[OU Team] Team *Winning*

Hey everyone. Giving it another go here with an OU team for gen 5. No special strategies here. No stalling, no baton passing, just pure offense. I am open to any suggestion including movepool switch ups as well as whole pokemon switch ups.

155px-248Tyranitar.png

Tyranitar @ Leftovers Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Dragon Dance

I like Tyranitar as a lead this gen. I find he is able to hold up against alot of other leads while I was playing around on Pokemon Online. Can also work as a sweeper later if I need to switch him out right away due to immediate threats. Crunch and Stone Edge are his best STABs and paired with Earthquake do the most coverage. Crunch gets rid of pesky Ghost and Psychic types. If I'm at an immediate advantage I'll throw out a Dragon Dance just to boost up his stats and get to sweeping.Standard EV setup for sweeping. The added EVs in speed help me out speed other TTar leads and Earthquake them out.

131px-640Virizion.png

Virizion @ Life Orb
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- X-Scissor / Stone Edge?
- Leaf Blade

Now I start bringing out the sweepers. Though Virizions stats are not the best, I like the coverage he gets as well as that he adds a grass type to my team. Swords Dance works the same as TTar's Dragon Dance, it's not a must, only going to pull one off if I have advantage on the other guys pokemon. Close Combat acts as a great STAB. Leaf Blade adds water coverage which is a little lacking in my team. Can't decide between X-Scissor or Stone Edge for his last move. It seems like X-Scissor would leave me with more coverage but Stone Edge is more powerful. What do you guys think?

170px-121Starmie.png

Starmie @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic

One of my favorite pokemon in the whole series. He gets great coverage and is fairly speedy giving him an advantage over many other pokemon. Mainly works as a revenge killer as he is quite fragile and has been OHKO many times in while using him. Not much to say here, movepool just adds alot of coverage in general. Choice Scarf to out speed alot of other guys. EV spread adds extra power in his SAtk (which all his moves are) and speed for well, being speedy. HydoPump and Psychic are STABS on this guy.

180px-609Chandelure.png

Chandelure @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Flamethrower
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
- Psychic

Don't hate me for using him but I think this is one of the best fire types I've ever seen. Love also that he's Ghost so when I go up against a Fighting type lead I can just switch out TTar for this guy, he takes no damage and hopefully OHKOs the threat. Flamethrower and Shadow Ball for STAB damage. Energy Ball adds coverage over water. Psychic to quickly dispatch of fighting types. EV spread like Starmie's, made for out speeding and killing as fast as possible. Choice Scarf to add speed. This guy is mainly revenge killer.

250px-473Mamoswine.png

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Trait: Thick Fat

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Superpower
- Stone Edge

Ugly as hell and UU but I noticed this guy holds up alot in the OU metagame. I even managed to sweep a hole guys team once with this guy. He's faster than he looks. Ice Shard works wonders for revenge killing and priority against fragile dragons. Earthquake is STAB damage and one of his most powerful moves. Superpower and Stone Edge for coverage and massive damage. Life Orb helps with sweeping and this guy is a little stronger than my other guys so he can take some more damage. Jolly nature and speed EVs help him out speed some guys. EVs in Atk are pretty self explanatory.

Haxorus @ Focus Sash
Trait: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

This guy is a BEAST. Atk wise that is. This guy is suppose to get out there, throw out a Dragon Dance and start Outraging and hopefully get through some pokemon. Earthquake is one of his powerful moves and Rock Slide adds coverage. This guy can get OHKOd alot so the focus sash helps prevent that so he can still manage to throw out a Dragon Dance. Hopefully by then he can out speed and OHKO the other guy. Adamant nature to make him more of a beast.

That's it for now. Any suggestions are very appreciated.

Honestly, your team is going to destroy itself with that sandstorm. You have to pick a different lead, like gliscor or aerodactyl or something. 4/6 of your team takes damage from the sandstorm, one of which is holding a focus sash. If you're running people weak to the sandstorm you should at least put leftovers on them to negate the damage.
I recommend:
Gliscor @ Leftovers|Toxic Orb(for poison heal)
Impish (+Def,-SpA)
Hyper Cutter|Poison Heal(illegal with roost and stealth rock)
252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
-Taunt
-Stealth Rock|Toxic/Substitute
-Earthquake
-Roost|Stone Edge
I recommend the leftovers set, just because he can set up rocks and roost off any damage, but if you want more recovery with poison heal you have to sacrifice roost and stealth rock for other useful moves, like stone edge, toxic and substitute.

