OU Heavy Offense Team 4th Gen, wanna go 5th Gen

Evening all, I am a former regular on shoddy, and back in 4th I used a Heavy Offense team that looked like this:

373.gif
230.gif
448.gif
248.gif
212.gif

Now I'm looking into competitve battling in Gen 5. I want a team with basically the same plan of action (screen up, set up, pummel ass, rinse and repeat) but I don't know many of the new pokemon.

Here's my team so far based on what I've seen testing out on pokemon online.

0bIcI+2RXIIAAAAASUVORK5CYII=

Deoxys-S @Light Clay
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Sdef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
Ability: Pressure
-Magic Coat
-Reflect
-Light Screen
-Stealth Rock

I chose Deoxys-S over Azelf, mainly because it used to be an uber, and its stupidly fast!!
I have returned to Dual Screens, after finding the anti lead variant totally underwhelming.

373.gif

Salamence @Life Orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 6 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
Ability: Intimidate
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Fire Blast
-Dragon Dance

Physical Salamence is godly, if he sets up 2 DDs, nothing but steel can
withstand even a single hit form him! That said, I have been considering
Garchomp now he's out of Uber category. This is the same set up I used
in 4th Gen, but why change perfection eh?

212.gif

Scizor @Life Orb
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SpD
Adamant Nature
Ability: Technician
-Bullet Punch
-Bug Bite
-Superpower
-Swords Dance

Scizor is also awesome, and because of Technician and Life Orb making
Bullet Punch awesome, he doesn't need to worry about speed. Bug bite is
good STAB and Superpower is for Steel types. Finally, SD is what makes
him fit the team dynamic.

640.gif

Virizion @Life Orb
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
-Close Combat
-Stone Edge
-Leaf Blade
-Swords Dance

I have now added SD Virizion, which I had never considered before because of my lack of 5th gen knowledge, but now enjoy using rather a lot. I think these attacks give nice coverage, and SD just makes him awesome, as with the rest of my team

091.gif

Cloyster @Life Orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
Ability: Skill Link
-Icicle Spear
-Rock Blast
-Hydro Pump
-Shell Smash

Another new addition, and an amazing one at that! With Skill Link, all of its multi-hit moves will have a combined power of 125. As if that's not enough, Icicle Spear also gets STAB, increasing to 187 power. It will deal a huge amount of damage to anything not resistant to Ice. Rock Blast deals with Fire and Ice types.

579.gif

Reuniclus @Life Orb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SAtk
Quiet Nature
Ability: Magic Guard
-Psyshock
-Focus Blast
-Shadow Ball
-Trick Room

Ok, Reuniclus for late game sweeping as suggested below :) I think the set is pretty self explanatory, hit them with trick room, then psyshock if theyre special walls, or just for STAB, and the other 2 for those resistant to psychic.

Thanks in advance!

Oh man 5 pokes, two of which are banned... Awesome... You should look into the banlist first dude and add a sixth poke before you post an RMT. Trade Deoxys for Deoxys-S which isn't banned and works better for a lead, and replace Blaziken with something like Heatran as you also have no dedicated special attackers.

You might want to reflect on this and change around the post a bit. Also maybe expand your descriptions a bit, add things like synergy purposes, and why you picked certain moves and EVs. Hope I was able to help.

If you read carefully you'll notice that it says Deoxys-S even when the sprite is N
So here, take a sprite
Deoxys_forma_velocidad_NB.gif

By the way, there are some things that i don't get, why not Naive on Salamence?, jolly gives Fire Blast less power, and you're not going to OHKO Ferrothorn with it, by giving it 192 atk / 64 spA / 252 spe and Naive you'll always OHKO 252/ 252 spD Ferrothorn with Fire Blast

Next, why so many spe EVs on Scizor?, as you said it doesn't need it, spread those evs into hp and spD so you can setup in the face of things like Virizion (if you got no Light screen)

And something else, even with Light screen up, NP Thundurus will OHKO your whole team with thunderbolt and hp, Scizor with 248 hp evs will be 2HKOed and it can even touch the genie

So take him in consideration to choose your last member, and yeah, Blaziken is Uber now so, you'll have to find a replacement

Right, changed Salamences nature to Naive, I like your logic there. Also, made Scizor slower but bulkier, not sure about the spread between HP and SpD, but looks good.
I dunno if Jirachi is a decent wall to Thundurus, but I couldn't think of a better one on the spot and his support use is good.
I can't believe Blaziken is Uber! I was under the impression he was OU in dream world, and banned in normal OU because of speed boost...
Anyhow if thats the case I'll think of something, then change him

Replace Blaziken. It's banned (ROFL don't call it uber just call it banned from OU).

