OU Team *

Hey everybody, this is a new team that i made. I've had decent success with it, around a 60/40 win rate. Not quite as good as some of my other teams, but i think it has potential, and i'd like some help on it.

Here goes.
jirachi.png

TehRachi (Jirachi) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 80 HP/252 Atk/176 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Trick
- Iron Head
- Thunder Wave
- Stealth Rock

This Jirachi is surprisingly enough meant to scout. When people & there Hippowdon/Metagross leads see a Jirachi, they *somehow* never switch out. So, they get tricked, and are locked in on Stealth Rock. Meanwhile, i get to Stealth Rock and Paralyze some pokes. Paralysis support is helpful for this team, as my sweepers aren't very fast at all. Iron head is a good utility move for flinching and dealing out some haxy damage.

snorlax.png

SexyTummy (Snorlax) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP/176 Atk/80 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Fire Punch
- Pursuit
- Return
- Earthquake

So, when i wanted my second poke, i thought of something that resisted Fire, one of Jirachi's weaknesses, could counter Tran, and also served as a Special Wall that could deal out damage and pursuit stuff. Snorlax was the answer. Pursuit for Psychics, Return for STAB damage and 2KOing Bliss, Zappy, and other stuff. Fire Punch for Bronzong/Skarm, and EQ for taking out Metagross and Tran. The EVs i have allow me to be quite bulky while retaining a high attack stat, especially with the Band on.

gliscor.png

FuckingGliscor (Gliscor) (M) @ Yache Berry
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 176 HP/80 Atk/176 Def/76 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Roost

This Gliscor is meant to kill Zapdos. And, sweep, to a certain extent. The EVs still grant it with physical walling capabilities, + some speed and attack to make sweeping easier. Switching Gliscor into Heracross and Lucario is quite fun-as i get a free SD as they switch, and quite often i find their switch in to be a Zapdos-obviously carrying HP Ice. So, i OHKO with Stone Edge. Unless they are running bulky Zapdos this will indeed OHKO after an SD, and with the Yache Berry, HP Ice won't give them the OHKO. SD EQ also hurts anything that doesn't resist or is Hippowdon and other bulky shit.
Credit for nickname goes to wildfire393. Also, this resists Ground, one of Jirachi's weaknesses, and Fighting, one of Snorlax's.

spiritomb.png

WonderTomb (Spiritomb) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 176 HP/252 SAtk/80 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Will-o-wisp
- Pain Split

One of my friends came up with an idea for something called a Burn team, which revolved around Burning people and setting up CM. This is somewhat similar to that idea-Burning to prevent taking much from Physical attacks, and then setting up Nasty Plot. Pain Split is for recovery, and Dark Pulse is there because it hits everything, not necessarily for neutral, but nothing is immune to it.

empoleon.png

EmperorPengy (Empoleon) (M) @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Agility
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Substitute
- Surf

Imo this is one of the most underrated pokes in OU. Agility/Sub Petaya can wreak a lot of havoc. i have never had a game in which this didn't get a kill either. its funny when opposing magnezones come in to. because, they come in on a sub, after whihc i agility, sub again to the petaya activation, then can OHKO. The only solid counter to this imo is Blissey or Quagsire.

salamence.png

DragonSlayer (Salamence) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Stone Edge

this is one of the most iffy Pokemon on my team. Sure, Choice Band Dragon Claw hurts a lot, but i don't find that i outrun as many pokemon as i would like too, with the abundance of random scarfed stuff. I was thinking i could make it a Scarfmence.

What do you guys think?

Also, if i keep the Band on, Fire Fang>Fire Blast?

I would think not, because i want to be able to do more damage to skarm and Forry. But not sure.

Edit: Threat List coming soon

On your spiritomb, I reccomend calm mind over nasty plot. Calm mind boosts your special d. as well, and you're cutting physical attackers in two with WoW. The only counter to this would be heracross, but I haven't seen one of those in forever.

For Jirachi I'd go with a Jolly Nature. I know you want to Paralyze Pokés and then have more power afterwards, but Jirachi isn't the powerhouse that looses half it's offensive abilities by using a Jolly Nature, only you manage to outspeed Salamence even after Tricking away the Scarf, which can be of immense significance later. And, with the Scarf intact, you outspeed a lot of the DDers even after the Dance, stopping the sweep. Also, for Paralyzing, opt for Body Slam. With Serence Grace, Body Slam has a 60% Paralyze rate, and you're able to hit Ground-Pokémon. You can also break faster but frail Pokés that tries to Taunt or Sub in your face. Only Gengar and Mismagius of the Ghosts are faster than you anyway, and neither will live two Iron Heads.

