OU - Pokemon Showdown Ladder! From GenIV to V.

- - - Introduction - - -

Herro everyone.
First post here.
I haven't played competitive Pokemon since the days of Platinum but Aeo's Pokemon Showdown renewed my interest.
I managed to get a decent 75% win ratio with my 4th gen team. But then I decided to try to adapt it to the current metagame.
It's a mix of OU/UU Pokemon.
The theme here is balance, to be able to sweep as well as switch into checks/counters without sacrifice.
Some Pokemon need to be fast while others can be slow.
So 4 out of 6 on this team would be considered 'fast' which I like. I try to keep that number above 3.

Team Building - The remnants of 4th Gen

BigBird (Skarmory) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
Impish Nature (+ Def, - Sp.Atk)
EVs:252 HP / 72 Atk / 186 Def
-Brave Bird
-Stealth Rock
-Roost
-Whirlwind

Physical Wall from my 4th Gen Team.
I've tried to replace Skarm many, many times.
Donphan was a fantastic alternative until I saw how many people were using Dragonites.
Thus Skarmory stayed..
Primary counter to raging Dragons, and stat-boosters.

OverEasy (Chansey) @ Eviolite
Trait : Natural Cure
Calm nature (- Atk, +Sp.Def)
EVs:252 HP / 252 Def /4 Sp. Def
-Thunder Wave
-Seismic Toss
-Wish
-Aromatherapy

Using almost the exact same setup as my 4th Gen Blissey.
I added Wish from when Donphan replaced Skarm, but I found it much better than Softboiled.
So it stayed.
Full on cleric while shutting down sweepers with T-Wave.
All my teams need a cleric; I get 10% burned, frozen, sleep'd frequently.

Wheelchair (Latias) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk / 4 HP / 252 Spe
-Draco Meteor
-Surf
-HP Fire
-Psyshock

Specs Latias.
In 4th Gen, Latios was uber so I used Latias.
I attempted to switch to Latios but I preferred the bulk to more Sp.Atk
I also used to run Trick to shut down walls but then I.....saw the value of Psyshock.
Both moves were 'Anti Sp. Wall' moves except, Psyshock was STAB and could allow Latias to sweep.

I just thought of using these guys during a lecture one day.
The key was to find bulky sweepers with excellent typing that can threaten the OU metagame.

Queen (Kingdra) @ Leftovers
Trait: Swift Swim
Nature: Lonely(+ Atk, -Def)
EVs:252 Atk /112 Sp.Atk /144 Spe
-Waterfall
-HP Fire
-Outrage
-Dragon Dance

I used to run Gyarados in 4th Gen, but I wanted a non-SR weak replacement.
I also saw a large amount of Ferrothorn, so a mixed attacker was preferred.
So enter Kingdra.
HP Fire is obviously for Ferros and also Scizors
I chose to go physical to take advantage of DD and because my team is largely special.
Also, she wrecks rain teams.

Ohms (Zapdos) @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
Nature: Modest(-Atk, +Sp.Atk)
EVs:252 HP/200 Def/24 Spe/36 Sp.def
-Thunderbolt
-Heat Wave
-Roost
-Toxic/Metal Sound?

BulkyZapdos.
He hits hard and takes fighting type attacks like a baws.
Scizor tickles him, bullet punch does around 20% after a SD
Toxic has won me many games but I'm wondering if a way to counteract Jirachi would be metal sound.
I wouldn't necessarily have to heat wave; STAB Thunderbolt from 'Dos is incredibly painful on almost anything.

Verizon (Virizion) @ Leftovers
Trait: Justified
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Spe/252 Sp.Atk/4 HP
-Giga Drain
-HP Ice
-Focus Blast
-Calm Mind

I was thinking about adding a Celebi, but then I saw this guy.
I also was aware of my T-Tar weakness.
Thus, a Grass/Fighting special bulky sweeper.
My only gripe with Virizion is that Focus Blast truly is the most unreliable move of all time, and I truly wish he had Aura Sphere.
He's switched into bulky waters, CM'd, and then proceeds to tear teams apart.
Provided Focus Blast hits.

The Conclusion.

So far this team got me to 82W-17L on the OU Ladder of PShowdown.
My main weakness is Pokemon weak to Earthquake, because none of my Pokemon have ground moves.
Donphan solved that, but Dragonites necessitated the need for a Steel physical wall.

Known major threats so far include:

Jirachi.
Specifically the CM-variant.
The physical variant can be handled by Zapdos without problem
The CM Jirachi is neigh impossible to kill after 2-3 CMs unless Kingdra is buffed.
I used to run Swampert, and he was my main bulky Steel counter.

Tyranitar. All variants.
Note that a non-CM'd Virizion does OHKO most T-tars
However, in the event that Virizion faints, T-Tar can sweep my team without a hitch.

Rate away.

landorus over Zapdos as team sturdy to scizor, kills ttar plus jirachi. set with hp ice plus expert belt lures/kills pokemon that wall virizion. work up virizion to kill chan/bliss which team has problems with plus kills Ttar.

Hey there! I see that you're using the infamous skarmbliss, butwith chansey instead. I suggest you switch chansey with vaporeon. Here's the set:
Vaporeon @ leftovers
Water absorb, bold
248 hp, 252 def, 8 spe
Scald
Wish
Heal bell
Protect/roar/toxic
Vaporeon can be a cleric too, a bulkier one that can roar away annoying threats such as jirachi. It can also deal quite a lot of damage in scald, and could even get the burn off on tyranitar to hinder it. Also, lasers proves a good point: ice does destroy your team. Vapoereon is very good at blocking ice types.
