OU Sun Blazers team

hey guys this is my first post so sorry if something is incorrect. Anyway I had battled online up until platinum had started then the dreamworld abilities had kicked in and before I realized the weather teams had dominated the OU tier and my way of battling was not working compared to these teams. Now with B/W2 coming out soon I have decided to get back into it but first I am testing some teams and this is one if them. Anyway back to the team btw YES this is a sun team after I figure this out I will make a rain, sandstorm and a hail team :naughty:

(Firefox) NineTales@Leftovers
Trait: Drought(DUH!?)
Modest Nature | 136 HP / 252 SpA / 120 Spe
Sunny Day
Fire Blast
SolarBeam
toxicWeather introducer as most people do. Have some EVS invested in Hp to survive a few moves and be able to set up sun for the rest of the team. Sunny day is there for when other weather pokemon try to set up on ninetales that way I can win the war with other weather introducers

149.png

(Drago) Dragonite@Lum Berry
Trait: Muiltscale
Adamant Nature
EVS: 252ATT, 252 speed, 4 Spd
Dragon dance
Outrage
Fire Punch
Extremespeed
I've had some luck using this guy as the lead using him to set up dragon dance and trying to sweep as many pokemon as I can

205.png

(Fort Knox) Forrestress@Leftovers
EVS: 4 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD 0IVs
Relaxed nature
~Stealth Rock
~Rapid Spin
~Gyro Ball
~Pain Split

A new addition to the team. Using this to handle to DDragons that I may come across in the OU metagame and to spin the entry hazards that I may come across in the game

143.png

(Fatty) Snorlax@Choice Band
Trait: Thick Fat
Adamant Nature
EVS: 252 Hp, 252 att, 4 def
Return
Pursuit
Earthquake
Fire punch
I use Snorlax as a duel role he is a Special Defense wall which can handle the rain teams and politoad especially as well as a very good physical attacker which can put a dent in any team with choice band

577.png

(Princess) Lilligant@lum berry
Trait: Chlorophyll
Modest Nature
EVS: 72 Def/252Satt/184speed
Quiver Dance
Giga Drain
Hiddern Power (Ice)
Sleep Powder

I use Her as a last resort or to put pokemon to sleep I have hidden power rock and leaf storm to hand both tyrantiar and politoad
428.png

(Slugger)Gastrodon@leftovers
Sassy nature:Storm drain
EVS: 252HP/ 252 SDef/ 4 satt
Earth Power
Ice Beam
Toxic
Recover

OK so I still noticed that I was having trouble with Heatran, and Torontos-T so this is where this guy comes in I use him to wall them both and strike back with earth power or ice beam to take them out also with the storm drain ability I can take water attacks no problem while also increasing his special attack as well. Also he is 4x resistant to fire attacks which can help my pokemon that are weak to fire attacks

I know this is my first post ever so please don't flame me too much I don't seem to be having much luck with this team either its me or the pokemon and thats why i'm here trying to figure it out any help will be appreciated so thanks for the help in advance and feel free to rate/help/ recommend subs

Hey,

Cool team! One thing that I'm noticing is a glaring weakness to DDancers and just Dragon types in general. You don't have a single resist, yet you have one weakness- that's not a good thing ina meta where almost every team has a Dragon type. To help you handle them, I suggest you use Pain Split Forretress over Donphan.

Forretress @ Leftovers
4 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Relaxed nature
~Stealth Rock
~Rapid Spin
~Gyro Ball
~Pain Split

Forretress covers a lot of what Donphan did, and much more. It can tank physical hits, set hazards, amd spin. However, Forretress has something Donphan doesn't- a steel typing. That will allow you to hard wall a lot of choiced pokemon and set up dragons alike- and then nail them with Gyro Ball, which hits harder and harder after each Dragon Dance. With Pain Split, you can have pretty reliable Recovery as well as a secondary way to hit your opponent.

