Cycle Fifty Two - Tapu Lele

:ss/tapu lele:

Our next subject is Tapu lele, a powerful wallbreaker due to its powerful Psychic Terrain boosted stabs, alongside synergistic coverage in Thunderbolt and Focus Blast. Capable of tearing teams to shreds with proper prediction, it does have quite a few tricks up its sleeve, for you to divulge here!

Tapu Lele @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Aromatherapy
- Taunt
- Moonblast

- Future Sight

Tapu Lele is able to take act as an offensive mix of Blissey and Slowking, providing great wallbreaking power while still having the defensive utility for its team. Aromatherapy is good for removing status that offensive teams lack. Taunt can be used as an emergency stop to set-up sweepers such as Calm Mind Clefable and prevent status. Future Sight + Heavy-Duty Boots is nice due to the amount of forced switches it causes, and it is most likely to switch out anyway.

Calm Mind Skill Swap

:ss/Tapu Lele:

Tapu Lele @ Leftovers
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
-Skill Swap
-Calm Mind
-Draining Kiss
-Psyshock

This janky set is a Calm Mind user that laughs at Heatran. Simply Skill Swap to steal Flash Fire and watch as opponents panic… maybe. If nothing else it will catch them off guard. It easily beats Unaware Clefable too, and it can steal Regenerator from an incoming Slowbro/Slowking/GKing.

In order to set up Calm Minds against suddenly passive opponents, a slower, bulkier set is preferred. Pair it with Magnezone because otherwise this isn’t going to get past Ferrothorn or Corviknight.

i could give this a very interesting title but i dont wanna get banned

Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock/Thunder/Bolt
- Psychic/Thunder/Bolt
- Focus Blast
- Moonblast

this set is basically meant to fake specs with twisted spoon, lure in whatever thing can take the "locked" move then destroy with coverage coz bam apparently I'm not locked. a few examples would be opponent going tran on psy, thinking its specs coz the damage is noticeable only if the opponent knows the exact calc for it(and its way harder to tell if they come in on moon), then blasting it away. or opponent going corv on psy or moon then getting electrocuted. you could also bluff scarf in some occasions if you play like you're scarf, coz the opponent would rule out the possiblity of specs if you come in to boldly revenge an ursh lol
expert belt could have been an option here but it's much much worse at faking so i didn't go for it
Have a good day everyone :blobwizard:

Double Dance Tapu Lele

Tapu Lele @ Leftovers / Weakness Policy
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 196 Def / 64 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Iron Defense
- Stored Power
- Draining Kiss / Moonblast

Do you remember that one insanely cheesy Magearna set that we all wholeheartedly despise? Well here’s a budget version with higher speed (EVs are to creep Adamant Bisharp as well as Timid Magnezone and Aegislash, otherwise maximizing physical bulk). Click a setup move on a forced switch (usually Pex or Lando) and then continue setting up until you are unkillable. If Screens are up, you can pull it off pretty reliably and actually cheese wins against quite a few teams. Even if you don’t have Screens it still works fairly often. Be warned though- you’re essentially playing 5v6 unless you can find good setup opportunities.

Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Moonblast
- Aromatherapy

this Tapu lele aims to help its teammates with Aromatherapy out due to the various formes of statusconditions in OU it can be a great cleric in this position and its fast enough to scare most Pokemon out with its superb combination of moves it can possess. Psyshock hits Blissey, Galarian Slowking, and Slowking harder and Expert Belt gives it a way to OHKO offensive Heatran with Focus Blast and to net in some ways of clear 2HKOes on pokemon like full spdef Ferrothorn, spdef Heatran, and also Assault Vest Melmetal.