I'd add Sub BP Mienshao. It scares so many pokes away with the threat of Hi Jump Kick that you can get a Sub up almost all the time. And its Regenerator ability gains your HP lost from Sub once it switches out. Passing Subs to Salamence or Cloyster is just so good.

You can also try Mixape and SD Virizion (SD for the more immediate threat in close combat rather than CM with focus blast's lacking accuracy imo). Do some testing between those three.

Dual Screen Deoxys-s lead isn't as good as it was in Gen 4 mainly because of Mischievous Heart Taunt (wimsicott, thundurus, etc...). And, as the above poster mentioned, the screens won't save you from shit like Thundurus/Jolteon/Starmie etc.

I would use Anti lead Deoxys-s with ice beam, fire punch, superpower, stealth rock (EVs: 252 Atk / 168 SAtk / 88 Spd @ naughty nature). You can surprise lead thundurus, tyranitar, ferro, forrtress, etc. Though you lose to lead dragonite (multiscale + draco meteor + extremespeed). so maybe the light screen would benefit you there. All in all it's a matter of preference, but the anti-lead covers more threats. Maybe you can use Fake out Mienshao to Fake out dragonite at full HP then Stone edge/Hp Ice (idk if either KO's though) in conjunction with anti-lead deo.

Change Mence's nature to Naive

Change Scizor's EV spread to 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SDef. And replace superpower with Roost. You'll need it to stay healthy vs the Lati twins (especially specs Latios).

And your last pokemon, I would try Trick Room Reuniclus. Yeah I know Trick Room won't benefit your team, but it benefits itself as a late game sweeper. I repeat, late game sweeper aka don't get it in too early. It also benefits Mienshao/Infernape/Virizion (switch into a dark attack and get your attack boosted 1 stage) in typing.

try it out

Right, have changed Scizor's EVs to make him harder, have replaced Jirachi with Reuniclus, and have changed Blaziken for Virizion, he just looked cool to me. Haven't yet changed Deoxys, but I will

So I've been testing out the team after implementing all the suggestions, and I've gotta say its going great! There are occasions where I run into one pokemon that screws me up (I'm looking at you Conkeldurr!) but mostly its just a case of going away and thinking about a way around it, then coming back stronger than ever. it has literally become practise makes perfect :).

That said, I ran into one pokemon I just couldn't win against. I'm not sure if he's particularly common these days, but Regirock just pummelled my team, and I had no way of stopping him! Am I missing a fantabulous element of my team that could destroy him, or is a slight change in order? Or indeed, is it irrelevant because I'll never see him again?

Cheers

Your opening post still has Deoxys-S holding Light Clay, which is a typo, since he doesn't use screens anymore.

Other than that, your team looks pretty solid, though I think that Nasty Plot Thundurus could give you trouble if he manages to get in a Nasty Plot. However, if you keep Deoxy-S alive, you could out-speed it and force it to switch out or die.

Also, looking at your team again, Specs Tornadus could give you problems if he's locked into Hurricane. It hits everyone on your team for at least neutral damage, and it packs quite a punch. However, you can force it out with Deoxys-S, and also you have priority with Scizor if he is adequately weakened.

Luckily, they're both weak to stealth rock, so the damage will add up quickly on them, but just be sure to keep Deoxys-S around if you see one on their team.

Cool stuff, I'll watch out for both of them :).

Actually the reason I haven't changed the light clay yet is because I have no idea what to replace it with! I considered Life Orb, Leftovers and Focus Sash, but none of them seemed to fit what I wanted from him. If you have any suggestions I would be most grateful

Alright, have been using the team for a week or so now, and I keep losing matches I feel I should be winning. Its like theres something missing from the team that I can't manage to put my finger on, if anyone has any suggestions that would be awesome right now!

Reuniclus with Trick Room is redundant with the rest of your team, which is fast for the most part. I understand that you want to abuse TR with Reuniclus right away, but if it goes down you are tuck with a few turns where TR works against you. You might want to replace it with either Recover or Calm Mind.

You're using "Redundant" in the wrong context, nice try though.

But I agree you should change him to CM bulky Reunclius as your whole team is pretty fast and if you used it and something comes in to kill it your team could be in the next running to be sorely raped for the remaining of the TR effect. Also the rest of your team relies heavily on LO, which is bad. Listen to the people that have had the courtesy to rate your team and take their ideas into account. Also take a look at some of the analysis' to get a good idea about some of the pokes you have (which in your case ain't so hot.)

Try your hardest to improve cause I want to see this team get better as you get better. Have fun and good luck with the team!
