Ok, this is my second OU RMT that I've thought up. After DarkCyberElf poked apart my last, horribly constructed team, I decided to put more thought into a new one (no offence meant, I agree now that you point that info out). I think this team is more balanced than my last one, I actually added something to take hits and support the team as well as lay
down SR.
I still don't think this is the best my team could be (Hey, why bother posting it here if you think that?) and it'll probably have some problems with it, but I hope the team is at least salvageable.
Azelf @ Focus Sash
Levitate
Timid, 252 Sp Atk/4 Sp Def/252 Spe
Nasty Plot
Psychic
Fire Blast
HP Fighting
Azelf is my lead, as well as my main special attacker because of it's high speed and special attack. These moves let me hit everything in OU for neutral damage except Starmie and Latias, a decent feature on Azelf. Focus Sash ensures I get a Nasty Plot off, and then hit hard on turn two. Azelf's Levitate can prove useful for taking Earthquakes and other ground moves aimed at Heatran if SR isn't up for some reason, or Azelf wasn't put at 1-23 HP previously. I use HP Fighting over Grass Knot for hitting Tyranitar harder, and for Heatran, who otherwise has little worry about this set. Psychic is for STAB, and Fire Blast is mostly a strong filler, but it does hit Metagross and Skarmory, which is nice.
Weavile @ Expert Belt
Pressure
Hasty, 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Pursuit
Ice Shard
Night Slash
Brick Break
Weavile is one of my revenge killers, only really here to deal with speed boosted dragons with Ice Shard. Weavile has a 4x weakness to fighting, and my only fighting resists are Azelf, who is very frail, and Gyarados, who shares it's weakness to rock, so I don't have good synenergy with the rest of my team.
Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Flash Fire
Timid, 4 HP/252 Sp Atk/252 Spe
HP Electric
Earth Power
Fire Blast
Dragon Pulse
Heatran is my secondary special attacker/ revenge killer. It's strong typing, as well as hard hitting moves benefit my team once Azelf goes down. Flash Fire lets me get a boost and hit hard while absorbing Fire attacks aimed at Bronzong, Scizor, and Weavile. That's also one of the main ways I usually get Heatran into play. If Gyarados goes down, I otherwise have a huge hole fire types can walk through so Heatran works against that factor well, hitting that 417 speed that no unboosted/scarfed OU pokemon can beat, and smashing those Fire-types with Earth Power. Dragon Pulse is a strong attack and gives unresisted coverage with Fire Blast, my STAB. It also deals with Flygon, and Dragon-type locked Salamence. HP Electric hits those Water-types that Heatran can't do much to normally, and also deals with Gyarados.
Scizor @ Salac Berry/Muscle Band/ ?
Technician
Adamant, 152 HP/252 Atk/100 Spe
Bullet Punch
Night Slash
Swords Dance
X-Scissor
Scizor is one of my physical sweepers, as everyone knows that what Scizor does. Bullet Punch is my main attack for STAB and Technician boost, Swords Dance sends it even higher. Scizor's 4x weakness to fire is covered by Heatran and to a lesser extent, Gyarados. I usually
get it in after somthing faints, or to counter a Ghost-type via Night Slash, or to take a resisted hit of some sort. X-Scissor is another STAB attack and mauls Celebi, taking that problem out of play. I'm not sure on item choice, Salac gives Scizor some potential outside of Bullet Punch, but Muscle Band boosts my attacks further, giving Bullet Punch more power. Of course, another item would probably be better than both of these, but I just don't like
to use Choice Scizor, of any kind.
Bronzong @ Leftovers
Levitate
Sassy, 252 HP/158 Def/100 Atk
Stealth Rock
Hypnosis
Earthquake
Gyro Ball
Bronzong is my support pokemon, with SR and Hypnosis for team options. Since Azelf is so frail, and Gyarados I like to save for later, Bronzong usually takes Earthquakes aimed at Heatran and throws Hypnosis or Earthquake at the opponent. That's also how it gets for the first time, in most cases, or taking a resisted hit, setting SR up and possibly forcing a
switch if my opponent is choiced in the process. Gyro Ball hits Weavile or other fast pokemon hard, setting up a sweep for Gyarados and Scizor later in the game. Bronzong's Fire weakness is (as mentiond above) covered by Gyarados and Heatran. The EVs, with the nature, give Bronzong
338 HP/293 Def/294 Sp Def, a well balanced defensive spread, and the 100 Atk EVs give the bit of an unexpected boost to hit harder than the 80 Atk EVs normally given.
Gyarados @ Lax Incense/ ?
Intimidate
Jolly, 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
Waterfall
Stone Edge
Ice Fang
Dragon Dance
Ah, I love using this thing. Later in the game, Gyarados comes in on a ground move
aimed at Heatran and then sets up Dragon Dance and smashes through a weakened team with little
effort. Water/Flying gives the nice ground immunity to the team, as well as an alternate fire
type counter if Heatran is down or weakened too much to take somthing thrown at it next turn.
Gyarados does have some problems though, my lack of a spinner or a ground type dosen't help it
at all, and once Gyarados comes in, it usually sets up and goes as far as it can before fainting. Not the best strategy, but it does major damage once the opposing team is worn down
some.
