Hello everyone, i am relatively new to showdown.
My favourite playstyle is hyperoffence as quick battles with a fast pace are the ones i enjoy the most so i decided to make a relatively fast paced team in which i baton pass to metagross. Anyway lets get to it.
Team building process
Scollipede was the starter of my team with great passing abilities and swords dance i thought i could use it to capitalise on the offensive capabilities of a sweeper.
Mega Metagross seemed like a huge threat which would be able to capitalise on the offensive boost which scollipede would give it.
Azumarill was added as a nice lead for the team along with bieng a mon which really appreciates the speed boost scolipede could give it if it didn't manage to get a swords dance.
Landorus-T was added as a nice revenge killer with his great speed and attack along with his large capability to scout using U-turn.
Wobuffet was added as a nice counter to most things which don't usually set up and have predictable sets which don't have a move which can KO wobuffet. The most notable of these mons is Mega-Loppuny who I have managed to defeat multiple times by switching in wob on a fake out and then using counter.
Terrakion was an addition who could also sweep and with justified could switch in on any dark attacks meant for wobbuffet and use his boosted attack to deal good damage on the opponents pokemon.
I guess you could call this version 1 of the team.
The team basically lost to most teams which had a strong earthquake user or ice type moves. Due to this I thought i should get rid of one of my ice weaknesses and get a special sweeper in who didn't really need a boost from scollipede... so i thought that a life orb gengar would be a nice mon to have due to his immunity to earthquake and nice speed and special attack stats.
The team was now stronger but with the lack of a stong fire move, scizor and ferrothorn were hard to kill enemies. Fairies were also a large problem for me as they had the capability to beat me relatively easily as I had nothing that could hit them. Charizard-X was also a problem for me who could be defeated much more easily if i could get rocks up. I thought Rocks, Fire and Steel/Poison what mon could do all of that well?, I remembered that heatran existed and decided that a leftovers variant with rocks, flash cannon and magma storm would work very well with my team.
The Team
Scolipede @ Sitrus berry Black Sludge
Ability: Speed boost
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Nature: Impish
Moves: Substitute, Protect, Swords Dance, Baton Pass
Say hello to the stagemanager of the team. He does the backstage work which leads to making my star actor a smash hit. With protect and substitute I know that I can under almost all conditions get at least speed. If I only manage to get speed then I think about if I could get a sub up and pass it. If so I try and then pass to Azumarill if not Azumarill has enough bulk to deal with most of the stuff used on Scolipede. If I do manage to get a swords dance or two up then Mega Metagross is all I should need to clean up the enemy team.
Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body / Tough Claws
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Nature: Adamant
Moves: Meteor Mash, Zen Headbutt, Hammer Arm, Bullet Punch/Grass Knot/Ice Punch
This is just a massive threat to all kinds of teams right now. It's beaten by a few mons such as Skarmory, Bronzong and Mega Scizor which are smashed by both Heatran. Everything else is picked apart by Tough Claws Meteor Mash and Zen Headbutt after Hammer Arm eliminates Heatran, Bisharp and Ferrothorn. Bullet punch is quite important as it OHKOs scarf Lan-t after taking a Meteor Mash (yay Clear Body!) and also revenges Mega Altaria which threatens this team at +1. Grass Knot can be run to hit Slowbro, Quagsire and other bulky waters. Ice punch is really useful as it means i can take out a lot of the things that can and will try to earthquake me.
EVs are made so he can take a hit when I baton pass to him and not much speed because when this guy is at X3 speed he dosen't really need it.
Azumarill @ Sitrus berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Nature: Adamant
Moves: Belly Drum, Play Rough, Return, Aqua Jet
I think that Azumarill is great but sometimes hard to use due to the frequency of Ferrothorn. The EVs and moves are standard. Belly drum to power up and then lead into a Aqua Jet rampage or if I am against the slower bulkier things in the tier I can X4 Return or Play Rough both of which hurt a lot.
Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 24 HP / 248 Atk / 236 Spe
Nature: Jolly
Moves: Earthquake, Knock off, U-turn, Stone Edge
Landorus-T does a lot for this team as a revenge killer who can also scout very well. One of his best features on this set is that he can out speed and OHKO gengar. Scarf Landorus also an extremely solid pokemon who fits on most teams. With Intimidate and great coverage he can check a lot of mons. It just keeps up momentum for my team as well as revenge killing the stuff I need to revenge. The moveset is 100% standard and need no explanation except that i run knock off over superpower, this is because I don't need superpower on my landorus, and knock off is just too good for a move to give up.
The EVs are something someone recommended to me but I have completely forgotten why i use them now.
Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
Moves:Thunder Bolt Focus Blast, Shadow Ball, Destiny Bond, Sludge Wave
Destiny Bond lets Gengar take on a role of an all out attacker scoring KOs with pure power then taking down a defensive check it can not muscle past with it. Destiny Bond also provides insurance against Sucker Punch users as per turn order, Gengar will move after their Sucker Punch, it will fail, and next turn they will be trapped in a Destiny Bond next turn ensuring at least a trade of pokemon. Shadow Ball is a choice STAB, it has good base power, however the amount of types it hits neutrally is fantastic, as well as the resistances to it uncommon. Sludge Wave despite poor neutral coverage has the most power of any of Gengar's STAB, and thus it does the most raw damage to a neutral target and it has the utility of getting rid of Fairy-types. Thunderbolt deserves recognition as being capable of 2HKOing Manddibuzz who can sometimes tank 2 Sludge Waves, it is also valuable for doing the most damage agaisnt various targets weak to it such as a Gyarados, Azumarill and Keldeo.
Heatran @ Leftovers Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 184 HP / 252 SpA / 72 SpD
Nature: Modest
Moves: Earth Power,Magma Storm Fire Blast, Stealth Rocks, Flash Cannon
Heatran is a great mon. It fits in great with my team setting up rocks and killing most ferrothorn and Scizors. Heatrans flash cannon can also deal with most fairies and his earth power usually kills other heatrans and can also damage most other things in the meta quite a bit. The spread allows me to capitalise on power and bulk although I lose some of that all important speed.
