OU RMT: Aqua Bunny Sweep

Team Aqua Bunny Sweep

TEAM BUILDING PROCESS

When making this team, I saw Azumarill's impressive ability, Huge Power.
So I built my team around it, finding ways to support it.

184azumarill.png
135jolteon.png

I saw Azumarill's glaring electric weakness, so I added Jolteon. He sucks up electric type attacks. He also serves as my special sweeper, helping Azumarill break walls.

Now, to help Azumarill sweep, I used Umbreon to sponge special hits, and Curse Pass to Azumarill. Umbreon also Wish Passes to support my whole team.

Now, I needed a Physical Wall, to also support Azumarill. I chose Metagross, as he sets up Dual Screens, to also support the whole team. I can also use Metagross as a backup Bullet Punch sweeper by letting Umbreon Curse Pass to Metagross.

Then, I saw Metagross' Ground weakness, Umbreon's Fighting/Bug weaknesss, Azumarill's Grass weakness, and Jolteon's Ground weakness. To remedy this, Gengar came to the rescue. He is another special sweeper, and is a revenge killer. He also can trick a scarf onto walls to cripple them.

Now, I needed a Lead. I liked the Anti-Lead Weavile set on Smogon, so I used him. He can prevent Non-Bulky Azelf's from getting the rocks up. But, technomancer suggested I use Swampert.

AN IN-DEPTH LOOK
.........................

LEAD

swampert.png
rsitem164.png

Swampert @ Leftovers
Impish Nature
252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Def
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Roar

Swampert was suggested by technomancer. I took his advice, and it probably will work much better than Weavile did. He is very Bulky, and sets up SR to help my sweepers get OHKOs. Roar is for pHazing, and I've heard EdgeQuake gives good coverage. I guess he can come back later in the match to wall, and to re setup SR.

SYNERGY - Grass - Gengar

PHYSICAL WALL

376metagross.png
light-clay.png

Metagross @ Light Clay
Impish Nature
252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Def
-Light Screen
-Reflect
-Earthquake
-Bullet Punch

Metagross is my physical wall. He can set up Dual Screens to support the whole team. Bullet Punch is for at least one attacking option, and for picking away other walls/sweepers HP. I used Bullet Punch over Meteor Mash as Umbreon might Curse+Baton Pass, and Metagross still needs to take as few hits as he can, and for quickly finishing off other sweepers. If I see a Physical Threat, I Reflect first. If I see a Special Threat, I Light Screen first. I added EQ/ThunderPunch (?) for a 2nd attacking option. EQ maims Magnezone, so I may use EQ.

SYNERGY - Ground - Gengar
Fire - Azumarill

SPECIAL SWEEPER

135jolteon.png
ChoiceSpecs.png

Jolteon @ Choice Specs
Timid Nature
252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power (ICE)
-Shadow Ball
-Signal Beam

Jolteon is my special sweeper/backup revenge killer. He works well with Azumarill because he absorbs T-Bolts aimed at Azumarill. Thunderbolt is for STAB, and with HP Ice, forms the amazing BoltBeam coverage. Shadow Ball also hits Ghosts hard. If Gengar goes down, Jolteon is there for my backup Revenge Killer.

SYNERGY - Ground - Gengar

REVENGE KILLER

th_094gengar.png
ChoiceScarf.png

Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Modest Nature
252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Blast
-Thunderbolt
-Trick

Gengar is my Revenge Killer/backup special sweeper. He sucks up a lot of this teams weaknesses. (Type-wise) He has Shadow Ball for nice unresisted coverage with Focus Blast. T-Bolt is for Gyarados, and Focus Blast hits Lucario. (Hopefully) When he comes across a bulky wall, he can Trick the Scarf onto the wall, hopefully crippling them. If I get something stupid, like a Choice Band, I can use it to get a special sweeper. He also takes the EQ's Metagross can't.

SYNERGY - Ghost - Umbreon
Psychic - Umbreon, Metagross

SPECIAL WALL

Spr_4p_197_s.png
rsitem164.png

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Sassy Nature
252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
-Curse
-Wish
-Baton Pass
-Payback

Umbreon is my main supporter/special wall. Curse gives Umbreon more power and bulk, but sacrificing his horrible speed stat. This works to my advantage, however, as it lets the Baton Pass target not get hit on the way in. He also carries Wish to provide support to my whole team, not just Metagross and Azumarill. Wish is also invaluable, as when paired with Dual Screens, makes Umbreon harder to take down. Baton Pass also lets me Wish pass, letting Umbreon take the hit, not the frail Gengar who recieves the Wish.

SYNERGY - Fighting - Gengar
Bug - Gengar

THE TERMINATOR
184azumarill.png
ChoiceBand.png

Azumarill "Terminator" @ Choice Band
Adamant Nature
252 HP / 4 Spe / 252 Atk
-Aqua Jet
-Double Edge/Return
-Superpower/Brick Break
-Ice Punch

Azumarill is the deadly physical sweeper of my team. He is the star of my team, and gets lots of support to do his job. Curse, Wish, and Dual Screens all help him sweep. Aqua Jet bypasses Azumarill's horrible speed, and provides a STAB option. Double Edge has more power than Aqua Jet, and has nice coverage with Aqua Jet. Superpower muscles through Heatran, and Blissey. (If she has the guts to stay in!) Ice Punch provides a way to maim Dragons who may try to switch in to take Aqua Jet.

SYNERGY: Electric - Jolteon
Grass - Gengar

Now....

