[OVERVIEW]
Mega Camerupt is blessed with a unique typing that gives it a niche as a pivot into Volt Switch users like Magearna, Tapu Koko, and Zapdos that other Ground-types may struggle to switch into for fear of their Ice-type coverage and the former two's STAB Fairy-type attacks. Mega Camerupt's offensive STAB combination gives very little in the way of defensive switch-ins, mainly limited to Chansey and Ground-immune Fire resistant Pokemon like Mega Latias and Rotom-W. Mega Camerupt's typing is a double-edged sword with a weakness to Ground and a 4x weakness to Water-type moves. Even weak Water-type attacks from defensive Pokemon like Toxapex and Tapu Fini can threaten to dispatch Mega Camerupt, as well as hard hitters like Mega Swampert, Crawdaunt, and Ash Greninja; the latter two can even remove Mega Camerupt while Trick Room is up through priority attacks. Despite Mega Camerupt's positive matchups against many Fire-, Fairy-, and Electric-types, its bulk is nowhere near infallible, and it lacks recovery, meaning it can find it difficult to get in safely.

Moves
=========
Boosted by Sheer Force, Mega Camerupt's Fire Blast can rip neutral targets like Gliscor and Zapdos to shreds, and Earth Power is a great complementary STAB move to hit the likes of Toxapex and Heatran, both unbothered by Fire Blast. Toxic lets Mega Camerupt punish common switch-ins like Mega Latias and Rotom-W. Substitute eases Mega Camerupt's need for prediction on the many switches it can force. Rock Slide lets Mega Camerupt OHKO Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona, letting it check them in a pinch. Nature Power opens up a new world of coverage for Mega Camerupt, with Grassy Terrain granting a Sheer Force- and Terrain-boosted Energy Ball to dispatch Rotom-W, Electric Terrain giving Mega Camerupt access to a Thunderbolt for Pelipper and Gyarados, and Misty Terrain gifting Moonblast to 2HKO Mega Latias and Dragonite.
Set Details
========
The given Speed EVs let Mega Camerupt outspeed uninvested base 35 Speed Pokemon, mainly Toxapex. This also outspeeds other slower Pokemon like Quagsire, Mega Sableye, and Slowbro. Mega Camerupt is given maximum Special Attack EVs and a Modest nature to maximize its damage output, with the remaining EVs put into its HP for better bulk.
Usage Tips
========
Mega Camerupt makes use of its typing to gain safe entry against Volt Switch users like Tapu Koko and Magearna to unleash its powerful attacks. Because Mega Camerupt isn't very bulky and is very slow, positioning is key for using it, so VoltTurn cores help it hit the field safely. Mega Camerupt is generally only sent out in situations where it completely walls the opposing Pokemon, such as against Tapu Koko, Magearna, Zapdos, and Magnezone, as making trades is often unfavorable for it due to its terrible Speed. In a pinch, Mega Camerupt can make trades against Pokemon like Volcarona and Mega Charizard Y.
Team Options
========
Mega Camerupt appreciates pivots like Tapu Koko and Landorus-T to position it to punch holes in the opposition. Faster Pokemon like Ash-Greninja can clean up teams weakened by Mega Camerupt's onslaught. Tapu Bulu is a great partner for Mega Camerupt, taking on Water-types while Mega Camerupt takes on Steel- and Fire-types like Magearna and Heatran. Tapu Bulu's Grassy Surge reduces the power of any Earthquake aimed at Mega Camerupt and grants it access to Energy Ball through Nature Power. Mega Camerupt can be found on semi-dedicated Trick Room teams with Trick Room setters like Magearna.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
When in the sun, Mega Camerupt can make use of Growth to double its Special Attack, boost Fire Blast's power, use Solar Beam for bulky Water-types, and tank Water-type attacks in a pinch. Mega Camerupt can use Hidden Power Ice for a guaranteed KO against Garchomp, Gliscor, and Dragonite after Stealth Rock damage.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Water-types**: Bulky Water-types like Tapu Fini, Rotom-W, and Mantine can pivot into Mega Camerupt and threaten to OHKO it; however, Tapu Fini doesn't take Earth Power very well and Rotom-W and Mantine need to be wary of Toxic or Nature Power in the right terrain. Offensive Water-types like Ash Greninja and Keldeo don't want to always switch into Mega Camerupt, but they can still easily OHKO it.
**Dragon-types**: Mega Latias, Mega Latios, and Dragonite resist both of Mega Camerupt's STAB moves and can hit back hard with their own STAB attacks, threatening it out. Other Dragon-types like Garchomp and Mega Altaria similarly have Earthquake and can pivot into Mega Camerupt's Fire Blast.
**Faster Wallbreakers**: Although Mega Camerupt's raw strength is difficult to rival, its mediocre bulk and terrible Speed mean it is often outsped and KOed by other wallbreakers like Kyurem-B, Tapu Lele, and Mega Medicham.
**Chansey**: Chansey takes minimal damage from Mega Camerupt's attacks and has Soft-Boiled to stay healthy while spreading status and wearing down Mega Camerupt.
**Ground-types**: Although Landorus-T, Gliscor, and Garchomp threaten Mega Camerupt with Earthquake, they cannot switch in safely.
