OU RMT (Good Success)

Introduction

This is my first team to post on smogon, and I am posting it because it was quite successful. It won about 3 OU stark cups and a bunch of other fun matches. There are some flaws, and one of the members Latias, is unfortunately and fortunately going uber. So some advice on who should fill her spot would be nice.

Machamp (M) |
lum-berry.png

Ability| No Guard
EVs| 248HP/252 Atk/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dynamicpunch
- Payback
- Bullet Punch
- Ice Punch
--------
Set Analysis:
Machamp is one of the best anti-leads in the current metagame. Machamp puts players in a sticky situation right in the beginning, they can either SR and lose their lead, or attack and usually no SR for them and they fail to OKHO him and lose their lead while you scout another member of their team while preventing SR.
The moves are basic Ice punch over stone edge to deal with lead Gliscors. Bullet punch to finish off sashed pokemon. Payback to deal with ghosts. Last move to be mentioned dynamic punch the stabbed fight 100 base power automatic confusion this is what fucks up every lead.
--------
EVs & Nature:
EVs are simple as well, 252 HP for bulk to withstand Azlef’s psychic as well as opposing machamps D-Punch. 252 ATK to deal as much damage to the other leads as possible. 8 speed is there to outspeed other anti lead machamps who run 1 point slower.
--------
Lead Comparison:
dpiconani482.gif
| Azelf-
Payback, they normally SR but even if they do psychic machamp lives with a calculation of 86.2% - 101.8% .
dpiconani376.gif
| Metagross
Metagross- Probably the best counter to Machamp, I always D-Punch 1st turn to scout item, if they have Lum I go to Heatran, occa/shucca I take my chances and D-Punch again.
dpiconani385.gif
| Jirachi
Go to Heatran right away to either absorb scarf or take an iron head with a free turn to SR.
dpiconani142.gif
| Aerodactyl
D-Punch then BP.
dpiconani260.gif
| Swampert
Keep D-PUNCHING!
dpiconani392.gif
|Infernape
D-Punch
dpiconani407.gif
| Roserade
Ice punch then BP.
dpiconani485.gif
| Heatran
D-punch
dpiconani068.gif
| Machamp
Dpunch, then hopefully I have more speed to Dpunch for the ohko.

Celebi |
Bag_Leftovers_Sprite.png

Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/220 Def/36 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunder Wave
- Grass Knot
- Recover
- Hidden Power [Fire]
--------
Set Analysis:
Basic wall Celebi. Thunder wave is for support which helps the entire team with speed issues. Grass knot because of stab and because it’s better then energy ball. Recover for obvious reasons. Last but not least the most important move on this Celebi HP fire. I’ve tried earthpower and HP ice and HP fire works out the best. HP fire deals with Breloom and also Scizor but the calculation on hp fire is only 71.1% - 84% to Scizor, so I wait a few turns for SR and other moves to weaken it a bit before I HP fire.
--------
EVs & Nature:
Again Basic EV’s and nature 36 speed to outspeed all jolly tyranitars and rest in HP and def so it can take some hits.
---------------------------------

Jirachi |
Bag_Leftovers_Sprite.png

Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/220 Def/36 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Wish
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic
--------
Set Analysis:
The most versatile pokemon in the game, Jirachi. By utilizing Calm Mind and Wish, Jirachi can act as both a sweeper and cleric all in one set to my other pokemon. Typing makes it extremely hard to take down and also is not vulnerable to toxic which is a kick to the face to most pokemon that set up. Thunderbolt over Flash cannon for the x2 on boosting suicunes, and for the for coverage that only 2 pokemon are immune to considering latias is now uber.
--------
EVs & Nature:
EVs in Defense to give it physical bulk. This spread allows Jirachi to survive a +1 Adamant Life Orb Earthquake from Gyarados while it is at full health, and 36 speed providing you with enough Speed to outpace max Speed Tyranitar.
---------------------------------
dpmfa485.png

Heatran (M) |
Bag_Leftovers_Sprite.png

Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP/16 SAtk/240 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Will-o-wisp
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast/Flamethower
- Roar
--------
Set Analysis:
My Jirachi, Rotom-A, and other sp attacking pokemon counter. People will probably laugh at this set, but believe me IT WORKS! Will-o-Wisp is an amazing move it catches so many pokemon of guard because seriously who uses w-o-w. It cripples swamperts, tyranitars, Salamences, and other pokemon that love to switch into it. SR for obvious reasons, it is the best move in the game. Fireblast for the stab attack that deals with jirachi and other threats and because I love getting flash fire. Last Roar which keeps things for setting up on me, and this is my main switch into CM jirachi and since I lack a lot of sp atk I can make up with that in roar to keep boosting pokemon out.
--------
EVs & Nature:
Simple EV’s 252 HP to make keep it alive while it continues to switch into Rotom-A’s tbolts, jirachis iron head ect. 252 SP Def to make it a great sp wall and its main purpose to keep CM rachis from sweeping who I hate so much to face.

