OU Rain Team

Politoed @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic
- Ice Beam
- Haze

This is a rain starter. I put Haze because of Shuckle, Siglyph, swords dance Scizor, and boosting dragons like Garchomp.

Hitmontop (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- Rapid Spin
- Sucker Punch
- Mach Punch
- Fake Out

This is a rapid spinner. It can beat Alakazam with a Fake Out/Sucker Punch combo and nearly beat Starmie and Latios with the same combo. It does over half to Terrakion with a single Mach Punch.

Scizor @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- U-turn
- Pursuit

This is a lead. It can surprise many leads. U-Turn outspeeds and OHKOs Starmie, Latios, Alakazam, Celebi, and Azelf, and does 90% damage to Hydreigon. Superpower OHKO's Lucario. Pursuit does 80% - 90% on Gengar.

Dragonite @ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- ExtremeSpeed
- Dragon Claw
- Thunder
- Hurricane

With full special attack investment, attack and special attack are equal. Hurricane is the most powerful move, OHKOing Toxicroak, Breloom, and Conkeldurr. However, this set relies on Celebi's Nasty Plot/Baton Pass Combo in order to achieve a sweep. ExtremeSpeed is for threats which Hurricane, Thunder, and Dragon Claw fail to get rid of. However, I rarely use Dragon Claw and I can only 3HKO a specially defensive Ferrothorn with Hurricane.

Celebi @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 220 SDef / 36 Spd
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Baton Pass
- Leech Seed
- Recover

This is a support set. It is meant to take hits from Thundurus-T and Magnezone. It is also physically bulky because it only takes 40% from Infernape's Flare Blitz in the rain. Leech Seed can drain Blissey's health, which benefits other team members greatly. Baton Pass also insures a safe switch from Scizor and Tyrannitar's pursuit (since it can outspeed both if they are not scarfed).

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Trait: Hydration
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Spd
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rest
- Heal Bell
- Scald
- Acid Armor

This is a hydration Vaporeon. Despite being specially defensive, it can take physical hits with Acid Armor boosts. An unboosted Outrage from Salamence does ~65% damage. In a 1v1 scenario, if Vaporeon uses Acid Armor the turn Salamence uses Outrage, then on the second turn, Vaporeon can go from <10% (due to the second Outrage) to 100% with Rest. After 1 Acid Armor boost, defense and special defense are the same. I once stalled out a Ferrothorn with Power Whip using this set. I was at +6 from Acid Armor, and I had burned the Ferrothorn with scald. The Ferrothorn even had Leech Seed to drain me. However, this set is walled by Jellicent and Toxicroak. To solve that problem, I go into Politoed/Celebi and use Toxic/Leech Seed. I can then stall out both of them with Rest and Acid Armor.

Hey, M Kerro, pretty interesting Rain Team you have here. I have a few suggestions that should help you out though.

First off, Hitmontop is totally outclassed by Tentacruel as a Rapid Spinner, especially if used in Rain. I would recommend that you use a Sub Toxic Tentacruel set to be able to stall out bulky waters and to beat Spin Blockers such as Jellicent and Gengar. The speed investment that I'm going to recommend lets you outspeed Jolly Mamoswine so you can surprise it and take it out with a Rain Boosted Scald. This will be much appreciated since Mamoswine can revenge kill Dragonite and nothing really is safe switching into Mamoswine in general.
Here is the set:

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Rain Dish
Timid Nature 96 speed/ 248 Hp/ 164 def
Scald
Substitute
Toxic
Rapid Spin

Next Vaporeon is a pretty underwhelming Pokemon and doesn't really do too much for your team since Tentacruel can now stall out Bulky waters with Toxic as well. I would recommend using Ferrothorn over Vaporeon to give your team a nice defensive core and to provide Stealth Rocks which your team was previously lacking. Stealth Rocks are extremely important to get residual damage off on opposing teams and to keep Sun Teams from continually switching the weather on you. Ferrothorn can also provide Thunder Wave support which your team will appreciate since it is relatively slow.
You can use this set:

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Impish Nature 252 Hp/ 88 def/ 168 sp def
Stealth Rocks
Thunder Wave
Power Whip
Leech Seed/ Protect/ Spikes

Your Celebi set is strange since you have Nasty Plot, which is a fantastic move on Celebi btw, but you do not have any attacks to take advantage of it. I would recommend the following set so you do not always have to pass out to Dragonite to make use of your boosts since Celebi can be a decent sweeper in its own right.

Celebi @ Leftovers
Calm Nature 252 Hp / 224 sp def / 32 speed
Nasty Plot
Giga Drain
Recover
Baton Pass

Finally, I would recommend using Draco Meteor over Dragon Claw on Dragonite since a +2 or even +4 Draco Meteor is going to hit extremely hard and with the boosts you do not have to worry about the drops in special attack. Also, you might want to try Roost over Extremespeed to give yourself some extra longevity.

Hopefully my suggestions helped! Let me know how it works and good luck with the team!

Thanks MCBarret.

I don't have much time to play, so i am a little late in replying.

The modified team (with all requested modifications) peaked at 1900 while my previous team peaked at 1750. I am sure a skilled player could get to the top of the ladder since my team requires a lot of prediction skills, something I don't have yet.

Differences in playing:

  • My new bulky water (Tentacruel) has to be played with a lot more prediction since it does not have reliable recovery and it has a weakness to the common move Earthquake. With Vaporeon, I had a reliable wall for all special attacks except Electric attacks from Thundurus-T, Magnezone, Zekrom, and the like. With inexperienced players, I could acid armor to double as a physical wall. However, against experienced players, I would often face banded physical attacks as soon as I switched in, which would deal too much damage to use the rest/acid armor strategy. Tentacruel fares far better against most physical attackers (like CB scizor) as well as Keldeo (which might get banned) because of it's poison type resistances.
  • Previously, I had to be wary of Magnezone, since scarfed Scizor was my main revenge killer. Magnezone can do heavy damage against Scizor with HP Fire even in the rain. I have to be especially careful of Magnezone in the new team since I have 2 pokemon with a double weakness to fire (Magnezone 2HKOs Ferrothorn in the rain). This makes fighting sun teams much harder, and I lose more often to them. However, sun teams are becoming more rare, and this is going to be less of a problem for me.
  • I like the new Dragonite set. Dragonite is very bulky, and I often have time to use a roost in between attacks. I can often baton pass a nasty plot, which makes draco meteor viable. I also don't mind losing extremespeed since it had limited use (revenge killing low health pokemon at +1 speed). I can often get hazards out of the way with Tentacruel and with Multiscale, I can take any boosted attack, unless it is a crit.
