OU OU Pelipper Overview + OO + C&C's Revamp [QC 2/2] [GP 1/1] [DONE]

[OVERVIEW]

Pelipper shines as the best rain setter in OU thanks to its ability Drizzle, useful defensive typing, and great movepool, with access to Roost, U-turn, and other utility moves such as Knock Off and Defog. Its rain lets it support a multitude of teammates ranging from Ferrothorn and Magearna having their Fire weakness decreased to enabling dangerous threats such as Mega Swampert, Ash-Greninja, and Manaphy. Rain boosts the power of Pelipper's Scald and boosts the accuracy of Hurricane from Tornadus-T and Thunder from Tapu Koko, letting them use these moves without worrying about missing. Drizzle is also useful against opposing weather teams, letting it hinder Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y and Excadrill. However, its Water / Flying typing leaves a lot to be desired; Stealth Rock cuts into its HP, reducing its ability to take physical attacks such as Mega Lopunny's Frustration, and it is vulnerable to common offensive types such as Electric and Rock. Additionally, its base stats aside from its Defense are below average at best, making it easy for special attackers such as Ash-Greninja, Tornadus-T, and Tapu Lele to pressure and force it out. Pelipper also loses to Mega Tyranitar and Mega Charizard Y one-on-one, should they come in and replace the rain with their respective weathers.

Toxic can be used to cripple the likes of Slowbro and Gastrodon. Pursuit is another option to trap the rare Shedinja, which is otherwise very troublesome to teammates such as Mega Swampert, Manaphy, and Tapu Koko. However, the use of these moves for these matchups is very specific, and Pelipper must give up more consistent options like Knock Off, Defog, and Hurricane to use them. A Choice Specs set with a Modest nature can catch opponents by surprise, drastically powering up Pelipper's Water-type STAB moves and ensuring that Hurricane has a favorable roll to 2HKO Toxapex after Stealth Rock damage. However, Pelipper needs to drop Damp Rock, leading to rain teams having fewer turns to threaten the opposing team and reducing the consistency of teammates like Mega Swampert and Manaphy that rely on rain.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Electric-type Pokemon and Coverage Moves**: Electric-types such as Tapu Koko, Rotom-W, Thundurus-T, and Zapdos pose a major threat to Pelipper with their super effective STAB moves. They can also force out Pelipper with Volt Switch to generate momentum. Pelipper must also watch out for unexpected Electric-type coverage such as Thunder from Clefable and Thunder Punch from Kommo-o.

**Rock-type Pokemon and Coverage Moves**: Rock-types such as Tyranitar, Mega Diancie, and the rare Mega Aerodactyl are faster than Pelipper and threaten it with their Rock-type STAB moves. Tyranitar can replace the rain and potentially punish Pelipper with Pursuit. Pelipper must be wary of Pokemon that may have Rock-type coverage moves such as Stone Edge from the likes of Landorus-T and Garchomp.

**Opposing Rain Sweepers**: Offensive Water-types such as Ash-Greninja and Volcanion can turn Pelipper's rain against it by powering up their Water-type STAB moves to use against it and its teammates. Pokemon like Tornadus-T and Mega Latias can also use the rain to fire off Hurricane and Thunder without the risk of missing.

**Opposing Weather Setters**: Tyranitar and Mega Charizard Y can replace Pelipper's rain with sand and sun, respectively, making it more difficult for Pelipper to maintain the rain turns for its team. Tyranitar can also potentially punish Pelipper with Pursuit, which leaves Pelipper with fewer opportunities to come back in and reset the rain.

**Passive Damage**: The presence of Stealth Rock is very troublesome for Pelipper, as it limits its ability to come in and reset the rain. If Pelipper is below 25% of its health, it will be KOed before it can activate the rain. Status conditions like Toxic and even burn compound with entry hazard damage and give Pelipper a much harder time sticking around.

**Item Removal**: The loss of Damp Rock is detrimental for Pelipper because it limits the number of rain turns that it can provide for its teammates.

**Special Attackers**: Due to Pelipper's below average Special Defense, powerful special attackers such as Ash-Greninja, Tapu Lele, Magearna, and Mega Alakazam can threaten it with heavy damage.

