Hey friends! It's been a good run, but the time has come for me to retire as Circus mod. I'll still be around, just without the title. Thank you all for making my time as mod so much fun. I figured on my way out, what better thing to do than revive Parroting with another game - it's been over 3 years!
Also known as Sheep by some, Parroting is a simple game. The aim is to match your answer with as many other players as possible without discussing anything with them, picking answers that you think everyone else will pick. There is no such thing as an incorrect answer, so if I ask "the strongest Pokemon" and everybody replies "Bananas," then that was the best parrot answer. Points are determined by how many people parroted an answer; if 13 people answered "ajhockeystar," then those 13 people get 13 points each; if 7 people answered "Rufflet" then those 7 people get 7 points each, and so on.
Questions are asked in sets of 10; after four sets I'll call the game and the person with the most points will be declared the winner. There is no talking to other players about your answers at all. People will send me their responses by PM, either here on Smogon or on Discord (I’m in the Circus Maximus discord).
If you wish to play, simply send me the answers to the first round of questions! Once you do I will put your name on the playerlist. Here's Round 1, with the category of Pokémon:
1. What's the coolest OU Dragon type?
2. Name a Gen 3 gym leader.
3. What healing item do you buy most frequently in the Pokémon games?
4. What status do you most commonly try to inflict in battle?
5. Name a multi-hit move.
6. What Pokémon benefits most from Booster Energy?
7. What's the most useful super-effective damage reducing berry?
8. What's the coolest signature ability?
9. Name a Pokémon based on a bear.
10. What style of team do you usually build: Hyper Offense, Bulky Offense, Balance, or Stall?
The deadline for the first round will be July 12th at 6pm EDT, unless I don't get enough answers. Please spread the word, it's a low commitment game and it'd be a lot of fun to make this game a huge one. As a reminder, you simply can send me your Round 1 answers on Discord or Smogon to sign up. And remember, no discussing answers with anyone else!
I will be carrying on the change to the rules from last time: It’s more fun if the game is played organically, so if I see anyone trying to submit “non-real” answers that they want others to piggyback off of, I’ll disallow the submission. For example, submitting “Bananas” for everything with the hope that everyone will answer “Bananas” for all their Round 2 answers takes away from the spirit of the game imo.
