Wellspring Webs







1. Introduction
This team came together by mixing a few ideas from Mada's Tera Blast Ghost Dragonite team, and a team I used for the Roaring Moon suspect test. The two main highlights of the team are Adamant Ogerpon-Wellspring, which was a big winner of the Roaring Moon ban in my opinion, and Scale Shot + Fire Punch Dragonite which is one of Dragonite's sets that fits well on Webs without being a tera hog. Just as in my previous RMT, while the peak is okay, I am moreso glad I was able to perform well with the team while only making small tweaks for about a month, sitting with two accounts at 2k+ for the last couple of weeks. I like consistent teams and while I got a lot of losses, I was always glad to feel they came down to bad plays on my part rather than a very rough matchup.

Max Defense Araquanid is a favorite of mine. This team can handle Raging Bolt with Scale Shot Dragonite, so I am not as inclined to run a specially defensive spread. I opted for Surf over Liquidation this time as it still hits OHKOs no bulk Great Tusk. The lack of Speed IVs let Araquanid underspeed Garganacl and Toxapex so that they dont Recover after you Endeavor them while fainting from Toxic or Salt Cure; furthermore, it makes Araquanid outspeed Kingambit and Ursaluna under Trick Room.

Max Defense Araquanid is a favorite of mine. This team can handle Raging Bolt with Scale Shot Dragonite, so I am not as inclined to run a specially defensive spread. Strong guy that can setup but also provides instant power due to just how natural strong it and its STAB moves are. An Adamant nature lets Wellspring always OHKO Weezing-G after a Swords Dance and Tera Water, which in turn opens up the game into balance and stall, as balance will have a harder time dealing with Dragonite, while stall will likely be forced to terastallize Dondozo, in turn opening up Gholdengo even more. Wellspring and Dragonite can weaken Pecharunt for the other to take advantage of.

Dragonite is our webs immune, Wellspring check, and with Tera Fire it becomes immune to Will-O-Wisp from Dragapult, Darkrai, Cinderace, and particularly Moltres. A Jolly nature lets it outspeed Zamazenta and Dragapult after a Dragon Dance. The main benefit of this set over others is that it doesnt need to burn Tera as often as STAB Scale Shot gives it raw power and doesnt restrict it to run Tera Blast. As mentioned before, Dragonite helps Wellspring in the effort to weaken Pecharunt for one another.

Instant power thanks to Special Attack Booster Energy. Even with Roaring Moon gone, Dazzling Gleam is still a great option to hit Dragapult, as well as Kyurem, Raging Bolt, and Dragonite for a bit more if needed. With Garganacl everywhere I felt that Energy Ball was needed, and its also nice into Alomomola, and does a bit more to Ting-Lu, Dondozo, and Glimmora. This is also our Toxic Spikes absorber, which feels important as I found Wellspring to usually be the one dealing with Glimmora.

Very important as it is our hazard removal to make sure Dragonite and Iron Moth stay healthy, our Ground to check Raging Bolt, and our Kingambit check. I decided to use Great Tusk as a wincon with Bulk Up rather than as a breaker as usually seen in Webs. With Gholdengo resisting Dragon Darts and Dragonite tanking one Tera Blast Ghost, Bulk Up Great Tusk gives me enough tools to deal with Choice Band Dragapult without having to use Kingambit or Fairy-types. Tera Fire gives Great Tusk a Fairy, Grass, and Ice resist, as well as an immunity to Will-O-Wisp, notably from Dragapult. It may also at times let last mon Great Tusk setup in front of Moltres and win.

With Roaring Moon gone, Focus Blast can be used over Dazzling Gleam; it OHKOs Kingambit, Darkrai and Samurott-Hisui, does way more damage to Ting-Lu, Tera Dark Blissey, and even Garganacl which may sometimes be annoying if running Dazzling Gleam. Focus Blast also threatens Heatran, which I found a fair bit of the last few weeks and completely walls Iron Moth.

3. Usage suggestions


This is one of the fastest Sticky Webs teams, as it doesnt have a Kingambit, Raging Bolt, nor a Modest Iron Valiant or Enamorus, and even has Proto Speed Great Tusk. As such, you can feel okay in the matchups where you might struggle to put Webs up. Araquanid has some decent qualities on its own, as it can check Cinderace itself for example.

Leading Dragonite against Raging Bolt teams is usually okay. If they lead something else like a Deoxys or Ting-Lu, you can just go into Araquanid right away.

Choice Scarf Tera Flying can be somewhat annoying as it outspeeds Great Tusk, and it threatens the other members of the team. Just be careful around it and be ready to have to trade a Pokemon for chip, dont let it break Gholdengo's balloon for free, and avoid letting it spam U-turn. Keep in mind max Defense Araquanid is very likely to tank a Tera Blast Flying from Choice Scarf variants.



For special sweepers that try to take advantage of lead Araquanid, remember you have Wellspring and Encore Dragonite, dont just let them get to +6.

Dont let it get to +2. While the only check is Great Tusk, the other Pokemon threaten it quite a bit, so it will only be problematic if you play scared against it. Remember you have Encore Dragonite, and Tera Fairy Iron Moth or Tera Fighting Gholdengo for emergencies.
