Hi guys/girls, this has been a really interesting team to use and I hope you can see where improves could be made. This is an offensive team build that I wanted to make which has been effective for me. This team has gotten me to rank 1275 on Pokémon Online so far and I've only used it for a short amount of time.
This is my team
Donphan Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Impish
Evs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 HP
Moves
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Shard
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
Donphan is my lead who is going to set up stealth rocks that helps wear down the opponents Pokémon which is what is expected from Donphan.
Ice Shard has priority which is mainly used for dealing with Dragon types, Ground types and maybe Pokémon with low health.
Rapid Spin is for clearing up the hazards that the opponent sets up.
Earthquake is for STAB and can deal with many Pokémon since the 252 evs are in attack. I put 252 evs in attack to help Donphan beat Pokémon that it normally wouldn't. I didn't think that Donphan needed so many evs in HP as it is already bulky in Defence and Donphan also has Sturdy ability which lets it live 1 attack that would normally finish it off.
Dragonite Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale
Nature: Adamant
Evs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Moves
- Extremespeed
- Fire Punch
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
Dragonite is my sweeper who would normally setup dragon dances to increase its already high attack stat. Extremespeed is for priority so that it can knock out Pokémon with low health or frail Pokemon.
Fire Punch is used for coverage against the likes of Ferrothorn and Scizor etc. I also feel that Fire Punch is the least expected move in the move slot as opponents won't expect it.
Dragon Dance is generally needed for Dragonite to gain that +1 Attack and +1 Speed boost that it should use to be even more threatening.
I opted for Dragon Claw over Outrage because I dislike how Dragonite is locked in for 2-3 moves with Outrage which can be exploited by the opponent. Dragon Claw in my opinion is more reliable to use than Outrage.
Greninja Life Orb
Ability: Protean
Nature: Hasty
Evs: 252 Sp.Atk / 252 Speed / 4 Sp.Def
Moves
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Dark Pulse
- Grass Knot
Greninja is the special sweeper in the team and I have to say Greninja is my favourite Pokémon in this team because he has so much coverage and the Protean ability is so easily abused.
Hydro Pump has STAB as well as hitting hard against those fire types such as Talonflame and Heatran.
Ice Beam also gets STAB and is amazing against Dragons especially against the likes of Garchomp and Dragonite.
Dark Pulse gets STAB and is awesome at hitting Pokémon like Aegislash hard and also this does neutral damage to many steel types that previously would've troubled it.
Grass Knot has the final move slot as I felt I needed grass type coverage and Grass Knot is ideal for hitting Pokémon like Swampert and Gastrodon into next week. The only problem I have is that Rotom Wash doesn't take as much damage from Grass Knot as I would've liked.
Talonflame Life Orb
Ability: Gale Wings
Nature: Adamant
Evs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Moves
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Flare Blitz
- Swords Dance
Here it is, one of the most evil threats out there for many unprepared teams, its Talonflame. Just hearing its name might make you remember how it can outspeed most Pokémon with its devastating abilty Gale Wings which gives priority to all flying type moves. Talonflame is used for revenge killing.
Not only that but it has Brave Bird which I have to have in the move slot because its a STAB move and gets priority due to Gale Wings.
Roost also gians priority which is excellent if you want quick recovery and that's just why I chose this move.
Flare Blitz has STAB which really does hit those steel types where it hurts. Steel types like Ferrothorn and Scizor can't deal with it.
Swords Dance is the last move in the move slot and is debatable between U-turn and Steel Wing but I preferred Swords Dance as Talonflame hasn't got the best attack in OU by some distance and the swords dance boost can help Talonflame inflict serious damage if it can pull it off without dying.
Alakazam @Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard / Trace (Mega Alakazam)
Nature: Modest
Evs: 252 Sp.Atk / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Moves
- Psyshock
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Dazzling Gleam
Alakazam is my Mega beast who goes Mega and rampages the opponents team without mercy. Alakazam is intended to be Mega as it has skyrocketing Sp.Atk and Speed stats. Psyshock is used over Psychic as I wanted to target the Defence of Pokémon rather than their Sp.Defence.
Psyshock gets STAB and also comes in handy against Pokemon such as Chansey as it exloits Chansey's weak Defence stat.
Shadow Ball is used for blasting ghosts and psychic types such as Gengar and opposing Alakazam out the way.
Focus Blast may only hit once in a blue moon but it provides Alakazam with coverage against Steel types such as Steelix and Skarmory and it also hits Ice types like Mamoswine and Abomasnow hard too.
Dazzling gleam gets a spot because of fairy type coverage and it's more reliable than Focus Blast for dealing with Dark types. To be honest I may need advice on the 4th move slot as Dazzling Gleam was added but hasn't seen much use.
Terrakion @Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
Nature: Adamant
Evs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Moves
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Close Combat
- Sacred Sword
Terrakion is my Physical sweeper who really does the job providing it is used properly. Stone Edge gives STAB although it hasn't got reliable accuracy it does do enormous amounts of damage even when Terrakion is scarfed. Stone Edge finishes off the Charizards that are now prominent in OU.
Earthquake is mainly used for electric types such as Jolteon, Magnezone and Manectric.
Close Combat is an excellent STAB move for Terrakion to crush most Pokémon with 2HKOs or OHKOs.
Sacred Sword has no drawback in defence drops such as is the case with Close Combat so Sacred Sword is for reliability.
Thank you for taking the time to read through my offensive team build. I hope to receive advice on my team so that any improvements can be made to it.
Threats and Checks to my offensive team
Rotom-Wash: This Pokémon can be very annoying if Greninja has been KO'ed since I have no grass move to use against Rotom-Wash.
Azumarill: This Pokémon can sweep my team if it successfully gets a belly drum off. It has Play Rough which destroys most of my team. Waterfall hits hard too.
Clefable: This Pokémon can boost its stats and is proving to be a real pain. It uses calm mind and then it moonblasts my team to death.
Ditto: This Pokémon can be deadly to my team especially if it copies Terrakion or Mega Alakazam. If Ditto holds choice scarf which most do then it spells doom to my team if I can't wear it down enough.
Landorus-T: This Pokémon can really be a threat to my team if my Greninja is KOed.
Mega Alakazam: Opposing Mega Alakazam can outspeed most of my team except Talonflame and Terrakion. If those two have been KOed it then becomes difficult to beat it.
Mega Venusaur: This Pokémon can resist Fire and Ice type moves which spells doom for my team as only Brave Bird and Psyshock really do damage against Mega Venusaur.