[OVERVIEW]

Pelipper shines as the best rain setter in OU thanks to its ability Drizzle, useful defensive typing, and great movepool, with access to Roost, U-turn, and other utility moves such as Knock Off and Defog. Not only does Pelipper take advantage of the rain to boost its Water-type STAB moves and ensure that Hurricane doesn't miss, but it also supports a multitude of teammates ranging from Ferrothorn having its Fire weakness decreased to enabling dangerous sweepers such as Mega Swampert, Ash-Greninja, and Manaphy. i feel like this sentence is a bit backwards, supporting teammates is definitely the main draw with pelipper's own offenses coming second, could you try rearranging it for this Drizzle is also useful against opposing weather teams that rely on other weather to function such as sun and sand teams, letting it hinder Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y and Excadrill. However, its Water / Flying typing leaves a lot to be desired; Stealth Rock cuts into its HP, reducing its ability to take physical attacks such as Mega Lopunny's Frustration, and it is vulnerable to common offensive types such as Electric and Rock. Toxic can be used to cripple the likes of Slowbro, which is a difficult matchup for rain teams. Pursuit is another option to OHKO trap the rare Shedinja, who which is otherwise very troublesome to teammates such as Mega Swampert, Manaphy, (AC) and Tapu Koko. However, the use of these moves for these matchups are is very specific and Pelipper must give up more consistent options like Knock Off, Defog, or and Hurricane to use them. A Choice Specs set alongside with a Modest nature is also an option to catch opponents by surprise, further drastically powering up Pelipper's Water-type STAB moves and ensure ensuring that Hurricane has a favorable roll to 2HKO Toxapex after Stealth Rock. However, this set faces competition from Choice Specs Ash-Greninja, who is much faster, is more powerful, and has Spikes. not sure why these two cant be paired tho im not an expert on specs peli rain This leads Even worse, Pelipper needs to drop Damp Rock, leading to rain teams having fewer turns to threaten the opposing team and reducing the consistency of teammates like Mega Swampert and Manaphy that rely on rain.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Electric-type Pokemon and coverage moves Coverage Moves**: Electric-types such as Tapu Koko, Rotom-W, Thundurus-T, and Zapdos pose a major threat to Pelipper with their super effective STAB moves. They can also force out Pelipper with Volt Switch to generate momentum. Pelipper must also watch out for unexpected Electric-type coverage such as Thunder from Clefable and Thunder Punch from Kommo-o.

**Rock-type Pokemon and coverage moves Coverage Moves**: Rock-types such as Tyranitar, Mega Diancie, and the rare Mega Aerodactyl are faster than Pelipper and threaten it with their Rock-type STAB moves. The former Tyranitar can also replace the rain with sand and can potentially punish Pelipper with Pursuit. Pelipper must be wary of Pokemon that may have Rock-type coverage moves such as Stone Edge from the likes of Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Tapu Bulu.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types such as Ferrothorn, Tapu Bulu, and Serperior can switch into Scald and force it out with their STAB moves. However, they must be wary of switching into Scald, while the latter two do not like taking Hurricane very much. i dont consider these very relevant outside of resisting scald

**Water-types**: Offensive Water-types such as Seismitoad, Gastrodon, Volcanion, and Ash-Greninja and Volcanion can turn Pelipper's rain against it to power up their Water-type STAB moves to use against it and its teammates, while Seismitoad and Gastrodon can use their Water immunity to absorb Scald freely and either set Stealth Rock for free or threaten Pelipper with status. The former three are also immune to Scald thanks to Water Absorb and Storm Drain.

**Opposing Weather Setters**: Tyranitar and Mega Charizard Y can replace Pelipper's rain with sand and sun, respectively, making it more difficult for Pelipper to maintain the rain turns for its team.

**Stealth Rock Passive Damage**: The presence of Stealth Rock is very troublesome for Pelipper as it limits its ability to come in and reset the rain. If Pelipper is below 25% of its health, it will be KOed before it can activate the rain. Status conditions like Toxic or even burn compound with entry hazard damage and give Pelipper a much harder time staying around.

**Losing its Damp Rock Item Removal**: The loss of Damp Rock is detrimental for Pelipper because it limits the number of rain turns that it can provide for its teammates.

**Special Attackers**: Thanks to Pelipper's below-average Special Defense, powerful special attackers such as Ash-Greninja, Tapu Lele, Magearna, and Mega Alakazam can threaten it with heavy damage.

