This is my first attempt at making a team in 2 years. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Jirachi @Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EV’s: 252 Atk/252 Spe/6 HP
Nature: Jolly (+Spe,-SpA)
-Stealth Rock
-Iron Head
-U-Turn
-Ice Punch
Threats: In terms of common leads, Infernape and Heatran are a huge threat as they resist everything on this set.
Purpose to Team: Jirachi’s main purpose is to set up stealth rock to make things easier for some of my offensive oriented pokemon. Iron head is there as Jirachi’s best physical STAB option. U-turn is there as an attack-and-run option when I run into something I don’t like. I debated between Ice Punch and Thunder Punch for the last slot. Although Thunder Punch would give me a good way to deal with Gyarados, I wanted the extra support against the likes of Salamence and Dragonite that was provided by Ice Punch.
Gengar @Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EV’s: 252 SpA/252 Spe/6 Def
Nature: Modest (+SpA,-Atk)
-Shadow Ball
-Thunder Bolt
-Energy Ball
-Trick
Threats: Tyranitar, Weavile
Purpose to Team: His three main purposes are: blocking rapid spin, crippling the likes of Blissey, Bronzong, Snorlax and the like by tricking a choice scarf onto them, and dealing a ton of damage. With immunities to ground, fighting, and normal attacks, Gengar should see plenty of opportunities to switch in. Shadow Ball for STAB, Thunder Bolt for hitting pesky water types, especially Gyarados. I put Energy Ball in here instead of the common Focus Blast mainly to deal with Swampert, which gives my team some trouble. Moreover, Focus Blast’s poor accuracy is a little off putting. A miss pretty much means bye-bye Gengar, so I went with a more reliable attack.
Zapdos @Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EV’s: 248 HP/228 Def/32 Spe
Nature: Bold (+Def,-Atk)
-Thunder Bolt
-Heat Wave
-Roost
-Roar
Threats: Swampert is the biggest threat here, as I’ve opted to go with Heat Wave over HP Grass. Zapdos isn’t a fan of special walls like Blissey and Snorlax, but Gengar is there to take care of them.
Purpose to Team: Zapdos functions as my tank. It is extremely beneficial because it can roar away those pokemon who are under the influence of any stat boosts. Thunder Bolt for STAB. Heat Wave to deal with the ever common Scizor and as a powerful attack in general. Roost for recovery.
Vaporeon @Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EV’s: 252 HP/188 Def/68 Spe
Nature: Bold (+Def,-Atk)
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Protect
-Wish
Threats: Tentacruel is a huge counter that laughs at everything Vaporeon can throw at it, Celebi can also switch in on the surf and threaten Vaporeon with a STAB grass attack but has to be careful of ice beam.
Purpose to Team: Vaporeon is there to provide much needed wish support to my team. Surf for STAB and Ice Beam for good coverage.
Tyranitar @Choice Band
Ability: Sandstream
EV’s: 252 Atk/160 HP/96 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk,-Spe)
-Stone Edge
-Crunch
-Earthquake
-Aqua Tail
Threats: Bronzong laughs at all these attacks, Swampert can switch in fairly easily and cause some damage, Breloom resists most of the set but is rather frail defensively anyway...
Purpose to Team: Hit fast, hit hard, and pave the way for Lucario to sweep by knocking out most of his counters.
Lucario @Choice Specs
Ability: Inner Focus
EV’s: 252 SpA/252 Spe/6 HP
Nature: Modest
-Aura Sphere
-Shadow Ball
-Vacuum Wave
-HP Grass
Threats: Blissey and Snorlax (to a lesser extent) can wall this set, Gyarados can switch in on an Aura Sphere and cause some damage. Tyranitar's job, however, is to eliminate these threats.
Purpose to Team: This is my special sweeper. He works really well in conjuction with Tyranitar. Aura Sphere for reliable STAB. Aura Sphere for a reliable STAB move that never misses. Shadow Ball works well with Aura Sphere to provide an unresisted move pool. Vacuum Wave for priority. My team really needed some Swampert support, so I opted for HP Grass instead of HP Ice.
