OU RMT

Hey, so this is my first OU team and it's been doing pretty well on shoddy, but it would be interesting to see what all you guys think and to see if any changes could be made to make it work better :)

-The Lead-

gliscor.png

Gliscor@Leftovers
Ability:Sand Veil
Nature:Impish
EVs:252HP/40DEF/216SPE

Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Taunt
Roost

I love this lead, SR first turn then switch to a counter or stay in and fight. Can deal out decent damage while staying in for ages, especially with Roost. Sand Veil is to take advantage of opposing Tyranitars' Sand Stream. Especially helpful if they think they can beat me with Aqua Tail. I'm a bit worried about only having 1 attack, especially one that doesn't affect fliers or levitators.

-Physical Sweepers-

gyarados.png

Gyarados@Leftovers
Ability:Intimidate
Nature:Adamant
EVs:4HP/252ATK/252SPE

Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Earthquake
Stone Edge

DD Gyarados :) Has run away and swept a whole team several times already, a lot better than expected. Can switch in to a lot of OU and intimidate them and DD on the switch. If they stay in to attack i can either DD again or try to start the sweep, depending on the amount of damage they can do. All attacks are very powerful and provide good coverage.

scizor.png

Scizor@Choice Band
Ability:Technician
Nature:Adamant
EVs:248HP/252ATK/8SPE

U-Turn
Bullet Punch
Superpower
Pursuit

After a lot of advice, Choice Band Scizor came out as the best option for my team, U-Turn helps me scout counters, Bullet Punch for priority and power, Superpower for coverage and because it is so much more powerful than brick break and Pursuit to hit things that like to switch out from Scizor.

-Special Sweepers-

heatran.png

Heatran@Choice Scarf
Ability:Flash Fire
Nature:Naive
EVs:4ATK/252SPA/252SPE

Fire Blast
Earth Power
Hidden Power [Ice]
Explosion

Ultimate revenge killer and compliments Scizor very well. Outruns anything that isn't scarfed (except Ninjask) and deals huge amounts of damage. Fire Blast for raw power, Earth Power for coverage, HP Ice for dragons who resist Fire Blast and either Levitate or Fly to avoid Earth Power. Explosion to go out with a bang, with the leftover 4 EVs going into attack to make it a tiny bit more powerful.

latias.png

Latias@Leftovers
Ability:Levitate
Nature:Timid
EVs:4HP/252SPA/252SPE

Calm Mind
Dragon Pulse
Surf
Recover

I originally had a CM Cresselia here but I thought that using Latias would be a bit more of an offensive threat, while still withstanding an awful lot of special hits. Dragon Pulse and Surf give great coverage, and have swept many a team before now, given the chance to set up. Recover helps me to get back any HP while CMing, and gives me the opportunity to get some more off. Wondering if something like Grass Knot would be more useful here?

-Choice Scarf Tricker/Special Sweeper-

rotomheat.png

Rotom-H@Choice Scarf
Ability:Levitate
Nature:Timid
EVs:252SPA/4DEF/252SPE

Thunderbolt
Shadow Ball
Will-o-Wisp
Trick

Choice Scarf Rotom was needed to deal with DD Gyarados and, to an extent, Salamence. Can outspeed a +1 Gyarados and OHKO with Thunderbolt. Trick is to mess around with other people's tactics and Will-o-Wisp for if i need to cripple any incoming physical sweepers.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Solid team, but I there are two minor changes I would make. The first is putting Taunt over Aerial Ace on Gliscor, especially since it's your lead. This will help you stop slower leads from getting up Stealth Rock, and can also help later on in matches against Stall teams by disabling their healing moves. The other change would be Thunderbolt over Discharge. If you discharge a switch-in that's going to Pursuit you, you're out of luck. And to be honest, you don't really need the paralysis support, your team is fast as it is.

I also see a slight Gyarados Issue, I'm not sure how many hits your Rotom can take. If Gyarados is a problem, you could always try scarfing your Rotom, and switching your Heatran to say, a Substitute version. But if you're not having any issue with it, then don't change it.

Good luck!

