OU Team (Newer to Competitive Battling)

New Team [OU RMT]

Ok, first off, I have no idea how I am suppose to post pictures, cause the stupid C&P thing won't work for me, so I apologize in advance for no pictures. If someone could send me a PM and help me, it would be appreciated. Onto the team:

Froslass @Focus Sash
Timid
Snow Cloak
252 SpA/ 4 SpD/ 252 Spe
Spike
Taunt
Destiny Bond
Ice Beam

Lass is, at this point, one of my favorite leads to start off with. Few things can outspeed her (Azelf and Aerodactyl of the top of my head), and the later is 2HKO with Ice Beam, if Focus Sash is in effect, which it usually is. So while they Taunt, and I Ice Beam, they are left to just SR on the next turn, which for this team is not much of a concern, as nothing on it is crippled by SR. Then, if they switch to something else, I can either out speed and set up a layer of Spikes, watch damage and D-Bond depending, or know the opponent has a Scarf, or a priority, and D-Bond, which has worked for me in the past, giving me either one or two kills with this.

Azelf @ Light Clay
Jolly
Levitate
252 HP/ 4 SpD/ 252 Spe
Reflect
Light Screen
Explosion
Taunt

This set is basically what the whole team revolves around. It can function without it, but the question is will it function as good? The answer is, no, and you will see why later. So, obviously Azelf will set up with Reflect and Light Screen, which will last for 8 turns, I think, because of the Clay. Then, it will either Explode, Taunt and then Explode, Taunt and Switch, or just Switch, depending on the opponent's Pokemon. If I am fighting a Steel type, I am not going to Explode, cause that would be stupid, and a waste of an attack. On the other hand, if I am fighting a Bronzong, who are known to have Dual Screens themselves, or SR and Boom, I can Taunt and switch.

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Bold
Synchronise
252 Def/ 100 SpA/ 156 SpD
Toxic
Wish
Protect
HP Ground

Ah, the ever so common Toxic stall. So, here is the deal; since Umbreon's SpD is already good, I decided to increase regular Def, since I am not running a Curse set. The stab in the back to all of this though, is the fact that any Steel or Poison type can come in and wall. My remedy to this is HP Ground or Fire, which is the main concern here. If you pay attention at all to stats, you would know that Umbreon's SpA is the butt end of many jokes, and is not good at all. Even with the 100 SpA, the only thing I could OHKO is possibly a Heatran because of the x4 Super Effectiveness, which is why I ran Ground, but even that isn't always going to be right. So, this set is the one that needs most work on this team.

Clefable @ Toxic Orb
Modest
Magic Guard
252 HP/ 252 SpA/ 4 Spe
Cosmic Power
Softboiled
Charge Beam
Ice Beam

To start of, this set is legal. I have had many accusations of this set, and I just wanted to put that out their, because when you transfer your Clefa/Clefairy/Clefable from FR/LG/E it has a chance of it getting the Magic Guard ability. That out of the way, onto the set. So, this works best behind the Screens earlier set up by Azelf, since her Defs, aren't the best in the world. With Magic Guard and Toxic Orb, she won't take damage and she can't be put to sleep, or Paralyzed, unless someone catches it on the switch. So, as the Screens are up, she will boost her stats with Cosmic Power, and once that is done, she can Charge Beam up, and be ready to sweep. The obvious downfalls of this set are Brick Breakers, she can take it from a non LO or Choiced one for a while, but it will kill her eventually, and Crits, since they go around those hard earned Defense boosts.

Blissy @ Leftovers
Bold
Natural Cure
252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 Spe
Aromatherapy
Softboiled
Seismic Toss
Thunder Wave

She is only here for one purpose, and one purpose only, making sure Umbreon does not get Paralyzed or Poisoned, cause those kill it, as I have used the Umbreon before, and that is what kills it a good present of the time, since it may not be able to Protect or Wish to restore HP for itself. So, Blissy with the Aromatherapy comes in, and saves the day, if she isn't hit by a fighting move that is. So, she Saves Umbreon, and then Thunder Waves the opponent, and either just sits and Seismic Tosses, or switches out. The only problem with her is that this hurts Clefable, and should only be used after she has been KOed, or not sent out yet.

Suicune w/ Life Orb
Timid
Pressure
252 SpA/ 4 SpD/ 252 Spe
Calm Mind
Surf
Ice Beam
HP Electric

This is really just hear for the major fighting weakness my team has, though a Ghost type like Dusk would be better, so this set may change at some point. So, she can set up on either the Screens or alone, and the Electric and Ice give it neutral coverage against everything but Lanturn and Shedninja, yada yada. Calm Mind up, sweep, or get killed, not much to say here.

Overall: The main weakness is my x3 Fighting weaknesses, and x2 on Bug, though the Bug one is less of a worry, as Azelf can take most bug attacks if I can predict it will be Atk or SpA, and I will set up the Screen to counter.

Interesting, and very unique.

Froslass is an unusual Lead in OU, but if she has the stats to back it up, by all means, you have a good moveset there.

This seems to work as a Stall team, but it's lacking several elements. Spikes can only do so much, and if you have a Flying Type or Levitating opponent there's not much you can do.

Bronzong is usually a better Dual Screener, but it doesn't have access to Taunt.

All in all, you just have too many walls, and not enough to abuse them with. You don't have Roar or Whirlwind for repeated entry damage, and no hazards to abuse. You have Walls, fine, but without a way to do damage how do you expect to win a battle?

The attacks you do have are Special, and if Blissy has Natural Cure (and you can bet she will) Toxic Stalling isn't an option, and she'll wall your attackers, all of which are Special.

Toxic also doesn't do anything against Steels. Consider Vaporeon over Umbreon, as it eliminates a Fighting weakness and has a bit more bulk.

And you have GOT to find a counter for Brick Break. Not only is it the Fighting Type that can take this team apart, but it bashes through your precious screens. Scizor is its most common carrier, something you don't have much of a counter for, and don't get me started on the issues you'll have with Close Combat Infernape.

Best advise I can give you, find a solid strategy to base your victory around, and abuse it as cheaply as you can. As it stands, it's just hit or miss, and severely unfocused.

Thank you, and I didn't consider Vaporeon. The steels are always my problem with it, and it is why it is harder to use. Though I still do need something that has an attack move, beside Seismic Toss, so the only option is to replace Suicune, but I don't know what to replace it with. Any suggestions? Also, now that I think of it, Bronzong could set up SR for an entry hazard, as anything with Levitate isn't hit hard, which is why I may make that change as well, now that you mentioned it. The bulk and access to SR would make it a better one then Azelf.