One thing that donphan did have, however, was priority. To make up for it's loss, I suggest you give Dragonite Extreme Speed instead of Earthquake. You will only miss out on hitting Heatran, which Snorlax walls all day. Extremespeed hits Tornadus-T, Lati@s, and Haxorus just as hard or even harder than Donphan's Ice Shard. It's faster, too.

Now, you have quite a few weird moves and items here. I suggest you give Ninetales Leftovers instead of Air Balloon- that will grant you steady recovery and allow Ninetales to switch in more often. Energy Ball is probably also a better idea over Toxic- having dual status isn't really as useful as the ability to hit Politoed and Tyranitar quite hard.

Healing Wish isn't the best idea on Lilligant- I suggest you use Sunny Day instead. It allows you to put your Sun back up even if Ninetales goes down. Healing Wish is a cool idea but putting Sun up is probably a better idea. Hidden Power Rock also seems out of place here- I'd suggest you use Hidden Power Fire. It hits Steel types hard, and rounds off coverage pretty well in the Sun. Leaf Storm by itself is enough to hit Toed and Tyranitar.

Finally, Volcorona would definitely do well with Hidden Power Rock instead of Electric. You can still hit ScarfGyara, and you can hit Heatran neutrally. Hitting Salamence and Dragonite is a cool bonus too.

Nice team, hope I helped!

Hey,

You have a nice sun team, and it seems very solid, but it has 1 big flaw - it has a lot of troubles at winning the weather war. Your team simply doesn't have any way of taking down Politoed, Hippowdon or Tyranitar, which can simply remove your weather without any trouble during all the battle, or worse, they can Pursuit your Ninetales (in Tyranitar's case) or wear you down with hazards. The best way of fixing this problem would be using a different set on Ninetales. I'm suggesting a Sunny Day set, as it has the ability to lure opposing weather inducers, while being able to outright kill them or force them to switch, as sun will be up. Here's the set:

Ninetales@Leftovers | Drought
Modest Nature | 136 HP / 252 SpA / 120 Spe
Sunny Day / Fire Blast / SolarBeam / Sunny Day

On another note, you should try Hidden Power Ice on Lilligant, as it will let you revenge kill Dragon-type pokemon such as Salamence or Dragonite, which give a lot of problems to your team.

Hope I helped!

Nice Team but you have a huge weakness to being stalled out by Heatran - Jelicent defensive core.Ninetales HP fighting isnt going to do alot to specially defensive heatran while it can toxic stall you with combination with jelicent avoiding HP fighting and move back to heatran when you go for your grass move.
Dragonite doesnt have much for heatran either and can be stalled out as well.
Forretress isnt a fan of heatran.
Liligant can put heatran to sleep but can do very little in return.(Although liligant can set up on heatran when it is asleep but you dont want to miss sleep powder and take a sun boosted lave plume)
Your snorlax can deal with heatran but not with jelicent
Volcarona cant deal with taunt jelicent and stealth rock heatran

Good luck

I came in here to suggest this Ninetales set if it didn't have Sunny Day. You also have Sunny Day twice there, Destiny. As a Fourth Move I recommend Toxic, since Special Attackers are common in this Rain metagame.

An easy way to deal with Politoed hippowdon tyranitar is running a Virizion in your team.

Here is a set you might want to try:

Virizion @ Leftovers Trait: Justified
EVs: 104 Atk / 152 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Close Combat
- Giga Drain
- Work Up
- Hidden Power [Ice]

I don't know if this is a standard set but try it.
Its a solid counter to all three and after a work up can do a bit of sweeping.

Hello, and welcome to Smogon!

First off I can recognize that there is something seriously wrong with your Forretress set EV wise. I really suggest running 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef Relaxed | 0 Speed IV to handle Dragons much better along with stuff like Acrobatics Gliscor. I also suggest trying a new Lilligant spread with the EVs of 72 Def / 252 SAtk / 184 Spe @ Lum Berry with Quiver Dance over Sunny Day and Giga Drain over Leaf Storm. This allows you to survive all Mamoswine Ice Shards, while being able to pull off a successful sweep.

Good luck!
