Tournament OUPL IX - Week 1

  • Follow all rules listed here.​
  • Schedule via Smogon VMs. It's easier for me to make decisions for activity calls when I can actually see what went down with scheduling.​
  • If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to me or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.​
  • Substitutions may be made after a week has started. When making a substitution, please tag myself, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware. Players who have already played in the week or were subbed out in the same week cannot be subbed back in.​
  • If a match remains incomplete by the time of the deadline, it will be subject to an activity call.​
  • Replays are mandatory. Not only are they useful for confirming wins, they contribute to usage stats and allow the people who couldn't watch the games live to watch them later.​

Some SV predicts, not including my team due to obvious bias. Nothing personal, happy to be proven wrong by wins from the people I predicted against. This tour has historically been a cool place to see players pop off pre-SPL, so I look forward to some quality games. Cheers.

SV OU: Pkel SweeTforU vs chansey and lulu - Pkel is a very solid SV player, had a bad Scl but shit happens; he's much better than the record suggests. Haven't kept up as much with Chansey's progress since his olt laddering but that was decent and showed a willingness to grind, which is a plus for a meta as rapidly changing as SV OU.

SV OU: Hiko vs SupaGmoney - Haven't loved the Hiko SV games I've seen tbh, but hes still much more experienced than Supa, who's mostly lost in sheet games and hasn't played many PLs. This actually makes me think that Supa might show up to "prove himself", though you could make the same argument for Hiko after probably not getting the results he wanted from Scl. I think Supa maybe might show up a lil harder due to having minimal team tour results, so going with him.

SV OU: Gray vs waffle04 - Gray had a good run in OLT, Waffle is a friend but I'm gonna be real I don't think I've ever seen him play SV OU.

SV OU: dunoks vs Dugtrio Is Broken - DIB has a teambuilder with a million teams within it, but I think play could be improved. He's been getting better, but he still has some ways to go imo. I'd favor dunoks probably.

SV OU: Baddy vs Laroxyl - Baddy is giga shiest, this guy keeps farming these PLs + is having a good Scl debut. Haven't kept up with Laroxyl as much tbh but they're prob solid too, and performed well iirc on OLT ladder. Fire match, looking forward to this game.

SV OU: tier vs Plague - Never seen tier play but I like the username aesthetically so props on that. Plague has played hella tours and they are good at SV, so favor them.

SV OU: Axzel vs LpZ - Ngl I need to watch more games from both, LpZ had a 6-5 SV SPL and has a 5-3 PU Scl atm so probably them. From the bits I've seen of Axzel they seem good too, can probably go either way.

SV OU: Ewin vs sire clod - Ewin is having a great year in this tier, and ranks as one of the top players in both the OUPL pool and SV generally. Clod is having his first real tour debut in Scl (this is a rematch) to rocky results. I think there's definitely promise, but there's been some misplays imo that have stood out. While I believe Ewin has a considerable edge, its important to note that the Scl game they had was quite close, so upset potential is definitely possible for clod.

SV OU: Patatexv vs clean - Clean is one of the best players of this meta, and while Scl has been a bit rough, he's still very good and I'd favor him quite heavily here. That being said, don't sleep on Patatex. He's brought some creative builds in the past and has played in a lot of PLs as of late, so there is upset potential for sure. Overall though, I'd go with the more experienced name on this one.

SV OU: Ming549 vs Alhen - Alhen had a great OLT run against some tough opponents. Don't know much about Ming so going Alhen.

SV OU: Leroipolux vs Cow - Cow had a fire ptpl run in SV OU and has been improving in the tier, but part of me thinks Leroipolux might pull an upset here idk

SV OU: d18l vs RZA - d18l is my boy and its very hype to see him starting. That being said, RZA has greater sv results, and given d18l is new to tours, its hard to not favor RZA when bias is put aside. Rooting for d18l tho.
