OU Team: Help Wanted Please!

Hey guys,

I put together this team with the suggestions of previous posts, and I am around a 1300 in OU with it. I was hoping you all could make some suggestions to improve it even further. The two things that I wanted to improve on were adding rock- and fire-type moves to my Pokemons’ arsenal. Also, I sometimes get walled by Charizard Mega (both of them). Thanks in advance!

Greninja @ Wise Glasses

Ability: Protean

Shiny: Yes

EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP

Hasty Nature

- Scald

- Dark Pulse

- Ice Beam

- U-turn

Greninja was originally going to be my scout for the team, but it has turned into a powerful attacker, allowing Pokemon like Aegislash and Latios/Latias to be easily disposed of. Ice Beam is for the Dragon types that frequent OU, while Dark Pulse is mainly for the Aegislash. Scald I felt is another great move for Greninja to have, especially with its chance to burn the opponent. Finally, I included U-turn as a method of inflicting damage but safely switching to another Pokemon in my party. Protean allows each move to gain STAB,

Dragonite @ Leftovers

Ability: Multiscale

EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP

Adamant Nature

- ExtremeSpeed

- Dragon Claw

- Earthquake

- Dragon Dance

Dragonite is one of my best. He can sweep almost anyone after a Dragon Dance, and his Multiscale allows for him to survive one hit almost every time, which can make a Dragon Dance possible even then. After, that, using his diverse moveset, Dragonite can easily beat almost anybody. Ferrothorn can be taken care of by two EQs, while Dragon Claw is good against almost any type. I use either ES or EQ for Azumarill and other fairies (ex. Mawile).

Metagross @ Muscle Band

Ability: Clear Body

Shiny: Yes

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 HP / 252 Def

Adamant Nature

- Earthquake

- Zen Headbutt

- Meteor Mash

- Agility

Metagross can also sweep if given the chance to use Agility once or twice. With nearly 400 Atk and amazing defense, with quickened speed, Metagross can easily dispose of Ferrothorn and other walls, along with other regulars. Meteor Mash is for Azumarill, and its side effect makes it all the better. It also gets stab. Earthquake is for fire types that can do significant damage to Metagross, and Zen Headbutt also deals hefty damage.

Conkeldurr (M) @ Life Orb

Ability: Iron Fist

Shiny: Yes

EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 Atk

Mild Nature

- Mach Punch

- Drain Punch

- Thunder Punch

- Fire Punch

I included Conkledurr because frankly, I needed a Pokemon that could learn electric and fire moves in a useful manner. All of Conkledurr’s moves get powered up by its ability and held item. Drain Punch is for recovering HP lost with Life Orb, while Mach Punch is for disposing of Tyranitar, Greninja, and other fast Pokemon that can otherwise wreck my team. I chose Thunder Punch and Fire Punch as opposed to Ice Punch because my Greninja already knew Ice Beam. Also, Fire Punch is for Scizor/Ferrothorn/etc, and Thunder Punch is used for Talonflame/Staraptor.

Venusaur @ Venusaurite

Ability: Chlorophyll

Shiny: Yes

EVs: 161 SDef / 4 HP / 150 SAtk / 193 Def

Calm Nature

- Leech Seed

- Giga Drain

- Sludge Bomb

- Toxic

I repeatedly kept getting walled by Quagsires/Swamperts early on, so I needed a grass Pokemon. I originally had Celebi, but it got defeated too easily. With Megasaur, I have a Pokemon that can withstand many hits, and its Mega ability of Thick Fat makes it virtually have only one weakness. I wanted a Pokemon that could both wall and attack, and Venasaur does that. Giga Drain is to recover HP, and Sludge Bomb is also for fairies.

Espeon

Ability: Magic Bounce

EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP

Timid Nature

- Heal Bell

- Calm Mind

- Dazzling Gleam

- Psychic

I noticed that my party kept falling subject to status conditions (I once had a battle where everyone was frozen or paralyzed), so I wanted to include a Pokemon that could learn Heal Bell/Aromatherapy. I decided against Chancy because I also wanted a Pokemon that could attack. After a Calm Mind, Espeon becomes a great Sp. Attacker, and Dazzling Gleam can be used to take care of unsuspecting Dragon Types and Steel Types.

Again, please make suggestions. I was wondering how I should incorporate Rock, Fire, and Electric moves in my Pokemon, if necessary. If you guys foresee any Pokemon I could get walled against, please give suggestions. Also, if there are better Pokemon that can do the same role as one listed above, please say so. I am still a beginner (only been in Showdown for one month), so I would love suggestions. Thanks in advance!

For starters, give your Greninja a Life Orb and put those 4 HP EV's into its attack stat. As for your Conkeldurr, use this instead of what you're currently using:

Conkeldurr (M) @ Life Orb Assault Vest

Ability: Iron Fist Guts

Shiny: Yes

EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 Atk 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Sp. Def

Mild Nature Adamant Nature

- Mach Punch

- Drain Punch

- Knock Off

- Fire Punch / Thunder Punch (I'd use Ice Punch over these, but since you don't want it on your Conkeldurr because your Greninja has Ice Beam, you can test these two out and see which helps your team more).

Sorry I couldn't help much, but hopefully someone else comes in and helps with the rest of your team. Best of luck! :]

I have a lot of suggestions. First and most importantly, give your greninja a life orb. The extra power is huge for greninja and its bulky is terrible, so life orb is perfect.

Dnite is fine.

Metagross doesnt hit hard enough to sweep with agility and isnt all that great this gen. I recommend swapping it for a mega scizor. How does metagross get past ferro with your set anyway?

Conk should only use life orb on shear force sets as the life orb recoil kills its awesome bulk. You should also use knock off over fire punch so that ghosts dont wall you.

Venusaur should always run synthesis and I would sleep powder over toxic, however, since I recommended mega scizor, I think you should run chesnaught or ferrothorn here. Both seem to fit into you team well.

In place of espeon you should run sylveon. It has heal bell, better typing and more hp that you can use to pass wishes. Oh and fiary is resisted by steel.

Hi!
A tip:
Try out Lum Berry Dragonite, as you are using a Dragon Dance set and will let you avoid status while getting a free boost! Leftovers perhaps is not that useful without roost to recover your multiscale, so the berry will make your Dnite more effective.
Also you could use a rock type like Terrakion or Scarf Tyranitar to have a solid flyingspam counter and a mega charizard check.
here´s scarf ty set:

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Pursuit/Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Superpower/Earthquake

Good luck! :D

Thanks to everyone that replied!

Epique, who should I replace on my team with a Scarf Tyranitar/Terrakion?

mac1275, I included espeon because of its ability Magic Bounce to prevent at least some Stealth Rocks and status moves. Is Sylveon that much better that its inclusion would outweigh getting hit with Stealth Rock? Also, after an Agility, Metagross can usally defeat a Ferrothorn with 2-3 EQs. Without Fire Punch, I get walled by Steel and Bug types, which are far more numerous than ghost types in ou.

I replaced Conkledurr's Life Orb with an Assault Vest, I gave Greninja the Life Orb, and I gave Dnite the Lum Berry.
