OU Hail team

I'm fairly new to Pokemon in general and decided to make a Hail team because I hate being standard and Hail seems fairly nonstandard. Had some decent success with it (Jolteon is a beast at +1!). Im sure it could be made simply better.

FrostyTheSnowman (Abomasnow) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Snow Warning
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Ice Shard
- Blizzard
- Giga Drain

This guy sucks and gets OHKOed by everything. If something else, anything else, could use Snow Warning, I'd use that pokemon. But I need my Hail. If its hailing you may as well use Blizzard. Giga Drain is the secondary stab. HP fire to roast Steels that this dude seems to attract. Ice Shard is to hopefully kill a weakened Dragon that has danced. I use a scarf because this guy is just slow enough that he needs it to get hits on non-scarfers.

Purple (Espeon) (F) @ Light Clay
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Bold Nature
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Duel Screens are nice. Bouncing Stealth Rocks back at my opponent is nice. Espeon is also a magnet for steels it seems. Originally I used Shadow Ball to no success so I switched to HP Fire. Psyshock is stab. It hits most fighting types on their better defense but the extra damage it does to Blissey/Chancey is totally worth it. Quite often I'll lead something and then switch into Espeon on the first turn and bounce rocks/spikes back. I like Espeon

Kitten (Jolteon) (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Charge Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Wish

Jolteon hits like a truck. Fast as a race car too. Thunderbolt hurts everything that doesn't resist it. Shadow Ball hits everything Thunderbolt cannot. Charge Beam is for try to gets a SA boost on a weak pokemon. I put wish in spot 4 because I needed a way to get back life orb damage. Jolteon does alright behind dual screens so can usually get the wish off. I could use a HP of something else though. Not sure what

215px-205Forretress.png

Castle (Forretress) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 140 Def / 116 SDef
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Rapid Spin
- Spikes
- Earthquake
- Gyro Ball

My spinner. My spiker. My dragon check. Earthquake is just a great attack to have. This poke is slow as molasses in a hail storm so I use Gyro ball as a steel stab. Overall this pokemon is probably the one I am most willing to get rid of for something else. He does the job I need decently but it could use improvement.

160px-242Blissey.png

OPPinkBlob (Blissey) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Softboiled
- Blizzard
- Toxic
- Wish

This is a standard Blissey set basically. I use Blizzard because its a hail team and Blissey's fairly meh SA could use the power boost. A Blissey wish heals everything to full. Softboiled for a more instant heal. Toxic rounds the set out to spread the evil poison. I net alot of surprise KO's on Gliscors and dragons with Blizzard on this girl.

286Breloom.png

DrugsAreBad (Breloom) (F) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Mach Punch
- Spore
- Focus Punch
- Substitute

I like the spore/sub-punch combo that Breloom brings to the table. It hits so hard! Everyone expects technician now and I even played around with it to zero success so I went to sub punch. Best move ever. I swept with a lead Breloom. I had no idea what to do with move slot 4 and just picked mach punch. It leaves me totally walled by ghosts though it hasn't been a big issue yet. I could use Stone Edge I guess.

Overall I have had mixed success with this team. Usually when I do good its on the backs of Espeon, Jolteon and Breloom. Spore is just amazing. So is Magic Bounce.

Would love to get some feedback from people better at this then I!

Hi there.
The team is mainly built randomly, you should read some guide on this forum, now i m on telephone, later i ll link you it. If you want to use a magic bouncer you dont need a spinner. I d suggest you to use Xatu>Espeon, so u have more bulkyness and earthquake resistor, so forretress is useless, enter jirachi witch can set rocks and can help u versus dragon types pokemons. You also replace loom s mach punch with other STAB seed bomb and hit more things. Now have a weakness against fire types, so an heatran can help you, o if u want to be more offensive i d suggest u some pike like Victini or Volcarona. Cjange jolteon s set in : hidden power ice- voltswitch- thunderbolt- shadowball/ signal beam, so u have boltbeam coverage and use his offensive power (wish and charge beam are useless cause is not a bulky pokemon). U should restart to build and read a guide as i told u. Hope i helped, bye

Hi Orcasgt22

Interesting team you have built here, it's nice to see players using an underrated play style such as Hail and unconventional sets such as Charge Beam Jolteon. One thing I notice right away though, is that your team does not really benefit from the presence of Hail despite packing an Abomasnow. The only advantages you're gaining from Hail are the 100% accurate Blizzards for Abomasnow and Blissey and the ability to cancel out opponent's weather. I suggest replacing your Choice Scarf Abomasnow with a Life Orb Mamoswine with a moveset of Ice Shard / Icicle Spear / Earthquake / Superpower. Life Orb Mamoswine is a major powerhouse with its massive Attack stat and its anti-metagame qualities. It usually packs enough of a punch with just a Life Orb which allows it to switch up moves and not be locked in with a Choiced item. Priority Ice Shard allows you to pick off opposing Dragon-types, Therian forms, and Breloom and Icicle Spear is a nifty attack to hit Pokemon behind Substitutes. Earthquake is a powerful move to spam when your opponent has no Flying-types or Levitatators and Superpower is mainly used to hit Rotom-W. Mamoswine also forms one of the best offensive cores in the game with Breloom with each being able to handle threats that would give the other trouble. Mamoswine deals with Lati@s, Dragonite, and the Therian forms while Breloom takes care of Terrakion and bulky Waters.

One of the major threats to your team is Quiver Dance Volcarona. After a single Quiver Dance, Volcarona outspeeds your entire team an hits very hard with its combination of Bug Buzz and Fire-type STAB. The only thing you have that can possibly handle it is Blissey but most teams that use Volcarona are packing threats to take care of Blissey and other dedicated Special walls. For this threat, I suggest replacing Blizzard on Blissey with Stealth Rock. Stealth Rock severely cripples Volcarona by stripping the moth of 50% of her HP on switchin and is a great move to use on any team due to the large number of top OU threats that are weak to it such as Dragonite, Tornadus-T, and Thundurus-T. If you make the switch from Abomasnow to Mamoswine, Blizzard becomes too unreliable to use and Blissey does not need it. Mamoswine easily handles the Gliscors and Dragon-types Blizzard is meant to hit. When making this change, place the 4 Special Attack EVs on Blissey into Special Defense.

Now for some smaller changes. For Jolteon, you mentioned you could use an HP of some sort and I recommend replacing Wish with Hidden Power [Ice]. Even with dual screens up, Jolteon is just too frail to be trying to heal itself with Wish or provide Wish passing support and Blissey already handles your team's Wish support much more efficiently. Alternatively, he is much better used as a cleaner especially once getting a +1 Special Attack boost from Charge Beam. HP Ice is the best choice in terms of coverage as it allows you to hit the Ground-types that are immune to your Electric STAB. Lastly, change Espeon's nature from Bold to Timid to maximize her speed. This is important as being able to outspeed her opponent and set up a Reflect to take a physical attack results in receiving less damage than being outsped by her opponent and receiving an attack with a Defense boosting nature. Max speed will typically allow you to get both screens up before Espeon goes down.

Hope I helped and good luck with your team!
