OU Refit: Taking a Step Back

After Smogon pranked everyone with the Giratina-O April Fool’s Joke (haha… very funny guys and gals) it’s time to focus our collective energy into the current meta until Aegislash gets Suspect Tested again… cough cough…

With that being said let’s jump into the team and why I decided on these particular mates.

Support Group

My Support Group here provides all the necessities with regards to utility. SR from Empoleon, Defog + HW from Latias and some HARDCORE Physical Walling + Poison Stall shenanigans from my second favorite mon, Gliscor.

The MONSTARS!!!

The MONSTARS are here to punch holes all over my opponents team… Especially Kyube as once he gets behind a Sub… Business is about to Pick UP!!!

The Mega AKA Epyon

My favorite mon period. Mega Scizor is insanely bulky and blessed with the always awesome +1 STAB Tech Boosted BP. Really need him on the team to check Fairies.

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IV: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Toxic

Role: Stealth Rock Setter / Specially Defensive Wall

Empoleon is a friggin tank with very solid 84 / 88 / 101 defenses buffed by 252 / 252+ Special Defense Investment. Basically the “Water Heatran,” I use him over Tran as he makes excellent defensive synergy with Gliscor. The Moveset is pretty standard; as you set up rocks and either burn or poison the opponent in question. Roar is here to prevent any set-up from the opponent.

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EV: 244 HP / 28 Def / 236 Spe
Impish Nature
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Protect
- Earthquake

Role: Poison Stall / Physical Defensive Wall

The other half of my defensive core; standard SubStall set that just gets the job done. Obviously the first two members are pretty passive but this is the simply a defensive pairing that is here to establish the parameters for my other members to do their thing.

Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EV: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IV: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Healing Wish

Role: Offensive Defog Support

I ♥ Latias. She is awesome and Healing Wish simply WINS GAMES!!! Otherwise, EV Spread is typical and Psyshock + DM for STAB. Defog is the secondary reason for her addition to the team, though the need to be careful when my opponent has Bisharp still up and about makes me contemplate running HP Fire or even Fighting… Could use some advice on this…

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Steam
EV: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Pursuit
- Fire Blast
- Ice Beam
- Stone Edge

Role: CharX Check / General BIG MuthaF*CKA

The dude provides so many options. First, he can Pursuit Trap the Lati Twins, which is always a plus, among other Ghost / Psychic types. Ice Beam is for Lando and Gliscor to prevent him getting walled by them. Fire Blast is here to annihilate Ferrothorn, Scizor and Skarmory while Stone Edge is TTar’s primary STAB and needed to take care of Talonflame, CharY and CharX. CharX is scary after DDing, but TTar can still surprisingly eat a +1 EQ and retaliate with Stone Miss Edge for a OHKO with SR Damage. This is why I dubbed him the BMF.

Kyurem-B @ Leftovers
Ability: Teravolt
EV: 56 HP / 252 SpA / 200 Spe
Rash Nature
- Substitute
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
- Earth Power

Role: Sub Attacker / Hitting Hard as $H!T

The other half of the MONSTARS... Kyube is simple yet destructive. Hide behind a 101 HP Subs while firing STAB Ice Beam with Fusion Bolt and EP for coverage. Yes, Kyube's typing sucks but when paired with Mega Scizor, allows for some excellent synergy.

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EV: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Knock Off

Role: The Main Man

Scizor I just can’t quit you. He eats so many hits from both sides of the spectrum. Combine that with the synergy he provides and being a possible recipient of a Healing Wish and Scizor might be mistaken for a Zombie when all is set and done. EVs maximize Scizor bulk, allowing him to be a giant nuisance to opposing teams while moveset is pretty standard; though I eschewed U-Turn for Knock Off to provide more versatility and actually allowing my SD Boost to more applicable.

This is the team and all its glory. Let me know what you guys think.

I like the team. Empoleon wraps alot of loose ends on the team that would otherwise make you lose to mega Sableye and mega Slowbro and such. Did a nice job with a the OP and the team is very solid bulky offense. I dont have any immediate suggestions, though I might try it out and see what I have to say after . Thanks n_n

Edit: If the team peaked anywhere on the ladder maybe you could include that somewhere in the OP, it will encourage people to take a look more and might possibly even try the team out n_n.

Hey, very cool and well made team! I really don't have the ability to add to much due to being on a time restraint, but I believe you should run Swords Dance Gliscor > Passive Gliscor. Your current Gliscor set is really not adding anything that the rest of your team is already providing make it's current set really redundant. It also enables you to be weak to Mega Sableye which is completely avoidable if you run SD Gliscor. It will also not only provide you with a more purposeful use for Gliscor in being able to tear apart stall and take away your Mega Sableye weakness, but still be able to give you the same wall features of that of your previous set.

I hope you were able to gain something from this and I wish you and your team the best of luck in future endeavours.
