OU Nidoking Sweep

Hello everyone! Here is my second ever competitive team. It is focused around sweeping with my favourite Pokemon: Nidoking.

Nidoking @ Life Orb
Sheer Force
Timid (+Spe -Atk)
4 HP/252 Sp.Atk/252 Spe
-Earth Power
-Ice Beam
-Focus Blast
-Fire Blast

The main Special Sweeper of the crew. He is set up by a Quiver Dance Venomoth (see below). 4 attacks for maximum type coverage, each with an additional effect that gets cancelled out by the beauty that is Sheer Force. He always gets at least one QD under his belt, and 2-3 is just amazing. I see that Substitute is another recommended move for this set and I am wondering if it is better than having the coverage of 4 moves.

Venomoth @ Black Sludge
Wonder Skin
Timid (+Spe -Atk)
252 HP/4 Def/252 Spe
-Sleep Powder
-Quiver Dance
-Baton Pass
-Bug Buzz

The setup Pokemon for Nidoking. Maximum speed is used to help get a Sleep Powder in to begin Quiver Dancing. After 1-3 Quiver Dances, Venomoth Baton Passes to Nidoking for the sweep. Bug Buzz to prevent Taunt from a total cripple, should that happen. Another possible item I was considering was Focus Sash to help guarantee a chance to use Sleep Powder, but I feel a Rapid Spinner would be needed first.

whimsicott

Whimsicott @ Leftovers
Prankster
Impish (+Def -Sp.Atk)
252 HP/252 Def/4 Sp.Def
-Stun Spore
-Leech Seed
-Taunt
-Encore

What a little bugger this guy is. I use him as my Lead Pokemon to Taunt entry hazarders and to begin Paralyzing the team. Paralysis comes in great handy to lower the opposing team's Speed, should Venomoth fail to Baton Pass some Quiver Dances to Nidoking, as well as just a general nuisance. Encore and Taunt has been especially useful for combating set-up Pokemon, whether it is preventing them from setting up, or forcing them to over-set-up and waste away from Leech Seed or switch out.

vaporeon.png

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Water Absorb
Bold (+Def -Atk)
252 HP/252 Def/4 Sp.Atk
-Scald
-Protect
-Roar
-Wish

Vaporeon is part one to my defensive core (with Celebi). A pretty standard, but practical, moveset. Wish/Protect for self healing. Protect to scout out opposing movesets as well. Wish also has nice synergy with Celebi as Celebi resists Vaporeon's weaknesses and is a common switch-in after Vaporeon. Roar may be more useful if I find myself wanting entry hazards, but for now it is a fun way to remove other walls from the area.

Celebi @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
Calm (+Sp.Def -Atk)
252 HP/236 Sp.Def/20 Spe
-Recover
-Thunder Wave
-Giga Drain
-U-Turn

Part two to my defensive core. Vaporeon and Celebi do a fairly good job of covering each other's weaknesses, as well as Nidoking's, should he have to switch in before the sweep or back out of the sweep early. Thunder Wave hits what Whimsicott missed and U-Turn works nicely with Vaporeon and Venomoth, who will prep the sweep.

mamoswine.png

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Thick Fat
Jolly (+Spe -Sp.Atk)
252 Atk/4 Sp.Def/252 Spe
-Ice Shard
-Icicle Crash
-Earthquake
-Superpower

My physical attacker. He seems to lack synergy with the rest of the team, but I like the dents he can put into Special Walls before Nidoking comes out. I chose Life Orb over a Choice item due to Flying/Levitating Pokemon rendering EQ useless and I feel I can not afford to switch again once Mamoswine is out as I lose momentum.

Thank you guys for taking the time to Rate My Team! I truly do appreciate it :)

Hey there!
This is an interesting team all around, I have never tried to use Nidoking as a sweeper. I realize this is a favorites team so I won't suggest changing Nidoking, but that being said I do think there are a few changes you could and should make. First off you are weak to any kind of Scizor, CB and especially Swords Dance. If Scizor sets up, it's game over buddy he can OHKO or 2HKO your entire team. Even if it doesn't run Swords Dance, it can pick off Nidoking with Bullet Punch after it's received it's boosts. Whimsicott, is not very necessary and I think you should replace it with Magnezone. Magnezone can defeat Scizor with Hidden Power Fire and you can pick either a Choice Scarf or Choice Specs for Magnezone. Mamoswine isn't doing that much, you said so yourself. You say Mamoswine is a wall breaker but I don't think that is the best role for Mamoswine. Replace Mamoswine with a better wallbreaker, perhaps mixed Kyurem-Black but again it's up to you. I would strongly reccomend Kyurem-Black though. Anyways, these changes could really help your team and I would implement them.

Hey guys! The thing is I'm new here so I'm having a bit of difficulty in making a thread where I can post my team. So if you wouldn't mind could you also rate my team, please. My lead's a metagross, then there is an infernape, dragonite, magnezone, weavile and alakazam. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. If i have to replace a pokemon or two please tell me. Thanks
