Hi, this is my first thread.
This OU team is rather decent, it has reached 1500+ on the OU ladder. My team-building skills are quite bad, so it might not be the best. Please leave comments and suggestions on how I can improve this team below.
This is the team:
Venusaur-Mega @ Venusaurite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA
Rash Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Venusaur is a very good lead pokemon as it can deal with most of OU's other lead pokemon. Stuff like Ferrothorn and Forteress are 2HKOed by HP Fire and Sludge Bomb does a lot of damage to other pokemon in general. Giga Drain is used for recovering health and STAB, while earthquake is used to deal with things like Heatran, since Thick Fat makes fire-type attacks neutral. EV's are obvious and Rash nature so as to get good hits on Heatran and other fire-type pokemon.
Talonflame @ Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Swords Dance
Talonflame is one of my main sweepers. Strong STAB moves in Brave Bird (which is also priority) and Flare Blitz do a lot of damage. U-turn is to get away from dangerous pokemon that threaten Talonflame and Swords Dance to ensure Talonflame does more damage on its STAB moves. Leftovers are to keep Talonflame alive for as long as possible and reduce the impact of recoil damage from Brave Bird and Flare Blitz.
Bisharp @ Focus Sash
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 44 HP / 252 Atk / 212 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance
Bisharp is another very good sweeper and its attack is deadly. Knock off and Sucker Punch are very powerful dark type moves and Iron head is a powerful steel type move too. Swords Dance also ensures that things get swept once Bisharp sets up. The EV's are set to try and balance out the distribution between its HP and its Speed so that it is decent in everything. Also, Focus Sash is given to Bisharp so that it can tank the first OHKO move.
Gengar @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Destiny Bond
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- Focus Blast
Gengar is a very good revenge killer as it can not only take out pokemon with its STAB moves and high speed, but with destiny bond and focus sash, it can take out very powerful sweepers on the opponents team as well. Focus sash, as said previously, is used to ensure gengar has 1HP remaining so it can use destiny bond or get another hit. Focus blast is for steel and dark types which wall Gengar and Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb are good STAB moves to use.
Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Play Rough
- Belly Drum
Azumarill is used in many ways, as with its 4x attack it can essentially kill almost everything that does not resist it, which is good when you're in a tight spot. Waterfall and Play Rough are good STAB moves which deal a lot of damage and aqua jet kills everything once belly drum is set up as it is a priority move. The sitrus berry is to make up for the belly drum damage.
Latios (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Thunderbolt
Latios is the hazard control and secondary special sweeper of this team. Defog is very important for this team as stealth rocks and any other hazards cripple talonflame(rocks), bisharp(hazards break its sash) and Gengar (hazards break its sash) . Also, latios is important as it is the only special sweeper i have that can touch chansey due to psyshock and draco meteor wipes out almost all dragons. Thunderbolt is just used for coverage
My team's weaknesses are mainly hazard abuse and stall. Hazard abuse cripples my team as I have two pokemon on sash and I have Talonflame who is 4x weak to rock. Stall is also a weakness for me as i do not have a lot of pokemon who can stall break.