**Chansey Specially Defensive Walls**: Chansey hard walls Pelipper, doesn't care for Scald thanks to Natural Cure, can set up Stealth Rock, and can spread paralysis and poison with Thunder Wave and Toxic, respectively. It doesn't like losing its Eviolite from Knock Off, however. Toxapex is similarly unfazed by Scald and can threaten Pelipper with Toxic as well as set Toxic Spikes in front of it, which are generally threatening against the rain archetype.

Add somewhere Rain synergize with Hurricane (with Tornadus-T) and Thunder (Tapu Koko)

Toxic can be used to cripple the likes of Slowbro and Gastrodon, which is a difficult matchup for rain teams Slowbro squad have usually issue to deal with Manaphy Rain. Pursuit is another option to trap the rare Shedinja, which is otherwise very troublesome to teammates such as Mega Swampert, Manaphy, and Tapu Koko. However, the use of these moves for these matchups is very specific and Pelipper must give up more consistent options like Knock Off, Defog, and Hurricane to use them. A Choice Specs set with a Modest nature is also an option to catch opponents by surprise, drastically powering up Pelipper's Water-type STAB moves and ensuring that Hurricane has a favorable roll to 2HKO Toxapex after Stealth Rock. However, this set faces competition from Choice Specs Ash-Greninja, who is much faster, is more powerful, and has Spikes Specs Pelipper hit harder than Gren + I disagree with this set facing competition with ash gren (since the hurricane stab + knock off + roost is enough to put specs pelipper on another (way smaller) niche than gren). Even worse, Pelipper needs to drop Damp Rock, leading to rain teams having fewer turns to threaten the opposing team and reducing the consistency of teammates like Mega Swampert and Manaphy that rely on rain. Imo, Specs pelipper is not made to be on rain (most "succesful" squad I saw with that set is with volt turn support from Mega Scizor). You can add the fact this set does not suit Rain team as a disavantage if you want.

Checks and Counters

**Electric-type Pokemon and Coverage Moves**: Electric-types such as Tapu Koko, Rotom-W, Thundurus-T, and Zapdos pose a major threat to Pelipper with their super effective STAB moves. They can also force out Pelipper with Volt Switch to generate momentum. Pelipper must also watch out for unexpected Electric-type coverage such as Thunder from Clefable and Thunder Punch from Kommo-o. It's up to you but you can add Z-Zap Cannon Slowbro as an example.

**Rock-type Pokemon and Coverage Moves**: Rock-types such as Tyranitar, Mega Diancie, and the rare Mega Aerodactyl are faster than Pelipper and threaten it with their Rock-type STAB moves. Tyranitar can also replace the rain with sand and potentially punish Pelipper with Pursuit. Pelipper must be wary of Pokemon that may have Rock-type coverage moves such as Stone Edge from the likes of Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Tapu Bulu. Tapu Bulu already crush Pelipper with its grass stab

**Water-types Opposing Rain Abusers**: Offensive Water-types such as Ash-Greninja and Volcanion can turn Pelipper's rain against it to power up their Water-type STAB moves to use against it and its teammates, while Seismitoad and Gastrodon can use their Water immunity to absorb Scald freely and either set Stealth Rock for free or threaten Pelipper with status. You can add other type of pokemon that can potentially abuse the rain. Hurricane (from Tornadus-T) and Thunder (from Mega Latias) are the big ones.

**Opposing Weather Setters**: Tyranitar and Mega Charizard Y can replace Pelipper's rain with sand and sun, respectively, making it more difficult for Pelipper to maintain the rain turns for its team. Can add that Mega Tyranitar can also trap Pelipper with Pursuit.

**Passive Damage**: The presence of Stealth Rock is very troublesome for Pelipper as it limits its ability to come in and reset the rain. If Pelipper is below 25% of its health, it will be KOed before it can activate the rain. It doesn't like losing its Eviolite from Knock Off, however. Toxapex is similarly unfazed by Scald and can threaten Pelipper with Toxic as well as set Toxic Spikes in front of it, which are generally threatening against the rain archetype. Since pelipper is mainly an utility pokemon, the fact it's walled by basically anything bulky is not an issue to its functioning
