ORAS OU OU Mega Slowbro Stall My First Competitive Team

Yeah this is my first time being competive in the ORAS scene with the only meta I played competivly previously was gen 1.

Slowbro @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Slack Off
Always my first starting pokemon that is a Calm Mind user. That is difficult to get around due to it being a good decent offensive presence and after a few uses of Calm mind that boost its special attack and special defense it becomes difficult to KO. Scald is a mandatory stab move that has the ability to cripple physical attackers with a burn, and it is also useful to get chip damage on various Pokemon. Psyshock is good against Calm Mind Clefable, Keldeo, Suicune, Amoonguss, Mega Venusaur, Azumarill, and Mega Altaria (should it carry a heal bell). Slack Off Provides provides reliable recovery to keep Mega Slowbro healthy throughout the match.

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Brave Bird
- Whirlwind

Another Wall and Defog user. Roost allows it to stay healthy and allow it to be a continuous switch in against physical attackers to either wall them or to use Defog on them. Brave bird is a check to Mega Lopunny, Mega Pinsir, and Mega Gallade. Whirlwind prevents pokemon from setting up (swords dance, dragon dance,Quiver Dance etc)

Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock

Bulky rapid spin and stealth rock user and a counter for mega Sableye. Earthquake and Iron Head are good stab moves that provide decent coverage against Electric, Steel, and Fairy-types. Rapid spin of course being good of remove entry hazards and stealth rock is standard in a stall team.

Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
- Toxic
- Soft-Boiled
- Seismic Toss
- Heal Bell

Physical bulk, special bulk, and special wall. Toxic allows Chansey to cripple opposing offensive Pokemon with a status effect and Soft-Boiled is one of Chansey's best healing move especially more so since this Chansey does not use leftovers. Seismic Toss allows Chansey to have offensive presence and can break substitute if the op has low hp. Heal Bell heals all status conditions on my team.

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 168 Def / 92 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Stun Spore
- Sludge Bomb

It is the pivot of the team with its defensive typing that allows it to check threats such as Keldeo, Azumarill, Mega Diancie, and Breloom with its ability Regenerator that allows it to heal by switching out rather than using a turn for Synthesis. Spore is a staple that cripples one pokemon on the opposing team. Giga Drain Helps it stay somewhat healthy and while threatening water types. Stun Spore is a good secondary move that is used to catch op's off guard when spore has all been used. Sludge bomb is a good stab move with a 30% chance to poison foes.

Talonflame
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Acrobatics
- Roost
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp

Acrobatics is Talonflame's main stab move, due to it being powerful and having priority. Roost is good at making Talonflame a constant wall.Taunt stops Toxic, Whirlwind, Roar, and Taunt users from phazing Talonflame or preventing it from sweeping and works along side with Will-O-Wisp.cripples the physically offensive Rock- and Ground-type Pokemon that tend to switch into Talonflame.

Thoughts or changes?

Hey! Looks like a cool team though here are some things to note: Against your team it seems decently easy to setup. For example SD bisharp or Mega Zard X. You can try to fix this by running Quagsire for either your slowbro (though I'm assuming you want to keep it) or more preferably the skarmory. This works alright since the combination of excadrill (rapid spin) and talonflame (typing) works somewhat of the same purpose making skarmory redundant. The quagsire would have unaware ablity with leftovers running 252 hp, 252 def, and 4 spd and have recover, earthquake, scald, and encore to force those pokes who are setting up to switch out.

On another note I think if your goal is to stall you'd be better off running a calm mind varient of Mega Slowbro. This would make your slowbro a lot more bulky so it can stall out both physical and special mons at once and will be able to win the game on its own from scald burn damage and slowly poking enemies down (after you get rid of the bad MUs for mega slowbro that is).

Lastly here's what I would consider as some smaller changes:
1)Running acrobatics with no item on talonflame as brave bird recoil can stack up immensely.
2)The use of synthesis instead of either giga drain, spore, or stun spore on amoongus as giga drain and black sludge alone isnt reliable recovery

Other than that it looks good! Really cool idea dude!

I hope it's okay that I bump this thread it's been a while since I played competitively and I wonder once Sun/Moon come out if the team will change. Anyway I am thinking about taking out Excadrill for this Quagsire

Quagmire Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
Evs: 252 HP/252 Def/SpD
Relaxed Nature
-Scald
-Recover
-Earthquake
-Encore

Note I am still new to competitive Pokemon.
