[OU RMT] Lol, it's all Water and Steel.

Welcome to my third RMT here. This one was originally based on Bulky Gyarados and AgiliGross, but that didn't work that good. So I tweaked the team a bit, and only 3 members of the previous team remained. Those are Starmie, Gyarados and Metagross.

When you take a quick look at the team, you'll see it's only Water and Steel. That wasn't really my purpose, but when I was tweaking the team, I kept adding those two types. At first I thought, this will suck. But it worked out pretty well. =]

Quick Notes:

1 Pokémon weak to SR, 2 Resist
5 Pokémon are hit by Spikes
2 Pokémon are hit by Toxic Spikes
I have a Rapid Spinner
Every type, except Electric and Ground, are resisted at least twice.
The whole teams resists Steel =O

Changes are in red.

In depth:

Starmie @ Life Orb

EVs: 4 HP, 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed
Nature: Timid
Ability: Natural Cure
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin

Starmie is my lead because... Eeh.. Well, he was the only one who could be a decent lead, without changing the moveset. This set really surprised me as a lead, I like it a lot. Hydro Pump is usually the first move, followed by another one or Rapid Spin, depening on the other lead. Then he's done its job as a lead, and I'll use it as a sweeper later in the match.

The moveset is very standard, so I don't need to explain it further, do I?

Scizor @ Choice Band
EVs: 248 HP, 252 Attack, 8 Speed
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
- U-Turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit

You all know the set, and so do I. Scizor gives me some nice resistances, and I love having a lot of 'em. U-Turn is one of my favourite moves, because it gives you such a big advantage with double-switching. Bullet Punch is the infamous cheap priority move, and Superpower rounds the coverage. Pursuit is a fun move against things that you force out, like Blissey.

Heatran @ Leftovers
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Attack, 252 Speed
Nature: Timid
Ability: Flash Fire
- Substitute
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Toxic

I apparently forgot how good SubTran is. This guy sets up at a lot of Pokémon, and attracts Bulky Waters like a magnet. That the reason why I use Toxic here, because this team dislikes Bulky Waters. They switch in, and get a nice poison in return.

Sometimes the loss of a third attack hurts, but most Pokémon that resist this combination don't enjoy Toxic, like Latias.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
EVs: 152 HP, 176 Attack, 36 Defense, 144 Speed
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Intimidate
- Taunt
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge

The role of this one varies a lot. Sometimes I use it as a tank, to keep threats as Scizor and Lucario in check. But at other times, he just sets up and demolishes the opponent's defenses. It largely depends on the situation.

Those EVs were taken from the analysis, because they are exactly what I wanted. They gave me a good balance between offense and defense. Those Attack EVs give me just enough power to OHKO most Zapdos after a DD and Stealth Rock and the Speed EVs let me outpace Timid Gengar. I don't feel like running more speed, because I can't KO Starmie anyway and I've to sacrifice some bulk.

I'm currently running Stone Edge as my second move. It gives me a semi-reliable attack against Flying types, and it hits Latias quite hard.

Swampert @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Defense, 4 Speed
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Torrent
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Roar

The Bulky guy, he sets up SR and is my Phazer. I used to have Surf in the last slot, for damaging those annoying Rotom formes, a minor threat to this team. But that left me wide-open for CMCune, a much bigger threat) to set-up on me. So I changed it to Roar, as Heatran handles those Rotom's much better.

Metagross @ Life Orb
EVs: 124 HP, 252 Attack, 132 Speed
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Clear Body
- Agility
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Explosion

This guy cleans up the mess. I knew I was going for a Steel-typed late-game sweeper, because they pair up quite well with Gyarados. I had to make a tough decision: Lucario or Metagross? I've chosen Metagross, because this team isn't that speedy.

The EVs are from the analysis, they let me outrun Choice Scarf Heatran.

This is a pretty fun team to use, and it has been a month or so since my last team. I needed something new, and here it is.

A final glance:

This is an excellent offensive team, but it seems to have one very big problem, which is a weakness to stall. You have no recovery on any of your Pokemon, and no mixed attackers. This means that it seems your entire team can be fairly easily Skarmblissed to death. Taunt Gyarados does go a long way towards breaking stall, but it loses to Skarm 1 v 1, because Brave Bird does more to Gyara than Gyara can do back. I recommend replacing Toxic on Heatran with Explosion, as a timely removal of Bliss can do wonders against any stall team. It complements this set particularly well, as very few people predict an explosion from behind a sub.