To Snorlax, a Special-oriented Tyranitar seems to be able to do everything you want Snorlax to accomplish, just with more offensive Power, and also more SpDef (but with more weaknesses and less HP). Every Bulky Water also does the same, - the Pursuit-bit. If you still want to keep Snorlax, at least give it Selfdestruct. Choice Banded STAB Selfdestruct is something even Skarmory has to bit the dust to. Replace Fire Punch if so. You really isn't winning agains Skarm with it anyways, and Bronzong's still able to set up on you.

You should really decide wether you want your Gliscor to be sweeping or to be walling. If you want the former, use a Jolly Nature with 216 Speed to take all Lucarios, and also beating most Zapdoses. If you want it to be tanking, I'd drop Swords Dance and give it Taunt, shutting down Skarmory and Hippowdon switch-ins. But you seem to want it to sweep, so I suggest Jolly with 216 Speed.

On Spiritomb, I agree with boundersting. With Nasty Plot, you don't really need Modest and SpAtt EVs. With W-o-W, you don't need Bold and much Defense EVs either, so go with a Calm nature, max HP and something around max SpDef as well. This let's you be somewhat a sweeping tank, which seems to be what your team revolves around alltogether.

For Salamence, Fire Blas is always the preferred option. Fire Fang is just such a weak move, and even with a - Nature and no EVs, Fire Blast hits Forretress and Skarmory for much more damage. What it seems you need is however, is a Dragon Dance Salamence. After a Dance, you sort of have both a 'Scarf and a Band', sorting out that problem fairly easily. You don't really need Stone Edge as your move anyway, since Dragon/Ground is only resisted by Bronzong and Skarmory, two Pokémon taken care of by Fire Blast. DDMence is one of the most dangerous threats there is today too. You should then use Outrage over Dragon Claw, since you miss out on a lot of crucial OHKOs. For instance, Outrage has (with Stealth Rock) a 41% chance of OHKOing Swampert. With Dragon Claw you can only manage maximum 66%.

Other than that, a Swords Dancing Scizor can be a nuisance if you let it pull off a Swords Dance, so just be careful about that.
Seems like a pretty cool team, providing some sweeping abilities while still maintaining the bulk! ;)

=).

Yeah, i run Fire Blast on my bulky DDmence with Impish, so still works great on the CB. i was just verifying.

Tyranitar has a double fighting weakness which irks me. Its bulkiness is nice, but its not always as successful as i would like it to be.

I thought of an idea for an interesting Ttar set that seems ok for me, should i use over Snorlax?

Tyranitar @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Stream
176 Hp/80 Atk/76 Spd/176 SAtk (Naive)
-Rock Polish
-Fire Blast
-Earthquake
-Rock Slide/Stone Edge~Which one do you suggest? Rock Slide flinch hax can be important, and i have problems with Stone Edge missing.

The goal of this set is to get some quick KOs and work late game.

its basically a RPBoah.

The goal of the attacking move combination is meant to be a wall breaker.

I am considering running Flamethrwer/Surf/Crunch in its place.

This might sound silly, but think about the OU metagame.

Steel pokemon; Bulky Ground Pokemon, and a bunch of fast Ghosts and Psychics.

Crunch would cover those, and Flamethrower covers steels, while Surf can cover bulky ground types. In this scenario i might run 176 Atk/80 Spd/252 SAtk. Or, maybe, 76 Atk/176 Spd/252 SAtk.

What do you think?

Also having conundrums about the nature. I definitely don't want -SAtk, and preferably not -Atk. I thought of Naive, because the SDef drop won't hurt as much due to Sandstorm, but still. Was considering Rash, +SAtk could do some more damage.

Damage: 75.00% - 88.33%

This is the damage with Rash to a Hippowdon from a LO Surf.

This couldn't be a OHKO unless they switched in on one of TTar's attacks, or there was SR and no lefties. Basically, hopeless. Sure, i can 2HKO, but i can get hit by an EQ, or roared out, then picked off by a Scizor.

So i think that Naive is the way to go, as it doesn't turn many 2HKOs into OHKOs. One nice thing is, Surf will OHKO Gliscor with SR (Damage: 86.16% - 101.41%). And sometimes, without.

So i think i will run Surf/Flamethrower/Crunch just for an anti-meta Tar.

So the final set would be:

MetaKiller (Tyranitar) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Stream
76 Atk/176 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
-Rock Polish
-Flamethrower
-Surf
-Crunch

Any other suggestions?
