Well this is my first RMT as it's also the first time I've tried to ladder in Gen V OU. The team I have seems to work really well, but there might be a weakness I'm not seeing or something that may work better with the team, so here we go:
Thundurus (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Taunt

Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Taunt
While this is technically my LO sweeper, I put it in the Lead spot to show to my opponents in Team Preview. The set is easy enough to understand. Nasty Plot quickly doubles Thundurus's Special Attack. Thunderbolt provides a strong STAB move while HP Ice forms a pseudo BoltBeam combo. Taunt stops the likes of Ferrothorn from setting up in my face. The EVs maximize Thundurus's sweeping potential.
Virizion @ Leftovers
Trait: Justified
EVs: 228 HP / 48 SAtk / 232 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Giga Drain
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Trait: Justified
EVs: 228 HP / 48 SAtk / 232 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Giga Drain
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Virizion works as a good special tank and counter to rain teams. Calm Mind gives Virizion's decent Special Attack and high Special Defense a boost. Giga Drain gives Virizion a form of recovery and is able to take down bulky Waters and Ground types. Focus Blast crushes most Steel types and is the stronger of Virizion's 2 STAB moves. HP Ice takes out Gliscor, Landorus, and the numerous Dragons. The EVs give Virizion decent bulk and enough Speed to outpace the base 105 Speed Pokemon.
Garchomp (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Claw
Trait: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Claw
One of the best Choice Scarfers in the game and it pairs very well with my other Choice user. EQ and Outrage give Garchomp nearly unresisted coverage in OU. Fire Blast is there to catch the likes of Ferrothorn and Skarmory off guard. Dragon Claw gives Garchomp a more reliable Dragon STAB to use early in the match so I don't have to risk something setting up in my face/killing Garchomp too early by having to use Outrage. EVs maximize Garchomp's Speed and Attack. Jolly is used since I use Garchomp to revenge kill things like Salamence and Volcarona; 2 Pokes who love boosting their Speed.
Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 236 HP / 216 Atk / 56 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- U-turn
Trait: Technician
EVs: 236 HP / 216 Atk / 56 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- U-turn
Odds are, what Garchomp doesn't like, Scizor likes and vice versa. While Garchomp can revenge kill most Speed boosters, Scizor is able to finish off many Pokemon that have been weakened over the course of a battle. Scizor's Bullet Punch is one of the best revenge killing moves in the game with its power. Pursuit is able to trap things like Latios, Latias, Espeon, Xatu, and others. Superpower is for slaming Steels like Heatran and Ferrothorn. U-Turn is for scouting and busting Subs. The EVs give Scizor insane power and decent bulk. The 56 Defense EVs seem weird, but help against faster priority users.
Gastrodon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 248 HP / 20 SAtk / 240 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Scald
- Toxic
- Recover
- Earth Power
Trait: Storm Drain

Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Scald
- Toxic
- Recover
- Earth Power
At first, Gastrodon seems like an oddball on the team, but in actuality, it is one of my saviors against rain teams. It's one of the few things I have that can reliably prevent Toxicroak from setting up on me or things like Specs Politoed or Azumarrill from crushing something. It also helps that Gastrodon's lone weakness is resisted by 4 other team members. Scald provides a Water STAB and neat 30% burn chance. Toxic cripples walls and Recover instantly recovers 50% of Gastrodon's HP. Earth Power is a secondary STAB option that allows Gastrodon to defeat some of the most annoying Pokemon in the game in Toxicroak in rain and TormentTran. The EVs focus strongly on Gastrodon's special bulk as it can burn physical sweepers via Scald.
Heatran (M) @ Shuca Berry
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Stealth Rock
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Stealth Rock
This is the more natural lead. It provides key resistances for my team and an all-important immunity to Fire attacks which includes the all powerful sun boosted CB V-create from Victini. Heatran is indeed my best Poke against Sun teams absorbing the boosted Fire attacks and 4x resisting the Grass attacks. Stealth Rock gives the team entry hazzard support and restricts how much some Pokes can come in. Fire Blast is Heatran's strongest move and will dent anything that doesn't resist it and isn't named Blissey or Chansey. Earth Power handles opposing Heatran and other Fire types like Darmanitan and Ninetails. HP Grass allows Heatran to take out things like Gastrodon, Swampert, and Quagsire. The EVs maximizes Heatran's offensive power.
So that's basically it. I'll add a threat list soon. Tear it apart if you find something wrong with it or suggest something better if you think it'll work well.