Your a bit mixape weak. he kills gliscor with hp ice and can survive scizor's bullet punch and hit back with fire blast.

@Huntofthelion - i'm definitely changing to thunderbolt and taunt, i read this just after having an epic stall battle vs a skarmory where taunt would have helped me win much quicker, and you're right about the paralysis, thanks.

Gyarados and mixape haven't given me many problems so far, but if they do i'll see what i can do :)

Problems:

DD Salamence / Gyarados

How to fix:

I'm going straight to the point here. If Gyradados finds an opening on Heatran or even Scizor, your doomed the entire match trying to resist its hits. The same goes for Salamence, but too an lower degree because of the common Outrage versions, but that doesn't stop Salamence from wielding Dragon Claw. Now to fix Gyarados, I'd probably just go for Choice Scarf on Rotom.

Rotom-L
@ Choice Scarf
Timid Nature (Spe+ / Atk-)
252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe

- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Will-O-Wisp
- Trick

A slight variation of your set but with Choice Scarf slapped to it. Since Lucario and Scizor aren't really main concerns right now, you'd probably want Will-O-Wisp to weaken Tyranitar switch ins. Thunderbolt + timid nature will outpace +2 Bulky Gyarados and +1 normal Gyarados so it prevents it from sweeping your team. Shadow Ball is for coverage here, not much to say, except it allows you to hit Latias switch-ins prediciting a Overheat / Thunderbolt / Trick (common moves used from Rotom).

As for Salamence, I think slapping choice band on it would really do the trick. When SR piles up and you intimidate switch to Gyarados to take something like Fire blast, you can switch back in and KO it with bullet Punch boosted. U-turn is the best move though, scouting for Scizors coutners early in the match. Overall gl on this.

I think it is a good idea to use Choice Scarf on Rotom, thanks :)
& did you mean Choice Band on Scizor? If so, i'll try that out too, although I think having 3 choiced pokemon will annoy me a fair amount.
Thanks for your advice :)

Ok. I do my RMT reviews Pokemon by Pokemon. Let's start with your lead since it really needs some help.

Gliscor @ Leftovers
Impish Nature
EVs: 52 HP / 240 ATK / 216 SPE
Ability:Sand Veil

Stealth Rock
Earthquake
ThunderFang
IceFang

Let's get started. My definition of a lead is getting hits out there and knocking out the opponent's lead or anti-lead, and maybe a Pokemon or two after that. :) Your problem was that you had no attacks accept Earthquake. If an anti-lead like Gyarados appeared, you'd you screwed. Almost the same deal with Starmie, only it CAN be hit by Earthquake. So, I'd suggest ThunderFang. Every once and a while you'll be Roserade as a lead, although it's pretty rare. Other people will use Gliscor and other Pokemon like that too, so Ice Fang is a nice addition, especially if you come upon a Sandstorm team through dumb luck. And to top it all off, I adjusted your EVs to match your move set. You have a physical set, so you need lotsa ATK EVs to ensure a super-effective OHKO.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gyarados looks awesome, and nothing else is needed there! Good job!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ah, Scizor. A great Pokemon indeed. Since I really don't know my way around Scizor very well (I'm not perfect. No one is), I am going to let someone else comment on Scizor.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heatran @ Charcoal
Naive Nature
EVs: 4 DEF / 252 SpA / 252 SPE
Ability: Flash Fire

Flamethrower
Earth Power
HP Ice
Explosion

Sweepers can work wonders, but the Choice Items really limit them, especially when an opponent switches Pokemon on you. So, I replaced the Choice item you had with some Charcoal. And to guarantee a hit, I threw in Flamethrower as well, and when paired with Charcoal, it pretty much does as much damage as Fire Blast would. So, you get accessability, accuracy, and power, all without really changing anything!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your Rotom-H is good looking and looks pretty much like mine! Cool beans!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The last part of my RMT review is your Latias. I'm not goin to post all the info, but merely ask a question. Why is Surf in there? What Pokemon are you trying to hit with that move? Personally, I would go with Psychic to get STAB or go with Fire Punch or Brick Break to cover you Ice- and Dark-type weaknesses.

I hope you find this helpful!
