Pal Park abilities clarification

I cloned my EV trained Tangelas, and transferred them to Pal Park. I wanted a Tangrowth with Chlorophyll, but all 6 Tangrowths got the Leaf Guard trait.

What are the chances that a pokemon will keep its trait, or gain another one, for that matter, if it is transferred to Pal Park?

And should I keep cloning my Tangelas, or is it a lost cause?
 
I'm not sure on the chance, I'd guess at 50/50 but I can't be sure. But like the above post said, since yours is a clone, and the change is pre determined in every Pokémon, it's bound to keep getting the new trait.
 
Sadly, clones always keep the same trait when traded over. They change because GameFreak changed the way Abilities are calculated in D/P, and when they evolve it changes to whatever ability they would have had in D/P. This means that the random variable from RSLFE that determines their ability (even if they only had one), which is set in stone from the second you encounter it and is the same for clones, determines whether they change. I'd advise catching/breeding a lot and just trading them over without EV Training them. EV Train them on D/P, if they get the ability you want, and scrap them if the ability remains the same.
