OU Team Gen5 Balanced

Hello Smogon,

Today I would like to introduce my new 5gen OU Wifi-Team.
This team has been proven to be pretty solid and generally I do not have any problems at all.
But I’m still willing getting some of your ideas and maybe you do have some nice ideas I could consider off.
If you have the time please let me know what you do think about my team and how you would play the one and other part.
This team seems to be a good balanced one for me. I have battled since Gen4 so I'm not the worst in competetive battling. I know how to play this team when it’s time to switch out and when I have to stay in even if the poke gets defeated just to prevend a setup. Here is the team, enjoy:

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
- HP Ice 70
- Earth Power

381.png

Latios @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Charge Beam
- Psyshock

Scizor @ Leftovers
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Bug Bite
- Sword Dance

Scizor is one of my favourite team members and will stay forever in my team because this set always has been proven to me to be the best one for my playstyle. Standard Choice Band Scizor sets are bad, because they are predictable, and are easy played around. They need then to switch out because they are trapped in a useless attack that allows me to set up. Also my Scizor wins every Scizor Scizor battle. Another Plus on him is that I like his natural bulk. Leftovers are used to keep him live and make him immortal.

Vapoeron @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Sdef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Wish
- Protect
- Toxic

Supports the complete team and itself with wish and can stall out opposing pokemon while their live get drained down by toxic the same time. This poke can be very anoying for the opponent as it can recover nearly dead pokemon on my team and save itself all the time. Scald is the Attack move on here that can burn if luckily (30% chance). This bulky water can take a hit easily because it then can heal itself with wish. If my opponent tries to set up on me I just toxic them and stall it out with protect and wish.

Celebi @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Giga Drain
- Earth Power
- Baton Pass

This special nasty plot Celebi is mainly used for the reason to have a solid fire, water, grass core. Celebi can deal especially late game with many pokemon I otherwise would have problems with. Celebi on his own is bulky enough to survive a hit so in round one I generally nearly always go for a nasty plot. The main attack is giga drain that got a damage boost in gen5 up to 75% that gets stab, and recovers HP together with the lefties. In the best case you just got an instant recovery from the attack you might have gotten in the round you have used nasty plot. Then the fun continuous and you can start sweeping with either Giga Drain or Earth Power. Earth Power hits a lot of pokemon for super effective damage such as Heatran.
Baton Pass is a move that no one is expecting and will be used when celebi gets walled or your opponent switches in a dragon type monster or a counter like scizor/tyranitar. Because Celebi is faster than those threats he can switch out safely without fearing attack such as pursuit.

Nice team. Aside from your slight Scizor weakness, it would do very well. That said, I do have a few suggestions.
1. Running full speed on Latios, I suggest either Lifeorb or Choice specs, as it will allow more damage to be done. You mentioned Blissey, whom can withstand a Timid Latios's Psyshock without Specs support.
2. Generally used as a wall, I suggest Vaporeon have a more defensive nature to suit the given Ev.'s. (Preferably Bold)
3. For Heatran, I suggest investing the extra 4 Ev.'s from Hp to Attack due to Explosion.

^Just a few suggestions. I look forward to hearing your feedback. :)

Hey, good team, but it needs a few adjustments.

Firstly, I think you should change Heatran back to a Timid nature with Earth Power. Explosion's nerf this gen reallllly sucks, and keeping the move just for Blissey is such a waste (It might even Protect, which would suck even more). Earth Power gives you a weapon against opposing Heatran, which is just as big a threat, and means you won't have to resort to exploding to just have a chance of taking it out. For enemy Blissey, you can just switch to Scizor anyway.

On Scizor, replace Superpower with Roost. This will give Scizor much better survivability, and allow it to set up much more easily. It also lets Scizor act as a more reliable switch-in to powerful attacks like Draco Meteor, which is good, because your other Steel-type, Heatran, isn't EVd bulkily. Losing Superpower means you don't hit Heatran, but half your team can take it on and win, so that isn't a problem. With other Steel-types, you can either hit them for neutral damage with Bug Bite (Jirachi, Ferrothorn), or just set up to +6 against them (Ferrothorn, Forretress).

Latios looks good, but to be honest I think Trick would be better in the place of Hidden Power Fire. Hidden Power Fire only hits Scizor and Ferrothorn, and you can cripple Ferrothorn with Trick, and handle Scizor with Heatran. It'll also let you cripple Blissey / other troublesome mons, which is helpful. On top of that, being free of a Choice Scarf due to Trick will allow you to pass it a Special Attack boost from Celebi, making Latios very dangerous.

Having Starmie as a Choice Scarfer is really redundant. For one, you already have a bulkier Choice Scarf user in Latios, and Starmie is more dangerous as a Life Orb Attacker, which you should definitely try out. (Also why I suggested Trick on Latios)

Starmie @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Recover / Rapid Spin

With the extra power, the freedom to switch attacks, and Recover, Life Orb Starmie is much more dangerous than choiced variants, especially when you've already got something acting as a revenge killer. Recover is cool with Natural Cure, because you won't lose against walls like Blissey, but Rapid Spin is great for getting rid of hazards. You can run the two of them if you want, and just run two attacks, and if you are, just get rid of Ice Beam.

Good luck with the team, I hope I helped!

Hey guys, thanks for your suggestions a lot.
Haha, the nature of Vapoeron is Bold of course, seems like I didn't correct that line after I have copy pasted it :-) --> just have fixed that.

As for Heatran:
How would you suggest to run it? The Timed Nature one with Fire Blast, Earth Power, HP Ice, and Stealth rock or do you think a Specially Defensive Heatran with a Calm Nature would be better?
I'm just asking this because I only have a hasty nature one and I cannot say at the moment if timid or calm is better. I always like my pokemon to have them on max speed especially for fighting opposing heatran but on the other hand a specially defensive heatran that can stop latios on the other hand doesnt sound that bad to me either - what do you guys think?

The reason why I like using the Choice Scarf on Starmie is because he is faster than anything. When I expect someone to setup a dragon dance on me i instantly switch into starmie and 1HKO the opposing monster. Don't know why but most of the time the ppl I face against think they are faster and try to hit me. But then they see that my Choice Scarfed Starmie is still faster and 1HKOs them with a Ice Beam. What I'm trying to say is that this set is not so predictionable and I get many free kills with that set. On the other hand I like the LO Starmie because I have access to Rapid Spin and I would use that move over Recover just because I don't think its neccessary to have on a LO Starmie and there is a (little) chance that aquana could wish some hp back later in the game to starmie if I have the chance to.
I also like the idea of having Trick on Latios. What do you think about two choice scarfed tricker? lol :-)
Haha.... I cannot decide.
I also like the brilliant idea that Latios could sweep as a god with a passed nasty plot late game.
I cannot decide maybe I should just go and do some playtests with these new sets.
OMG thank you so much guys. You are brilliant.

I agree with Trick, but IMO Choice Specs is a better choice for Latios. You already have Starmie, who with a Scarf is faster, and it appears you use Starmie, not Latios for revenge killing. Specs on Latios makes it a much better hit and run Poke, as you briefly mention. There are some small perks as well--Specs is arguably less dangerous to Trick since many opponents might switch in an attacker predicting a Trick, and that attacker migh actually benefit from a boost in Speed but not Special Attack. In other words, most of the time slower but powerful threats are easier to deal with. Good luck!