Metagross |
Bag_Choice_Scarf_Sprite.png

Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 28 HP/252 Atk/228 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch
--------
Set Analysis:
My revenge killer. Again people will probably laugh at this set but IT WORKS! People find out im scarfed and when they do it always costs them 1 pokemon at least. I’ve killed so many mix mences with ice punch and so make apes with EQ. It outspeeds and ohkos DD gara assuming adamant nature. Also OHKOs trans ,ecause the metagame is totally weird now and who uses scarf tran nowadays?!?!
--------
EVs & Nature:
With a Jolly nature, 228 EVs in Speed, and a Choice Scarf, Metagross reaches 384 Speed. This allows Metagross to outspeed all Pokémon with base Speed lower than 130. Metagross is capable of revenge killing common OU Pokémon such as Infernape, Life Orb Gengar, and Salamence without a Dragon Dance. Maximum Attack is a given on such an offensive set.
---------------------------------
Spr_4p_380.png

Latias (F) |
Bag_Leftovers_Sprite.png

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Surf
- Recover
--------
Set Analysis:
I know latias is now uber, and I need advice on who I should substitute for her. When she was OU I added her to my team for her amazing coverage her synergy with cm latias and its amazing move pool and stats. I know scarf Tars are EVERYWHERE that’s why I usually just duble switch to scout if they have a one. Moves are simple CM CM CM CM and sweep.
--------
EVs & Nature:
EV’s and nature are also simple 252 sp atk and 252 speed to speed tied gengars and opposing latias’s. and the sp atk to deal as much damage as possible.
---------------------------------
Conclusion
This team had some great success and I feel if someone were to ladder with it, it would have success too. Unfortunately I’m to lazy and tired of getting d/ced so I don’t like to ladder that much. And the main reason for posting this team was to seek help on a latias sub and to seek help on improvements. I hope you liked my Team please comment!

Honestly, I think your scarf Metagross can definitely change after Latias moves to Uber. Here is what I would change with your team to make it current.

Change Metagross to this set:
Adamant Metagross @ Life Orb:
112 HP / 252 Atk / 12 Def / 132 Spe
Rock Polish
Earthquake
Thunderpunch
Ice Punch

Personally, I use this Metagross over the ones with Meteor Mash for this reason: What are you really hitting with MM that is really worth it? The only Pokemon worth using MM on is Tyranitar, but wait, what's that? You already have another move that hits super effective? I had no idea. I know I'm not the only person to use this Metagross, but it really has served me well. Also, I use Life Orb on it because it gives the elemental punches more kick that you want, but im sure Leftovers is a suitable alternative.

In place of Latias, I would use something extremely similar to it that still gets just as good of coverage as it.

Modest Starmie @ Choice Scarf
4 HP / 252 Spa / 252 Spe
Hydro Pump/Surf
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Trick

This is something I have been testing out recently and works quite well in place of Latias. Scarf Starmie is there to out-speed and threaten two Pokemon that I am expecting to see come back on a rise with the bane of Latias: Scarftran and MixApe. Actually, Starmie is your only real answer to MixApe outside of Metagross with a Rock Polish boost. It might not be as bulky as Latias, but when paired with Celebi and Heatran, it can be helped support its weight, and also with Wish passes from Jirachi that you might do. It can also trick the scarf onto incoming Blissey, which I find useful.

Hope my rate helped.

Only problem with Scarf starmie is that multiple switch ins to Ape will kill it quickly 47.7% - 56.1% That is the clac from a Phsycial ape to Scarf starmie so i cant use it as a realiable counter but maybe bulky Star would work id stuipd scarf tars werent so popular, and the only think about Agility meta i dislike is the Agility part i dont like having to set up scarf meta gets the OHKOs it needs which is imporant and it can also suprise and ohko Ape

To answer your question on what to replace latias with is to use suicune. With this set:

suicune@leftovers
Nature: bold
EV's: 252Hp 252def 4Spe
Moves:

Calm Mind
Surf
Substitute
Ice Beam/Toxic/Hp Electric

This set allows you to safely fire of CM from a sub and atk with STAB surf. The last slot is up to self preferance, ice beam lets you hit grass types and flying types hard and you don't need to worry about status because of the sub. Toxic helps force switches and get free CM's or subs. hp electric lets you deal with gyara and vappy

Good Luck!

Thanks for the post but still even Coon cant switch into Ape tht make times it takes a lot from CC and also Sub tran does around 50% with LO HP grass which can be a prob but i will for sure try it thanks!

hmm maybe a bulky starmie might be a good replacement to latias.

That was my next test Ive so far tried bulky gdos, Suicune both kinda failed maybe this team doesnt work as well without latias But ill for sure try bulky starmie! thanks for your post
