After a successful tournament last year, OUPL is back for its second edition in generation 9. If you would like to manage, please read the following details before signing up. This tournament will be rewarding a custom avatar and a prize banner for the winning team. If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to PM me or another OU Moderator.

Details:
  • Every manager needs an assistant manager.
  • Retains are allowed and will follow the traditional retain rules. (This is new)
  • Managers and assistant managers are required to be in the public OU Discord. Players are recommended to join and we will have team roles and match roles available.
  • Each team will need 10 starting players, and at least 4 substitutes.
  • The auction will be held on PS!, standard auction
  • SPL/SCL Inactivity rules
  • 8 teams and 7 weeks followed by the top 4 teams competing in semifinals and finals
The format for this edition of OUPL will be 10 slots:
  • SV OU x 4
  • SS OU x 2
  • SM OU x 2
  • ORAS OU x 1
  • Best of 3 (SV OU/ SS OU/SM OU)
The expected timeline for this tournament will be:
  • Manager signups: Today - Sunday, October 13th
  • Player signups: Monday, October 14th - Thursday October 24th 11:59 PM GMT-4
  • Draft: Hopefully weekend of October 26th/27th
  • Week 1: October 28th
  • Finals (assuming no tiebreaks): December 23rd

For the "Returning Team" option is where you can list what team you would like to takeover or replace, although keep in mind returning managers/players from the previous team are given priority. I was asked a few times about manager self buys being an option. Personally I'm not a fan because of the subjective pricing, but I will let the community decide, so please state in your sign up if you'd like to have those for this year or not.

Deadline for Manager signups will be Sunday, October 13th, at 1 PM GMT-4. The OU mod team (that's me) + hosts (also me) will pick managers for the rest of Sunday and then announce them later that night. If you have any questions/concerns/feedback or suggestions, feel free to let me or another OU moderator know immediately and we'll see what we can do.

Qualifications/Previous managing history: My managing experience varies quite a lot from DPPPL to support managing currently for NDPL and some backend discord tournaments. My Co-Manager is none other than the legendary Slowpoke Fan whos managed Team China for DLWC earlier this year, managed Team China for RCop, and most importantly managed the winning team in SSPL singlehandedly in the playoffs. I am also a OU forum mainer (known poster and contributor on the forums) as well as a OU Discord moderator for the OU discord, I participated last year in OUPL as a player and had a not too shabby record of 4-1. Slowpoke Fan is also active in the SS community as a moderator on the forums as well as on SS Discord. Based on the combined experience and synergy as friends, I think we should be selected as managers.

Confirming, but we would like to change the name of the franchise to the Jersey Shore Slowpokes TPP

Team Name: Knights of the Blood Oath
Qualifications/Previous managing history: We have both already been part of this team last year, me still as a Manager and Pais as a player. Managing has been my main activity on Smogon for years now, and I have accumulated my fair share of experience and good results. Most notably, I have managed Official team tournaments before, such as SCL and WCOP, working with every single tier that's part of this tournament. I've also managed basically every Unofficial tournament you can find on Smogon featuring newgens OU, and I've done well in most of them. As for Pais, he's a well-known player of said tiers, who has collected outstanding Official results this year, both in WCOP and in the first part of SCL IV. He's able to support the vast majority of the slots, and overall I can comfortably say: we are both committed to having a good tournament!

I've qualified for every single OU official tournament on the site, which includes making semis of smogon tour. I also have lots of success across many side tournaments on the website generally getting along with everyone. Clean is an established SV player, currently top 8 in OLT and is definitely not new to managing himself. Together I believe we can out together a winning team.

Qualifications/Previous managing history: (if it's too long just know I probably won't read it and no one else will either): I've managed Brazil in World Cup in 2020, 2023 and 2024. We made it out of play-ins and almost made top 8. I also won SPL as manager in 2020.
A plague doc is a very active, up and coming player who just got their first sheet game and win in SCL. They're also managing PTPL right now. They've won BDSPPL as a manager this year.

Qualifications/Previous managing history: (if it's too long just know I probably won't read it and no one else will either): In an effort to keep this short, I will say that we are both great builders to support our current gen core and we both made playoffs of this tour (on different teams) last time. We both have taken part in wcop/SCL and many other tours. I chose spell because we work great together and we will cover each other's blind spots well.

Qualifications/Previous managing history: I have managed 20+ tours on this site, making playoffs in the vast majority of them, and devin has managed several tours as well including a wcop. I managed oupl with devin last year where we made semis, and woulda made finals if not for a last turn dwb miss (yes I'm still not over it). We also managed adpl where we made semis and blt 2 years in a row, making semis the 1st year and finals the 2nd. Between the 2 of us, we have extensive knowledge of all ou metas and have always attained success managing together, looking to go all the way this year if the universe finally allows it.

Qualifications/Previous managing history: (if it's too long just know I probably won't read it and no one else will either) I've managed a couple side tournaments over the years with a ton of success + have been part of the manager core ( as a retain) that won the scl in 2022, Ky is someone who's been very active in all Premier leagues and side tournaments with a ton of experience on prepping and building

Qualifications/Previous managing history: Vulpix has managed both SCL & SPL twice, hes won PUPL & RUPL as a manager and also took his ROAPL team to playoffs both times he managed. OUPL 1 was my first ever teamtour on this website, ive been in 16 team tournaments so far and only recently discovered how much fun it is to manage. I'm sure me and pix are able to build a strong team and build them a good environment if given this chance.
