I know that monotype teams are not that viable in the metagame due to the lack of coverage, especially if it is a grass mono, where the main STAB moves are resisted by 7 types while being super effective against only 3. Also grass has 5 weaknesses on common attacks, mainly fire and ice. I decided to use a mono grass team however. because I got to see sand and rain based teams in most of my OU battles on PS since grass is the only type to counter water and ground efficiently (at least on my opinion). So here is my team:
Whimsicott
Type:Grass
Item:Leftovers
Ability:Prankster
EVs: 252 HP 100 Spd 156 Def
Nature: Calm (+spd -atk)
Moves:
Substitute
Leech seed
Encore
Taunt
I use this guy as a counter lead most of the time on hazard setters since prankster gives. priority to all support moves and its high base speed even without EVs ensures it will outspeed other priority users like Scizor, Conkeldurr or Sableye. Also the standard subseed combo is perfect for stalling especially if they get trapped in a non offensive move by encore.
Virizion
Type:Grass/Fighting
Item:Leftovers
EVs: 252 Spa 252 Spe 4 HP
Nature:Timid(+Spe -Atk)
Moves:
Substitute
Calm Mind
Focus Miss..*Ahem*..Blast
Giga Drain
So far, Virizion has been extremely useful in my matches, being amazing at being both a setup sweeper and a special wall. I simply switch her on a non offensive pokemon or a weaker special attacker and spam CM after sub. I make sure that sub is always up for incoming toxic or t-waves however since the can cripple the setup. Lefties and giga drain help sustaining HP from the cost of subs. The only problem with this set is when focus blast goes wrong however...
Ferrothorn
Type:Grass/Steel
Ability:Iron Barbs (duh!)
Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP 100 Def 152 Spd
Nature:Sassy (+Spd -Spe)
Moves:
Leech Seed
Protect
Gyro Ball
Stealth Rock
So original isn`t it? As my only hope against all of grass weaknesses bar fire I use it as a.ead against the likes of politoed and ttar to set rocks and start stalling with LS + protect. Gyro Ball also hits hard most pokemon since it is most time 150 STAB to hit sweepers
Ludicolo
Type: Grass/Water
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP 252 Spd 4 Spe
Nature:Calm(+Spd -Atk)
Moves
Rain Dance
Leech Seed
Substitute
Scald
Ludicolo is mainly usable for removing sun from play thus covering the only weakness left while stalling with subseed and that pesky scald burn. The combination of leech seed, lefties and rain dish is enough to regain 25% hp each turn, equal to that of the sub cost. Ludicolo has saved me many games especially against sun teams and when the opponent had no move to hit for SE damage
Torterra
Type: Grass/Ground
Item: Liechi Berry
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk 252 Spe 4 HP
Nature: Adamant (+Atk -Spa)
Moves:
Wood Hammer
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Rock Polish
Torterra is my only physical attacker and it is good enough in its role so far. Rock Polish makes up its terrible speed to start sweeping while these 3 attacks give the most coverage. The only problem here is the 4x weakness to ice, torterra can take other super effective moves without STAB as I have seen so far.
Roserade
Type: Grass/Poison
Item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Spa 252 Spe 4 HP
Nature: Timid (+Spe -Atk)
Moves:
Leaf Storm
HP fire
Shadow Ball
Extrasensory
I use these moves to revenge kill pokemon that do not expect a super effective attack from roserade and also use her to drain toxic spikes that would hinder the rest of the team hard
