OU T-Wave Offense Team

Introduction:

Hello Smogonites, this evening i am posting my 4th ever RMT, and im quite excited to see all of your insightful help and critque! Today i will be posting a Offense team based around T-Wave (thunder wave), so sit down and enjoy, shall we take a look?

Team at a Glance:

Now that you've seen my team, let's dive into the juicy details.

In Depth:
celebi.png

Celebi @ Occa Berry
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 64 HP/60 Def/216 Spd/168 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Heal Bell
- Thunder Wave
- Leaf Storm
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before i reason why Celebi is my lead, I bet you're wondering what my EV's are for. First of all, 216 Speed EV's allow me to outspeed all Positive Natured 95 Base speed pokemon (Non-Scarfed). Second of all i will survive 100% of the time against a fakeout/ice punch or night slash weavile, as well as 2 ice shards from a mammoswine.
OK, now here's why I chose Celebi. First of all, I needed a grass pokemon to resist electric attacks, Celebi, which is honestly the only decent grass pokemon in my eyes (don't comment on that) made a perfect fit, not only can he SR it up, he has amazing base stats and can T-Wave! Last but not least he demolishes bulky waters with a stab Leaf Storm, then heal bell to cure my team of status.

jirachi.png

Jirachi (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 240 HP/160 Def/ 76Sp.D/32Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -Sp.Atk)
- Wish
- U-Turn/Ice Punch?
- Iron Head
- Body Slam
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to the help from my fellow smogonites, i replaced my togekiss with Jirachi, for another dragon counter, with more resistances. Basically, I'll Body Slam counters and ground pokemon (Yipee!), than Iron Head for Flinch Hax, then wish'n'run'. I don't know wheteher to kill dragons or scout tho, i would like ice punch...

gyarados.png

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 88 HP/252 Atk/168 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Return
- Waterfall
- Substitute
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By far my FAVORITE pokemon throughout all 4 generations. Not only does he have stelllar attack stat, he also has good health and Sp.D. My set allows him to outspeed positive base 130 speed pokemon (jolteon) with one DD. This custom set is almost unstoppable, although, theres 3 pokemon who just **** up my Gyarados. Zapdos, Skarmory, and Empoleon. Zapdos has high defense and I 3 hit kill it with 2 DDs, and it kills me. Skarmory WW's me away, and Empoleon is resistant to Waterfall and Return. Gyarados has saved me arse many times before, and is included in most of my OU teams. On top of all of that though, substitute eases prediction and blocks status/leech seed!

machamp.png

Machamp (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Stone Edge
- Dynamicpunch
- Payback
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is where T-Wave shines. With thunder wave support, Machamp goes first against many counters, and pokemon that would usually just OHKO him. ( including Salamence, Dragonite, Latias, etc.) and allows him to be bulky and powerful at the same time. In the beginning, my team was based around Machamp, and he is very devastating., especially with a 100% accuracy Dynamic Punch and Stone Edge.

jolteon.png

Jolteon (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Shadow Ball
- Charge Beam
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a feva', and the only prescription is more electric immunitys...(SNL Quote) Jolteon not only provides my team an electric immunity ( which is very needed) but also an un expected boosting sweeper, which is another thing my team needed. Once i get 1 or 2 SP.Atk boosts, unless they have proority or scarfed EQ, i win :).Also, on top of all that, with the help of charge beam (lucky with the proc of the Sp.Atk,) i can beat BLissey!Theres not much left to say expect Jolteon>Life...

gallade.png

Gallade (F) @ Leftovers/Lifeorb?
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 80 Hp/252 Atk/176 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -Sp.A)
- Close Combat
- Thunder Wave
- Night Slash
- Shadow Sneak
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My newest member of the team, Gallade, is a replacement for Latias. My team lacked 1 thing now, Priority. Not only did i want a pokemon with a reliable priority, but i wanted to keep the T-Waver. After much Trial and Error, Gallade was perfect. He is a second check to BLissey (thank god) and my anti CBTar :). He can revenge kill low HP pokemon, kill Dark, Normal/Rock pokemon etc... Although, im deciding on the power of life orb or reliability of leftovers, i do have wish support, and i need another power sweeper... i need help :). Also, his speed EV's allow him to dispose of Breloom with max speed.

Thank you for reading! Feel free to be harsh with critique, i just want a better team :) I hope you found my RMT worth the while.

Hello.

Interesting concept, though perhaps a couple of changes could help this team excel even more.

You can't switch in that easily to pokemon like Latias, Mixmence also proves to be quite a hassle with this team. Your only dragon resist here would be empoleon, something you'd preferably like to get a clean sweep late game as opposed to being one of your switch in pokemon to destructive attacks like such. Something you can consider as a result would be to use a Support Jirachi over Togekiss, which still provides flinch and wish, but has favorable resists, and eases up on that nasty electric resist you have going on here. If you were to run Body Slam, you'd even be able to paralyze pokemon you wouldn't be able to touch with thunderwave, namely Swampert, Gliscor, and Jolteon, making your life much easier.

