So, being a huge Trick Room player back in SM OU, I felt that I would experiment with one in SwSh. The loss of many star players has hit me hard (RIP MMawile, Magearna, Stakataka, Lunala, Uxie, Marowak, basically everyone.) But that isn't going to stop me from trying something new. Here we go!
Wiz (Hatterene-Gmax) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Dazzling Gleam
- Trick Room
- Giga Drain
- Psychic
This one should be self explanatory. Hatterne is there for Setting, for sweeping, for overall usage.
S.S. Chef (Crawdaunt) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Crabhammer
- Knock Off
- Aqua Jet
- Crunch
Chef of the S.S. Diarrhea has come back for his revenge. He's here to represent the fallen gen 7 all-stars of trick room.
This gives us some nice priority, some nice power, knock off usage, he seemed an obvious fit.
Candela-bro (Chandelure) (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Shadow Ball
- Flamethrower
- Trick Room
- Dark Pulse
Chandelure getting trick room was as good a recovery from Marowak as we could get. And this time, it has trick room, too! (At the cost of rocks).
Spooky Rubble (Runerigus) (M) @ Mental Herb
Ability: Wandering Spirit
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
- Taunt
- Memento
- Stealth Rock
- Trick Room
Again, I don't think that this team needs much explanation. Runerigus here is the classic Suicide Lead that trick room is oh so familiar with.
Titan (Conkeldurr) (M) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
Happiness: 160
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Mach Punch
- Defog
I have no idea why Conkeldurr gets Defog, but now we have removal, another Priority set, and some strong power with Guts. Originally I used Machamp, but Conkeldurr is just better.
Magic Schoolbus (Vikavolt) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Happiness: 160
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- Bug Buzz
- Energy Ball
- Volt Switch
Lastly, the bug. He can't set trick room, but I think having three setters is plenty. Instead, he gives me some volt switch usage, so that I can easily switch into a setter.
