Hello everyone! This is my second BW RMT, and I'm still a bit shaky on building teams, so here we go. This team is based on a paraflinching and spreading paralysis, with some extra sweepers thrown in. This strategy worked pretty well for me in DPP OU, and works pretty well in BW as well. I'm just looking for some tips to make this team even better, and all critisism is welcome. So without further ado, here's the Parahax team.
Togekiss (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Def / 68 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Body Slam
- Air Slash
- Aura Sphere
- Roost
What paraflinching team would be without Togekiss? Togekiss, with Serene Grace, Air Slash, and Body Slam, is an excellent candidate for paraflinching (one of two, actually). Air Slash is a surprisingly good move, hitting the enourmouse amounts of fighting type pokemon in BW OU. Body Slam is chosen over Thunder Wave because it gets STAB and is capable of hitting non-ghost type pokemon. Aura Sphere rounds out the coverage. This togekiss is also quite bulky, so Roost is an appropriate move to get back some HP and make Togekiss last longer. The only real complaint I have is that its weak to Stealth Rock, and with the lack of a Rapid Spinner on this team, that can become an issue.
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Thunder Wave
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch
Jirachi is the other big paraflincher. With the same awesome ability as Togekiss, and Iron Head to exploit said ability, Jirachi can easily abuse the paraflinching nonsense. Substitute helps out with prediction of switches and such. Thunder Wave was chosen over Body Slam partially because Togekiss already has Body Slam, and partially because Jirachi is better equipped to handle Ghost types, while Togekiss is better equipped to handle Ground types. Fire Punch finishes out the coverage, hitting those who are resistant to Iron head for at least neutral damage (with the exception of Heatran). Jirachi also has great type synergy with Togekiss, taking the Rock and Ice type moves that plague Togekiss and switching out to it when the Fighting and Ground moves start coming in.
Celebi @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 232 HP / 240 SAtk / 36 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunder Wave
- Leaf Storm
- Recover
- Psychic
Celebi is also present to keep up the paralyzing. While it does miss the flinching part of paraflinch, it does have Thunder Wave, and is more than capable of taking out the Ground type pokemon that resist it. Leaf Storm is the big STAB attack of the set, Recover is some reliable recovery for the green pixie, and Psychic helps take out those fighthing types that plague many members of my team. As an added bonus, Celebi can absorb statusing moves, thanks to Natural Cure.
Heatran (M) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Stealth Rock
Heatran joins the team, creating the popular CeleTran defensive core. Heatran serves as a fire absorber, a dragon and steel killer, and a stealth rocker. Quite impressive for just one pokemon. On top of that, it packs good offensive stats, and although it's a bit on the slow side, paralysis support easily alleviates that situation.I wasn't quite sure what variety of Heatran to pick, for now I'm going with the offensive variety. Fire Blast, Earth Power, and HP Ice are all strong moves and dispatch a wide variety of pokemon, and Stealth rock is there... just to have a stealth rocker, I suppose; it's a nice little bit of damage that can give me a slight edge in a showdown.
Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hardy Nature
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Dragon Pulse
- Psychic
Ok, so for the next two pokemon, I wasn't quite sure what to do. Togekiss, Jirachi, Heatran, and Celebi work together quite well, and I didn't know what else could be added to help the awesome quartet. There was, however, a slight weakness of fighting and fire, and so Latias was picked. I've always been a fan of bulky setup sweepers because they quickly outclass their offensive counterparts. That being said, Bulky Calm Mind Latias needs to calm mind quite a bit, and in that time, the opponent can send out a counter, and Latias isn't very unpredictable. However, Latias serves as an excellent Fighting killer with the uncommon move Psychic. Dragon Pulse serves as STAB, and recover increases the longetivity of Latias.
Infernape (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Fire Punch
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
As I was looking for a good partner for Latias, I found Infernape. The type synergy between these two is impressive; Latias takes on the Water, Psychic and Ground type attacks while Infernape takes on the Ice and Dark type attacks. In addition, Infernape helps Heatran take out the steel type pokemon that resist Latias's two attacks. Swords Dance Infernape was chosen over MixApe primarily because of the high amount of special attackers on this team already and the presence of Heatran, nulling the necessity of Overheat. Grass knot is unnecessary because of Celebi, and Mach Punch was dropped because Latias can deal with Terakkion... to an extent.

So, there's my parahax team. All suggestions are welcome and will be considered, especially for the last two pokemon. I look forward to all your rates!
