OU Team

http:///Users/josephpallotta/Pictures/donphan.pngThis is an offensive OU team consisting of 3 Steels, 2 Dragons and 1 Ground. This team began with the idea of 2 dragon dance users, much like the synergy of Rayquaza and Salamence in Gen 4 OU. The rest of the team is used to counter enemy Dragons, eliminate enemy Steels, setup hazards for easier sweeping and eliminate enemy hazards. One of the Dragons is typically used mid-game to blow holes through the enemy team and draw out its counters for me to trap (usually Haxorus). The other Dragon (typically Dragonite) is saved late game because of its access to a +2 priority which lets him pick off weakened foes after a single dance. I use lesser-seen sets on popular Pokemon such as Focus Sash Genesect, Sub Haxorus and Scarfed Magnezone to catch my foe off guard.

Dragonite @ Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 6 Hp/252 Atk/252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- ExtremeSpeed

Dragonite was the first Dragon I decided on because of its great coverage, easy access to at least one dragon dance thanks to multiscale (as long as rocks are removed) and lum berry for those who chance using a status move. A great late game sweeper, and can easy rip apart teams with just one wrong move by the opponent.

Haxorus@ Lum Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 36 Hp/252 Atk/220 Spe
Nature: Adamant
- Substitute
- Dragan Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake

Haxorus was the other Dragon I decided on. Haxorus forces many switches because it is usually seen in Choiced variants, which allows for many free subs. Its ability in Mold Breaker only compliments this set because Earthquake can be used as a sole coverage move alongside Dragon Claw to hit Steels and Levitate users. Lum Berry is used for when I decide to go straight for the Dragon Dance, making me faster then the opponent next turn and resulting in a free Sub. I love how this beast has no 4x weaknesses and no Stealth Rock weakness, a major advantage over Salamence. A great answer to Rotom-W who would other cause much trouble for this team.

Magnezone@ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 6 Hp/ 252 SpAtk/252 Spe
Nature: Timid
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
- Hp Fire

Magnezone: I love you. This thing has saved me in so many battles. It’s the answer to Skarmory, Scizor, Choiced Genesects locked into anything bar Flamethrower, Forretress, Tornadus, Ferrothorn, Rain teams etc. The scarf is a nice surprise for Keldeo’s who expect a switch and try to setup with Calm Mind. Ha. You’ll do good.

Genesect @ Focus Sash
Ability: Download
EVs: 6 Hp/252 SpAtk/ 252 Spe
Nature: Modest
- Bug Buzz
- Giga Drain
- Ice Beam
- Flamethrower

Genesect was another must for its amazing coverage, attacking stats, typing and ability. However, this one is sashed. The reason for sash over Life Orb is because when opponents don’t see the Life Orb recoil, they immediately assume scarfed/specs. It’s also a great lead because of its ability to takeout opposing Genesect’s, Rotom-W’s, and its ability to force switches and surprise opponents with its ability to switch moves. Since most Genesects are Scarfed, I felt it would be a waste to use a Timid nature, and went for the increase in power instead.

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Hp/232 Def/24 Spe
Nature: Impish
- Spikes
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Whirlwind

Skarmory was another must for its ability to setup Spikes, phaze opponents, stall your enemy and wall Dragons. Yeah we basically all know what Skarm does at this point.

Donphan@ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs:252 Hp/6 Atk/252 Def
Nature: Impish
- Stealth Rocks
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Rapid Spin

Donphan was the last piece for this team. It has great defense, an amazing ability to reinsure I either get Rocks up or spin them away, a great move in Ice Shard to pickup off weakened Dragons and Flying-types. Has great synergy with Skarmory for its ability to switch safely into Electric moves. Also is my number one answer to Heatran who’s a pain for this team is Haxorus is eliminated already.

I really love this team for its ability to play off how my opponent plays. It can be a stall team thanks to 3 steel types, a phazer and ability to setup Rocks and Spikes. This team can capitalize on just one wrong move by the opponents and end the game very quickly thanks to two great sweepers. The first thing I look for when I play is if the opponents has a Rapid Spin user, and if so, eliminate it before I setup hazards. I next find the Stealth Rock user, assuming there is one, and save Dragonite until this user is eliminated unless I find an appropriate time to switch in Dragonite before the Rocks are up and I know I can get a Dragon Dance up. A very fun team to play with, with great success on PO. So what do you guys think?
