[OU RMT] Team Balance

Swampert @ Leftovers
Torrent
Relaxed
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk
- Roar
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam

Swampert can Stealth Rock and Roar to cause damage to forced in pokemon, while also giving me a good look at the opponent's team. Earthquake does great whenever a pokemon weak to ground is Roared out and Ice Beam protects against Salamence, Dragonite, and Flygon.

Infernape @ Life Orb
Blaze
Naive
252 Atk | 64 Sp.Atk | 192 Spd
- Overheat
- Close Combat
- U-Turn
- Stone Edge

Just primarily a great sweeper with good speed so if no move is going to work very well against the opposition, it can quickly U-Turn out of there.

385.png

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Serene Grace
Impish
240 HP | 160 Def | 76 Sp.Def | 32 Spd
- Wish
- U-Turn
- Ice Punch
- Thunder Wave

Wish support works great with Jirachi. Wish, then U-Turn to whoever needs to HP recovery. Can take many hits because of steel typing. It can even survive more that one hit on some Fire and Ground moves. The only move that it has been OHKO'd by is Overheat and Fire Blast.

flygon.png

Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Levitate
Adamant
252 Atk | 4 Sp. Def | 252 Spd
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- U-Turn
- Stone Edge

Flygon's speed is great with Choice Scarf. It allows a quick U-Turn for a quick and powerful hit. Then when something that is weak to the other moves is in, you can use it for that too. Outrage is like a trump card. I was once down 4-1 with Flygon as my last and I won using Outrage.

212_scizor_1_m.png

Scizor @ Choice Band
Technician
Adamant
248 HP | 252 Atk | 8 Spd
- U-Turn
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- Superpower

Amazing attack is really all I can say. Max attack IV's with Choice Band is pretty awesome. The only problem is it's terrible speed. That destroys Scizor when the opposition sends out a fire type to counter it. I have to let it faint, or switch out, but I can never U-Turn out.

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Pressure
Bold
248 HP / 228 Def / 32 Spe
- Roost
- Thunderbolt
- Toxic
- Heat Wave

A great standard wall. Can usually take 3 to 4 good x1 damage hits and 2 super effective hits. Thunderbolt causes tons of damage to pokemon not even weak to it and always OHKO's pokemon weak to it. No one expects Heat Wave. Some opponents send out an ice type to counter Zapdos and get hit by Heat Wave.

Please give me any suggestions you have, thanks.

Seeing as you only joined this month I'm assuming you're pretty new.
(I'm pretty new at RMT's too so forgive me abit)
This RMT isn't very in depth so it's not easy to see how yopu handle certain threats.

1) Your swampert seems pretty solid and strong defensively. Its well supported by your many grass resisting pokemon so no problem there.

2) Due to me personal annoyance with inaccurate attacks (and the lack of priority moves in your team) I'd suggest mach punch over Stone Edge especially as you have a defensive Zapdos and scarfedGon that can handle gyarados/salamence which aren't even OHKO'd after SR damage (if they switch in)

3) Jirachi's move pool seems weird. With the Twave you should be using Ironhead (which gives a 60% chance of flinch) rather than ice punch (which i assume is for ground types which would still have the advantage). Take Off Ice Punch and Put On Iron Head definitely.

4) I have no problem with your flygon practically. But the Stone edge again seems misplaced being weaker than outrage (barely stronger if Supereffective) and innaccurate. a more suitable move would be flamethrower/fireblast as it adds an extra option for steel types that resist outrage.

5) CB Scizor should Definitely have Bullet Punch and technician (the ability) also I'd suggest pursuit over night slash as it prevents the psychic/ghosts escaping and with technician it's almost as strong as night slash if they stay (going from base power 40 to base power of 60 compared to night slashes 70). The bullet punch is great for late sweeps and revenge kills. + it solves the problem of terrible speed.

6) Nice set.
btw heat wave isn't as rare as you think and a few may see it coming. But i like the addition of toxic as heat wae handles the steels (except hetaran)

All in all it's a decent team that can be made better with some tweaks.
There aren't any Major weaknesses in your team as long as you don't let swampert faint too soon you should be fine (especialy with the ScarfGon to revenge kill/late sweep.

I may take this team for a test spin and come back to you with more advice.

No.
Scizor needs Bullet punch.
Pursuit stops non HP fire Gengar and Starmie.

Thank you for the advice. Yes, I EV'd trained a new Scizor and I'm going to edit my first post with it. I got really lucky with the IVs, it has 31 in attack, and 30 in HP so it's attack is max, and HP is one off from max.

Yes I trained a new one. Going to edit the first post in a second. I got lucky. It has 31 IV's in Atk and 30 in HP :D

Hi, miamiheatballa3.

First of all, as the above poster said change your Scizor's set. Bullet Punch is the main reason you'd use Scizor in the first place. Change the ability to Technician and replace Iron Head with Bullet Punch. Without Bullet Punch you lack a decent answer to Salamence and other fast threats such as Gengar, sub variants in particular. Also, run Pursuit > Night Slash. While Night Slash does hit things like Rotom-A harder, being able to trap them is much better as Dark doesn't have spectacular coverage in OU. Another simple moveset change, would be to put Iron Head > Ice Punch on Jirachi. The reason being that Iron Head + Paralysis only gives your opponent around a 30% chance of attacking each turn. Also, keep Stone Edge on Flygon as it gives you a way to revenge DD Gyarados who can run through this team with ease after setting up on Scizor or Flygon.

Now that that's out of the way, this team struggles with quite a few threats. Lucario once it gets a SD under its belt can run right through you, your only check being Zapdos, who can be KOd after rocks and is slower. I'm gonna recommend you replace your Zapdos with a Choice Scarf Rotom-H. Aside from checking Lucario, it gives you a much needed answer to LO Starmie and Trick will help against stall teams as well as Crocune and CurseLax.

Rotom-H @ Choice Scarf
Timid | 232 HP / 252 Speed / 24 SAtk
Thunderbolt / Shadow Ball / Overheat / Trick

The EV Spread KOs the things you need to(Gengar, Starmie, Lucario), while allowing you to retain some of the bulk Zapdos provided. This allows you to take hits from the likes of SD Scizor and Agiligross. Now, if you make this change you will be left with 3 choice users, which isn't always a bad thing but in this case I think it's overkill. Since I removed Zapdos, you're gonna have trouble comin' in on Scizor who can now U-turn all over your team. I'm gonna recommend standard Bulky Gyarados, who besides helping with the Gliscor and Scizor problem has excellent synergy with Physical MixApe as they remove eachothers counters. It also gives a nice water resist which you lack making it hard to deal with Suicune and the like.

Now one weakness I haven't covered is Offensive Cune. Offensive Suicune can easily 6-0 this team after setting up on one of your choice Pokemon or by forcing Infernape out. A simple change of the EVs on your Jirachi would suffice as a check here. Change Jirachi's spread to 252 HP / 220 SDef / 36 Spe with a careful Nature. This allows you to not be 2HKOd by +1 Cune while you paralyze it making dealing with it a much easier task. This also helps against Gengar, who once behind a sub can do a good amount of damage to your team.

That's all I have to had, consider my changes and good luck!

Thanks I'll try this.
