for a bulkier Gravity user, along with other Grass options?
Thanks so far for help
