OU Rain Team.

There seem to be a lot of rain teams now out there but I have always had this one and just slowly updated it over the past year or so since I first got my DW Politoed in Game.

Here is my Rain Team as of now.

Berry (Politoed) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 4 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Perish Song
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
This is my Initiall Rain Setter Upper as it is in most teams. It has Perish song just incase someone is on there last pokemon and I still have mine I can generally get this off to assure there death especially if it is a good staller. Hydro Pump is for stab. Ice Beam is for Coverage and Focus blast is also for more coverage. It can hit hard sometimes and alot of people think I have choice specs so they make a mistake generally against my Politoed.

SlugBug (Gastrodon-East) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Clear Smog
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Earth Power
This is my Gastrodon. Ice Beam is for Coverage as it helps alot against Dragons/Grass/Flying. Scald is one of its Stab moves which also helps on setting burn. Earth Power is another Stab move that helps against steel types and so forth. The Clear Smog is there because I could not decide on another move but helps against Dragonite because If I do not have Rocks up they try for D Dance and Clear Smog breaks Multiscale and they lose there Stat Increase which allows for an Ice Beam on them.

Vaporeon (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Hydration
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Rest
- Scald
- Roar
- Ice Beam
Here is by Bulky Vaporeon. It has rest for the Hydration so I can heal of most things. Scald for its stab and Ice Beam for Coverage. Smogon recommends either Toxic or Roar but I went with roar so I could get rid of Baton Pass teams or anyone trying to use Sub Gengar on me.

Forretress (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 104 HP / 152 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic Spikes
- Gyro Ball
- Rapid Spin
My Stealth Rocks+Toxic Spikes Rapid Spinner. Great thanks to sturdy allows me to set up rocks get rid of any entry hazards and set up my own. Gyro Ball for those faster pokemon. That is about all this guy does.

Latios (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Trick
- Surf
- Psyshock
My Latios. It Runs Choice Specs for Heavy Hits then switches outs to regain that Spc.Attack back. Trick is there to get rid of it if I predict a switch in with something that runs Choice Scarf or something else. Helps against Terrakion and Heracross because I tend to bump into the choice scarf ones alot and when they switch in they get nice glasses and I get a scarf then drop a mean Psyshock on them if they do stay in. Surf is for Rain stab and Psyshock is another stab move that helps for Blissey.

Toxicroak (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance

Here is my Toxicroak Set up. Drain Punch like always great on healing and doing great damage. Thanks to BW2 I can have Ice Punch over Substitute and knock out Gliscors that switch in or any other ground/flying that I am faster than. Sucker punch is for just a quick kill of if I know something will go faster than me and try to kill me. It works perfect with Rocks and Life Orb swords dance on killing Tornadus or Thundurus. I have not tried it on Landorus yet.

This is my team. I need to put my other EV's in so I will do that on the Export of the team that I will list below. I am open to all suggestions and what you believe would help or improve it. I am entering a tourny on BMGF and I will most likely use this team as it does well for me.

- Scald
- Earth Power

Hi Professor Jacel

Welcome to Smogon and solid rain team you have here, really like your use of offensive Gastrodon. I do have suggestions to help improve your team though. Looking at your team, Choice Specs Tornadus-T, one of the largest threats in the new Black and White 2 metagame, is quite formidable to this team. Tornadus-T outspeeds your entire team and 2HKOs every member at worst with some entry hazards up. Another threat to your team is Sun teams that can keep the weather up as Venusaur can really do a number to your team under sunshine and Toxicroak's Dry Skin ability will be reversed. For these threats, I suggest replacing Toxicroak with a Life Orb Mamoswine with a moveset of Ice Shard / Icicle Crash / Earthquake / Superpower. Mamoswine is one of the best checks to not just Tornadus-T but the new therian formes in general due to his STAB priority Ice Shard coming off of a massive base 130 Attack stat. Mamoswine also helps with your Venusaur weakness as he can outspeed the frog outside of Sun as Chlorophyll Venusaur often use a Modest nature and even under Sun he can still hit him with a super effective Ice Shard. In BW2, Mamoswine can now use the Thick Fat ability with this moveset. This halves damage taken from Fire and Ice type attacks, effectively making Mamoswine neutral to Fire and resistant to Ice which allows him to take some of the weaker Fire attacks used on Sun teams more easily. Mamoswine also makes a great check to some of the common threats seen on Sand teams such as Tyranitar, Landorus, and Gliscor. He also can handle the now common Techniloom as his base speed is higher, allowing him to outprioritize Mach Punch with Ice Shard. Superpower is chosen as the move in the last slot for a way to hit Rotom-W as well as Ferrothorn and Air Balloon Heatran for super effective.

Now for some other changes. For Forretress, a Relaxed nature is more advantageous than Impish. Relaxed nature increases Defense and decreases Speed and making him slower increases the base power of Gyro Ball. On Latios, change his nature from Modest to Timid. Although Modest gives you a boost in power, it leaves you being outsped by a large number of threats sitting at base 100, 101, and 108 speed such as Jirachi, Thundurus-T, and Terrakion. Using a Timid nature will allow you to outspeed these threats and finish them off before they can hit you and also brings you the speed tie with opposing Gengar and Latios/Latias. On Latios, I would also move the 4 HP EVs into Special Defense. Although largely negligible, making this change gives Latios an odd HP number, allowing him to survive 7 Stealth Rock switch ins instead of 6. Lastly, this is probably just a typo but you are missing 4 EVs on Gastrodon so place those into Special Defense.

Hope I helped and good luck with your team!

Set:
Mamoswine (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
-Ice Shard
-Icicle Crash
-Earthquake
-Superpower

tl;dr
Swords Dance Toxicroak ----> Life Orb Mamoswine
Impish Nature on Forretress ----> Relaxed Nature
Modest Nature on Latios ----> Timid Nature
4 HP EVs on Latios ----> 4 Special Defense EVs
Add 4 Special Defense EVs on Gastrodon
