Alright, I made this team like a week ago. It's pretty much just a team of my favorite Pokemon. I played with it outside of ladder with pretty good results. As soon as I went into ladder I lost to real OU teams. It was very sad. My old teams were pretty much just carbon copies of common top tier teams like Solum's Core and Prelude of Light. I don't really like to copy teams so I came up with my own. It's not the greatest team ever, and I would actually like to win with it. I've used some other clearly powerful teams like Sandstorm teams, and have gotten pretty decently ranked with them, but I wanna try something else. If you could help me improve this team, that would help a lot.
Overall team strategy:
Ibuki (Accelgor) (F) @ Focus Sash Trait: Sticky Hold
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Yawn
- Spikes
- Bug Buzz
- U-turn
My lead. Almost always puts up at least two layers of Spikes, which is good enough to help the rest of my team. Yawn is one of my favorite moves in this game. With Accelgor's speed and with the threat of Spikes, the opponent has to lose a Pokemon to sleep or keep getting shuffled around with Spikes down. The problem is that this is really her only job. Her special attack isn't that high, so she basically throws down Spikes, Yawns a couple people (if even that), then I'm down a Pokemon. She also can't switch into anything. Way too fragile, so U-Turn isn't that great either. Accelgor is also Stealth Rock weak, which is never good. I would like to keep her, but the flaws outweigh her strengths, sadly. Her Spikes make Latios and Cinccino extremely scary though.
Eternity (Latios) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
Generic sweeper. I'm thinking of changing his set to Specs for the raw power that this team desperately needs. Great for switching in on annoying Pokemon like Heatran and Rotom. Not really a lot to say about him.
Strawberri (Cinccino) (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Rock Blast
- Tail Slap
- Wake-Up Slap
One of my favorite Pokemon to use, and the Pokemon I want to make a team around. Extremely underrated in my opinion. The power of her Technician moves boosted by a Choice Band is really ridiculous. Unfortunately, she is extremely fragile. I don't even think fragile is a proper term to describe how hard it is to switch this Pokemon in on anything. Another problem is that she can't switch any moves, and Ferrothorn basically gets a free switch in. Rock Blast destroys Pokemon like Dragonite and Zapdos, and dents Pokemon like Heatran and Scizor. Sub-breaking Gengars is also good. Tail Slap does so much damage to things that don't resist it, and is too good to pass up. Unfortunately less than 100 accuracy is always a problem. Lots of steel types in this gen can also switch in on it. I make sure to take those out before sending her in. I'm thinking a Magnezone would be a good partner for her to trap Steel types. Wake Up Slap is for Tyranitar. If the opponent leads with a Tyranitar, I will usually send her in for a OHKO Wake Up Slap. I would rather not replace her.
Melodic (Milotic) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Marvel Scale
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Toxic
Bulky water type that I could honestly do better than. I chose it over Vaporeon because of the instant recovery and getting Marvel Scale procs with Jellicent and other bulky water types' Scalds. Most of my Pokemon are horrible to switch in though, so I didn't get Wish Vaporeon for that reason. It's a waste of a turn to Wish, switch something in, and watch it die and the Wish being wasted. Does a pretty good job checking heavy hitters like Garchomp and Excadrill if Marvel Scale is up.
Cybele (Celebi) @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 220 HP / 252 SAtk / 36 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Recover
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Another "sweeper". Unfortunately she is pretty slow to be called a real sweeper like Infernape or Gengar, and isn't bulky enough to be a bulky sweeper like Conkeldurr. It can do its job decently enough, but I could probably replace this and do better. I like the Nasty Plot set because of the power of Nasty Plot Giga Drain, and the amount of health I can heal back lets me not worry about Life Orb as much. This variation of Celebi cannot take many hits. If it's weak to something it's probably getting OHKO'd. Pursuit is annoying. Natural Cure lets me absorb some statuses too.
Myoxycota (Gliscor) (F) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Taunt
- Ice Fang
A fighting type counter because I desperately needed one before. Unfortunately if the fighting type has Ice Punch I am screwed. Everything packs an ice type move if it can just because of Gliscor, so that's a pretty big problem. This team is also pretty ice weak overall. I don't think this set is very good for this team. I could probably make it bulkier.
Well, that's the team. I'm open to all ratings and changes. I would like to keep Cinccino though. Thank you in advance.
Overall team strategy:
Usually, I just like to get Accelgor in and put some Spikes down. If they are a Pokemon I figure the opponent would like to use later, or if it's a really annoying Pokemon such as Rotom, I Yawn it. After Accelgor has done its job I just let it go down. There's nothing else it can hurt and if something is asleep, it has fulfilled its purpose. After that, I prefer to dent their team a bit with Latios or Celebi. Killing off steel types is top priority so Cinccino can get in and Tail Slap without having to worry. Getting in Gliscor and Milotic to absorb some damage or pass some status around is good too to help with the sweep. After Spikes are set up, Latios or Cinccino are usually what win me the match.
Some common things I need to look out for are Scarved Krokodile and other top threats like Gengar. This team is weak to ice type moves and powerful special sweepers.