252+ SpA Expert Belt Tapu Lele Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Ferrothorn: 226-266 (64.2 - 75.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Expert Belt Tapu Lele Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Heatran: 240-283 (62.1 - 73.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Expert Belt Tapu Lele Focus Blast vs. 128 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Melmetal: 216-257 (48.7 - 58%) -- 96.9% chance to 2HKO

:ss/tapu_lele:
Tapu Lele @ Assault Vest
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 112 HP / 184 SpA / 212 Spe
Modest Nature
- Future Sight
- Psyshock
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast / Thunderbolt / Nature's Madness

This set is sort of halfway between Scarf Future Sight sets and Assault Vest Galarian Slowking - it can survive a surprising variety of special hits and hit back hard with its decent coverage and Future Sight. The EV spread is very customisable, but this lets you outspeed Timid Heatran and survive a Modest Nidoking's Sludge Wave, Choice Specs Blacephalon's Shadow Ball, and two Modest Volcanion Sludge Bombs.

Endure + Salac Berry

Tapu Lele @ Salac Berry
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Endure
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast / Calm Mind

since Katy robbed me of my precious expert lele, I came up with this set.
endure + salac gives lele the ability to switch moves in the early game, potentially nabbing kos on steels with focus blast or boosts with calm mind, and then survive an attack from many faster threats (endure mechanics allows you to boost even against urshifu-r's surging strikes or any multi-hit move in general). the sudden, unexpected boost in speed allows lele to potentially sweep the opposing team who thought that it was handling a slow lele and suddenly finds itself dealing with a fast, boosted lele that can't be hit with priority moves via psychic terrain.

set-wise, the first three moves are obligatory, with the only choice being what psychic stab to use. the choice of focus blast or cm depends on team support and influence the nature: focus blast is to be run with modest for more power, while cm can be run with timid

- Psyshock

- Substitute
This set is designed to set-up on slowking, since the EVs allow its substitute to not get broken by scald, subsitute also gives you more safety, for teams that rely on trying to switch and predict around it,

Nature Power Tapu Lele

Tapu Lele @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Moonblast
- Nature's Madness
- Nature Power

Nature Power is a good "coverage" move because it basically is a Psychic at your disposal (alongside Psyshock to deal damage on the physical side of the spectrum), but it can turn into another coverage move if the opponent has another Tapu on his team.
Alternatively, Tri Attack is always nice due its secondary effects.
Nature's Madness is perfect to catch off-guard the opponent's switch-ins because it cuts in half the health of a -supposed- hard check/counter.

HDB is good on Tapu Lele because it is damaged by all hazards and HDB gives it a lot more opportunities to switch in&out throughout the match.

Cycle Fifty Two - Zapdos-Galar

:ss/zapdos-galar:

Our next subject is Galarian Zapdos, An incredibly powerful wallbreaker, zapdos-galar is generally seen as a fairly linear pokemon, however maybe there will be some untapped potential in this pokemon's moveset, with its interesting utility movepool and great stat line.

Zapdos-Galar @ Lum Berry
Ability: Defiant
- Bulk Up
- Taunt
- Thunderous Kick

- Drill Peck / Acrobatics

Bulk Up Galarian Zapdos is able to set up all over defensive staples such as Toxapex, Scizor, and Brave Bird-less Corviknight. Taunt is able to stop Haze attempts from Toxapex. Lum Berry is able to heal a Burn from Scald or Toxic so it can set up easily. Thunderous Kick is able to act as a break down walls easier, such as 2HKOing Corviknight. Drill Peck is preferred for consistent damage, but Acrobatics is stronger after Lum Berry is consumed.

Also JTD, Sub Bulk Up is fine since this has variant has Lum Berry and Taunt

Zapdos-Galar @ Lum Berry / Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Agility
- Brave Bird
- Close Combat
- Throat Chop
This set acts as a late game cleaner, using agility to boost it's speed so it can clean up late game more easily. Pretty standard spread here and Jolly nature because deep down we all know that Adamant/Modest nature 100's is just not good, just by simply changing a nature makes it more threatening because I don't want this to get outsped by KYUREM and get destroyed when it should always destroy it (barring scarf and some gimmicky chople sets).
