OU Stallish Team Thing...>.> <.<

HeartlessAngel bringing yet another team to everyone (Which, like most of my teams, will probably get ignored, but hey, might as well try). This is....well its an interesting team brought together by the want of trying a couple of Pokemon, and it resulted in this. I think it can be classified as a Stall Team of sorts, but I'm not really sure. Well, without further Ado, I bring you...this!

Dusclops (M) @ Eviolite
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Impish Nature
- Night Shade
- Infestation
- Toxic
- Rest

Dusclops is an awesome physical wall that can really screw with the opponent in a few ways. First, Evolite raises Dusclops Defense and Special Defense since it can still evolve, raises its already decent bulk. Make EV investments in HP and Defense ensures that Dusclops will take most unboosted attacks with ease. Night Shade is Dusclops' STAB move, providing decent damage on opposing Pokemon. Infestation is meant to trap any Pokemon I wish to trap and whittle away. Toxic pairs extremely well with Infestation, adding more and more damage to the Infestation. As Toxic racks up, it opponent is unable to get away due to Infestation trapping them in, slowly destroying their HP while Dusclops takes hits. Rest is Dusclops source of recovery as the opponent is forced to watch in horror as their Pokemon falls.

Conkeldurr (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Mach Punch
- Drain Punch
- Poison Jab

Assault Vest Conkeldurr is another set I've wanted to try out. Giving Conkeldurr some great special bulk, allowing it to hit really hard while taking hits. Knock Off is great against Psychic-types, as well as any Pokemon that rely on items. Mach Punch provides both STAB and priority, while Drain Punch allows for Recovery. Poison Jab is great because it allows Conkeldurr to hit Fairy-types hard. The Guts ability gives Conkeldurr a boost if it is burnt or what not. The EV spread gives Conkeldurr power and bulk.

800px-Latios_anime.png

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Surf
- Roost

Latios acts as a Special Sweeper for the team. Life Orb giving it tremendous power without locking it into a single attack like Specs. Max EVs in Special Attack and Speed make Latios hard to catch and survive an attack from, as long as you don't resist it. Draco Meteor is the most obvious move here, being legendary on Latios. Psyshock is the secondary STAB here, destroying Special Walls looking to block Latios. Surf provides Decent coverage, while Roost is used as Recovery, which is, I find, what gives this set, a slight edge to the Choice Specs set.

Sableye (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Def
Careful Nature
- Taunt
- Knock Off
- Recover
- Will-O-Wisp

Sableye is another Pokemon meant to screw with the opponent. Prankster gives all but one of Sableye's moves priority. Taunt stops Hazard Setters, Baton passers, and others like that, in their tracks. Will-O-Wisp cripples physical Pokemon, Recover keeps Sableye healthy, while Knock Off is Sableye's means of dealing direct damage. Investments in HP and Special Defense gives Sableye Special Bulk, allowing it do be, in a way, a Special mirror of Dusclops.

forretress.jpg

Forretress (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Volt Switch

Forretress. Everyone's favorite Rapid Spinner and Hazard setter. Not really much to say about this one, as it is pretty standered. EV sets make it Physically Defensive, and combined with Sturdy, gives Forretress a great chance to Spin away any Hazards on my field, and set up my own. I find Stealth Rocks over Spikes is great on Forretress, and threats like Talonflame an Charizard lose a whopping half their heath upon switch in. Gyro Ball is a surprisingly effective Anti-Fairy tool on Forretress, while Volt Switch gives Forretress switch out capabilities.

Pinsir (M) @ Pinsirite
Ability: Moxie
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Quick Attack
- Return
- Earthquake
- X-Scissor

And last, but not least, is the feared Mega Pinsir. With Max Attack and Speed Investments, this is one bug you do not want to underestimate. Aerielate Quick Attack and Return is Devastating, Earthquake allows Pinsir to hit Pokemon like Heatran and Excadrill, and X-Scissor is a great STAB move to use against Dark and Psychic types. Pinsir is meant to be a late game sweeper, picking up the weakened Pokemon left behind by my pranksters and trouble makers.

I feel that Talonflame can do lots of damage to this team, and it appears a lot in OU. Nothing on the team can safely wall the it. Sableye's Will-O-Wisp is ineffective. Pinsir gets outsped in terms of priority. Forretress can be killed before setting up SR. We all know how fighting types fare against Brave Bird, Conkeldurr can probably tank a Brave Bird, but has no moves to kill the Fiery Menace. Whenever you bring out your Dusclops, your opponent can easily switch to something else.

Another thing, I don't believe that Night Shade gets any STAB as it set at fixed damage, however it is a great move to use on Dusclops.

So what can I bring in to take care of Talonflame? I know Rotom-W is a great counter, but what could be taken out for it?

From my POV, one of the best counters for Talonflame is Heatran. I would say you could replace Forrtress. Besides resisting Talonflame and killing fairies with Flash Cannon, it can also set up SR, phase with Roar, and use Protect. However in exchange, you would lose a valuable Rapid Spinner. So this is just something that you can consider.

What I could do, in place of Forretress, is use Heatran as you said, and instead of Roost, use Defog on Latios (Can Latios learn Defog? I'm not sure).

Yeah, Latios can learn defog. In fact, his offensive set generally has it. You're actually running a "Balanced" team (3 defensive, 3 offensive) and realistically I'm best at helping with the defensive side. Heatran is a good addition as it will also help vs Aegislash (Heatran needs max Spdef and still takes Talonflame with ease). Latios running defog over surf will help.

A point of question, to me, is your use of two ghosts and two dark weaks on your team... Isn't sableye a bit of an inbalance? It has a fast willowisp, which can be crucial for disabling Pinsir-mega, but something tells me Dusclops doesn't do bad vs Pinsir-mega. Removing Dusclop's toxic and adding willowisp instead, as well as replacing out sableye for a different defensive pokemon (realistically, checking +2 bisharp will be nice once you add on defog).

When making a stall-team, you need to touch base on both ends of the spectrum. You have Dusclops as your physical wall, and having Will-O-Wisp on in can further shut down physical sweepers. Now all you need is a SDef wall to balance out your team. Heatran can run this set, but in my opinion can function as a mixed wall also in charge of setting up hazards.

This is a great suggestion. So take out Sableye. What do you recommend I put in place of it?