I feel like Mamoswine doesn't have the Ice attack power it should. Why not drop one of superpower/stone edge for Icicle Crash(or Ice Spear if your worried about accuracy and substitutes)?

With how offensive your team is, you should try to find room for some entry hazards even if your just adding Stealth Rock to Mamoswine or TTar.

I like the opportunities you have to switch in Chandelure with Mamoswine, Virizion, and TTar attracting fighting and fire attacks but remember you will be switching into those types and generally forcing them to switch out. This leaves you guessing what choice move to choose for the incoming pokemon. Try taking the choice scarf off, adding a life orb for more damage and replacing Psychic with Flame Charge. That way when you come in you can flame charge the switch to do a little damage and add +1 to your speed. Psychic is only useful against fighters which you can already counter simply by being immune to their STAB.

At that point you will outspeed most things and wield STAB fire and ghost attacks, plus an 80 BP grass attack to throw at possible water, ground, or rock switch ins.

Another interesting possibility would be for you to throw an Air Balloon on Chandelure instead of the Life Orb and that would give you 3 common attacking types you could switch into. I don't know if its the best item you could use but its useful and could provide that one turn you need to flame charge, if you come in on a choice earthquake or select ground pokes.

Well, I've tried using Tyranitar as a lead before along with multiple non-sandstorm resistant mons, however, I find that this is rather unpractical, since you're running an offensive team, I think you might as well go with sandstorm abusers too!

Minor things:

-You have many mons running max attack and max speed sets, however, your last 4 EVs are generally dedicated to one of the defenses, I'd recommend them to go into HP
-On your Virizion, I'd recommend X-scissor, coverage over power, I say.
-I'd recommend Overheat on Chandelure over Flamethrower, especially because Chandelure (Choice Scarfed) is going to be a hit and run mon.
-I'd recommend Scarf Ttar instead of DD ttar as the attacks in 5th gen are more threatening, meaning that it's harder for a naturally slow mon like Ttar to setup, I think it's better to use him as a revenge killer.
-I'd definitely recommend Icicle Spear over one of your moves in Mamoswine.

Pokemon replacements:

Haxorus

Change to:

Garchomp @ Lum Berry
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
-Swords Dance
-Dragon Claw
-Stone Edge
-Fire Fang

Reason:
Haxorus is weak to sandstorm and Garchomp makes a perfect sandstorm abuser with Sand Veil, Swords Dance raises its already amazing attack to sky high levels (higher than Haxorus after one DD boost) and it's high speed allows it to outspeed the majority of the tier. The three moves grants perfect coverage (great partner for Ttar)

Recommended Pokemon to fit in somewhere: Excadrill

Reason:

This guy just fits in perfectly with sandstorm, it's just a recommendation, but it hits sky high speed under sandstorm conditions. Also, after a swords dance, it hits 810 attack (adamant nature) you don't need jolly nature since it get x2 speed under sandstorm

Recommended set:

Excadrill
item: Air Balloon
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
-Swords Dance
-Rock Slide (doesn't learn Stone Edge)
-Earthquake
-X-scissor

3 moves for good coverage, countered by Gliscor, nuff said.

Threats:

SkarmBliss(Chansey)

Annoying as hell, but it needs to be addressed, and the only way to do that is a mixed sweeper, I'd recommend Blaziken, but since it's banned, I'll go for infernape, here's the set I'd recommend

Infernape @ Life Orb
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk / 62 SpA / 192 Spe
-Close Combat
-Flare Blitz
-Earthquake / Mach Punch (Priority or power)
-Overheat

Just takes down SkarmBliss with the supereffective moves, however, it's pretty weak compared to the rest of the team, but when used properly, it could take down some pokes. But really, this is the only way to rape SkarmBliss, a mixed sweeper.

Hope I helped!