Ok interesting team.

But I think a few things can be improved.

On starmie, do you want to try Recover over Ice Beam/Thunderbolt? It gives Starmie the ability to recover LO damage and adds to Starmie's ability to sweep late-game.

The above poster is right in saying that you are too easily walled by Skarmbliss. THis can be solved two ways.
1) Change toxic for explosion or
2) Use a Nasty Plot Mixape.
The mixape set:
64 ATK, 252 SPE, the rest in SPA.
-Close Combat
-Grass Knot / HP Ice
-Fire Blast
-Nasty Plot
THe given EV's mean Close COmbat OHKO's blissey and Fire Blast can take care of Skarmory.
If however, you choose explosion on heatran, then you should have a Naive Nature with 4 ATK EV's, 252 SPA and SPE. Use an expert belt as the item for added SE damage. Life Orb works just as well, possibly better.

Gyarados is okay, but why don't you try Bounce over Stone Edge. It gives you the ability to force Celebi out or do serious damage to it. It also gives you unrestricted type coverage.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Hope I helped somewhat

Im glad offense is being used to the high ability here, but your problem has now been stated twice.

The o so common skarmbliss walls your team in general. Not only that thou, but if crocune can get a cm up your in deep shit.

The easiest way to fix this is add explosion to this team. Heatran and Meta both work wonders for this.
If you want to keep the agiligross sweep there then give it to tran, but if you want to keep toxic then go with Explosion > ice punch.

No one expects agiligross to carry explosion and infact you really might consider making the switch heavily.

explosion from metagross will just about destroy anything for you and you can still have late game sweeps with pokes like gyarados and sub tran.

You're right about my weakness to stall. Gyarados helps a lot with Taunt, but that isn't enough. I'll give Metagross Explosion, as Yondie suggested. It also helps with my CMCune weakness.

Thanks for your rates ^^

Im going to try to rate your team.

First thing I've noticed is that you have a bulkier team that utilizes Life Orb to do its damage. Whenever you have this, you need to be aware of faster pokemon that can take advantage of this and sweep through your team. Infernape is very capable of beating 4/6 of your team. Starmie is the only pokemon that will never lose. Gyarados won't last long as it has Stealth Rock weakness and takes a lot of damage from Grass Knot. If Infernape has Nasty Plot, Gyarados won't do anything to stop Infernape, even with Intimidate. As your lead Starmie won't be lasting long anyways. The only way you have of effectively beating Infernape is to get the Intimidate with Gyarados at least once, and then killing off Infernape with Heatran's Earth Power, since Infernape's special moves hit everyone else super effectively.

The ultimate counter for Infernape is Latias, who I think would fit in very nicely in your team. I think Latias would go in well instead of Heatran. You said that Heatran attracts bulky waters, Suicune being one of them. It has already been established you are weak to Crocune, and Crocune sets up easily on Heatran. Latias still deals with those bulky waters, and does much better against Crocune, hitting it hard with Thunderbolt and then Draco Meteor.

Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid
- Draco Meteor | Dragon Pulse
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Recover | Hidden Power [Fire]

This would really help too against Infernape. Also, Latias will attract some Dragon- and Ice-type attacks which will allow Metagross to set up, as would a Pursuit from Scizor or Tyranitar. Latias would help round out your resistances to and help in transition to. With Recover you gain a bit of staying power as well.

I hope that helped. Good Luck!

Ironically, I've had a Latias on my team, at Heatran's spot. But I hate Pursuit weaknesses on a team like this, and while Latias fits nice on paper, it didn't work really well.

I suggest this build for a pretty good crocune counter.

Latias @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid
- Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Trick

Yeah Latias is pursuit bait but this choice scarf set lets you destroy crocune or any other wall by tricking it, while providing more insurance against sweepers like gyarados and shutting down infernape.

Choice Scarf Latias is one of the worst sets for this team. It's like the biggest Pursuit bait in the game. The only thing it reliably checks is outraging Salamence, and they can switch in a pursuiter after the kill.