Rate My Team! (Please!)

baton pass on choicespec'd jolteon is kinda useless, so try charge beam in that slot because it should KO and hopefully get a boost.

umbreon@leftovers
=impish=
~sychronize~
252hp / 102atk / 154sp.def
-toxic
-protect
-wish
-dig / payback
this is a fun set I have that is great at toxicstall and dig is mentioned because it takes care of defensive steels and more stalling.

Weavile is a weak lead for this team because it can almost never come back to help later, and people won't attack it physically if they know about counter, they can just switch on the taunt. Ttar beats it and comes back for more, as does heatran and azelf if you bring ice punch. I would switch to a bulky pokemon like uxie, swampert, celebii or machamp, just to give you more options.

I may switch to Swampert. Thanks!!

Sorry Man, but my Umbreon is for Support, not Stall. Plus, I never use Dig, as EQ has 200 BP while underground. Also, I hate it when people switch to a flying type. (Skarmory) Baton Pass might get changed to Charge Beam, but I'll get stuck to it. Baton Pass was just for scouting.

I see one glaring weakness in Azumarill... the item. Choice Band leads to constant switches to change up your attack, negating any passed Curses, and leaving you constantly taking hits from entry hazards.

Also, Baton Pass can be kept if you want to change Thunderbolt to Charge Beam, but the Choice Specs prevent this, so I suggest just finding another decent attack (a tall order on an Eeveelution) Signal Beam could be helpful.

Bronzong usually makes a better Dual Screener, but you obviously want to keep some offense in Bullet Punch. Consider the change though.

With all of the switches from Choice Items, I HIGHLY suggest finding a place for a Rapid Spinner. Screens may help when switching into attacks, but they do squat against Entry hazards, chipping away even if they did resist.

I noticed that most of your team is relying on gengar for the safe switch, and to be honest, it doesn't have much staying power, even with the wish passes. To remedy this, I would trade out metagross for something that has similar synergy to gengar, so that if it goes down your team can keep on rolling. The loss of screens is a bummer, but most of your team (barring gengar) is bulky anyway, so you don't loose TOO much without them. Seeing as what you need is a flyer/levitator for ground, resist or be able to take grass hits, won't die to electricity, and beats dragons, I'd recommend scarf flygon. It'll give you the same ground immunity as gengar and let you switch it to a more versatile set.

Here's the set:
Flygon @choice scarf
Jolly
252Atk/4SpD/252Spe
~Earthquake
~Outrage
~U-turn
~Stone edge

True, it doesn't get the stellar speed or wall breaking ability that gengar does, but it provides switch advantage and scouting (with U-turn) and dragon slaying (with either stone edge of outrage) capabilities. I don't know of a blissey that can beat out Azumaril anyway, so I don't see it as that huge a loss. I would also recommend changing Gengar to the life orb set and giving it either hypnosis or Hp fire. That way he isn't totally owned by scizors and can still sleep a wall if it comes down to it.

As a final note, Flygon's weaknesses, Ice and Dragon, don't add too much strain on your team's synergy, as you have Umbreon, swampert, and azumaril to soak up that damage.

Thanks for the advice. I'll un-Scarf Gengar. I believe Azumarill needs CB to give it more power. I really cannot find a Rapid Spinner to replace anyone. I may use
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Blast
-Pain Split
-Substitute
@Life Orb

I may have to un CB Azumarill, but I can't find a viable replacement. I'll take Baton Pass off of Jolteon for Signal Beam.

@3vs3rnoob

Sorry, but I CAN'T get rid of screens, as they had let Umbreon take an Explosion, with 0 Curses. (This is a Wi-Fi Team)
This team isn't even EV trained... yet. (That was on PBR Random, so the opponent sorta sucked )

I guess Gengar could get replaced.

A quick question i want to ask before getting into anything is:
Why are you Curse-passing to Azumaril? He's not very fast, so i don't really see you being able to accept that speed loss. And i personally don't think that CB is needed on him either simply because of his ability (Huge Power). That's like having 2 CB's on him. LO would be a better exchange if you still need some extra power. But Leftover's might do him some good too just for the extra couple of turns it can buy you during you're sweep. Can you imagine an azumaril with 2+ curses, dual screens, a sub, AND leftovers. You'd be nearly unstoppable. :)

I personally wouldn't run this set. I would get rid of Gengar altogether for something a little bulkier. You could always go with that Scarf Flygon that was mentioned earlier. That would take Gengar's place and then some.

Bronzong usually makes a better Dual Screener, but you obviously want to keep some offense in Bullet Punch. Consider the change though.

This is a good idea since Bronzong would be able to switch in on predicted EQ's and set up a Light Screen for the incoming Fire Blast on the switch. Bronzong has more longevity then metagross esp considering you're use of Light Clay instead of Leftovers. I agree with the Bullet Punch idea, but you might want to consider at least trying out Bronzong in Metagross's place to see how he fits with your playstyle.

With all of the switches from Choice Items, I HIGHLY suggest finding a place for a Rapid Spinner. Screens may help when switching into attacks, but they do squat against Entry hazards, chipping away even if they did resist.

This is why i don't like running more than one Choice Item, since i hate having to have a Rapid Spinner to cover them. If you decide to stick with mulitple Choice Items, then you should also decide to have a rapid spinner.

One more thing, have you considered a LOJolteon? It will allow you to not have to switch out as much due to the lock in that the Choice Items demand, with little power loss. Just a thought tho.