For some more minor changes, you might want to run Ice Punch over Stone Edge on your Machamp, having Gliscor stop your sweep dead cold is much more annoying, pokemon like Gyarados will have a harder time dealing with Machamp with DynamicPunch alone, furthermore your team is more better suited to handle Gyarados than Gliscor. Next, try running Bounce over Return for a harder hit against pokemon like Celebi and Salamence, in which Gyara can kill off with rocks up. Additionally, it goes well with the overall premise of your team, which is paralysis.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Impish 252 hp / 80 def / 176 spe
Iron Head / Body Slam / Wish / U-turn

Jirachi has better synergy than togekiss with your team. Dragons can potentially come in on quite a bit of your team like it can with most, and Jirachi provides the solid backbone you need on your team. Jirachi will have an easier time passing to Gyarados with pokemon like Heatran switching in on it. U-turn eases the prediction you need during a wishpass, as you can pass to different parts of your team without having to predict what your opponent has in store for you. While I realize that you enjoy using Togekiss on your team, Jirachi can essentially do what you want Togekiss to do for the most part, but has more resistances, especially one to Stealth Rock, and provides arguably more of a backbone to your team, which is key.

Good luck.

Ill definetly try that jirachi, thx man. Exepct one thing-i lose encore.

Hi, just a quick thing, your team seems pretty solid, i was going to suggest Jirachi over Togekiss, but someone already did it seems.

My suggestion is to replace Empoleon. Empoleon needs proper team support to fit in, which you dont seem to be giving it. You say empoleon is your dragon resist and the like, but most mence's carry EQ to dispose of steels, and Empoleon with agility doesn't fit with your theme of paralyze everything in sight. I really couldn't suggest much as i dont know how you play this team, although a CB scizor or SD scizor could fit in nicely, providing its nice typing and free opportunities for gyarados to switch in and set up and a heatran's fire blast. You could also fit in Latias, over Empoleon, to get some nice resistances to electric, provide another thunderwave, or have a nice choice scarf revenge killer, or some raw power with choice specs. Sorry if this doesn't help, just my 2 cents.

payback with paralysis have only 50 base point, try to use bulk-up champ or restalker, is better. With serene grace you can paralyze gliscor and swampert, a pain for machamp's sweep. Anyway is a good team, but you can abuse more of the paralysis.

Well I think that your Jirachi set need Body Slam. The reason for this is to paralyse Ground types who are immune toThunder wave. Body Slam gives you a 60% chance to paralyse which is pretty nice.

Just a personal opinion, I just don't like Substitute on Gyarados, I can see how the set works and everything, it just seems that if SR is up losing 50% of your health in one turn (not including and damage he may take switching into attacks) just strikes me as off putting. But like I said its just my personally opinion so don't read too much into it.

Have a Nice Day!

Tesy, i likie my sub +3 atk, but i don;t know what could replace Payback, he can kill paralyzrd ghosts with ease. i wish he had like crunch =/.

Sorry for the double post but, choiced Tyranitar destroys my team...can anyone help?

You gotta have Taunt on Gyara.... nigh-indespensible move on him, IMO.... as far as your bad matchups go, it only helps solve Skarmory, but that's plenty reason to use it for me... Taunting Skarm's Ww to give you room for one more DD is definitely a worthy sacrifice in my mind. Although Sub IS pretty interesting.

LOL you hate it... this makes Banny laugh. But, if it works for you and you don't mind Skarmory being able to screw you, then by all means stick with it. You've got others to deal with Skarm then, right? ....right? (Hmm, I'm not so sure... looks like only Jolteon is a hard counter, really)

I wonder slightly how much that speed is helping on Celebi, considering that you can do little to Roserade. I think you might benefit from a celebi that is not trapped by Scizor so easily either. I would suggest HP fire or U-turn over Heal bell for this reason. If you really want to have a Heal Bell user, I would suggest taking celebi outside of the lead position in favour of Machamp, who makes a fantastic lead with bullet punch.

I would use Thunder Wave on Gyarados over substitute. Gyarados is a fantastic lure for paralysis-vulnerable opponents like Scarf Latias, Scarf Rotom and Scarf Jirachi among other things. After eliminating what is often your counter in this way, you will often be able to sweep much more easily later.

With another Twave user, we can remove this use of Gallade to spread paralysis. It strikes me that once Paralysis has been spread, gallade could attempt a sweep with Swords Dance. The priority offered by Gallade is far too weak to be of much significance, with a lead Machamp's bullet punch actually stronger, so it is not helping much in this respect.

Note that a particularly annoying jirachi set has appeared recently that would fit wuite nicely onto your team. Look it up in C&C - substitute + thunder wave. Jolteon or Vaporeon could provide Wish support instead if you felt that necessary.

Edit - just realised someone above mentioned that this is too similar to Pride and DJX09's team, so maybe this isn't such a good idea!

Good luck.

The problem with t-wave teams, as that while it's good in theory to paralyse the whole opponents team, they will keep there revenge killers, and sweepers hidden, which are the ones you actually want to paralyse. Also once the opponent realises your spreading paralysis they will keep going back to the same paralysed pokemon, and there counter gets a free switch in.

Also your "latias" lol I would teach her sword dance, cus galade can make real use of the move. But I would say a Sword dance scizor can make use of paralysis more, as he is already slow, so can make great use of thunderwave support and is the most powerful user of priority in OU. Scizor also makes great use of the fact that rotom, heatran and gyrados often switch in early game and are quite likely to be paralised by lategame.

Lead Machamp:

Machamp @ lum berry
240hp 244atk 16spdef 8spe
Adamant, No guard
-Dynamicpunch
-Payback
-Ice punch
-Bullet punch

EVs guarantee surviving Naive Azelf's Psychic. A combination of the appropriate move and bullet punch should KO most sashed leads, whilst confusion plagues bulkier leads.

The speed is for other Machamp, though 12speed could be considered.
