[SET COMMENTS]

Physical Clangorous Soul Kommo-o is a dangerous win condition capable of boosting multiple times thanks to bolstering its already impressive stats in conjunction with the increased healing output of Drain Punch to offset the exchange of health loss upon using Clangorous Soul. Poison Jab provides Kommo-o with the means to better deal with Azumarill, Enamorous-T, and Hydrapple. It is also the best neutral coverage to punish common Fighting resists like Zapdos, Skeledirge, and Latios with poison, though be wary of being inflicted by paralysis from Zapdos's Static. Tera Electric can be used to remove the ability to be crippled by Static as well as allow Kommo-o to use Zapdos and Tornadus-T as set-up opportunities. Thunder Punch is an alternative option that gets a boost from Tera Electric to nail Slowking and Toxapex while retaining coverage for the aforementioned Fairy-types. However, it will drastically worsen Kommo-o's matchup against Latios. Substitute provides Kommo-o with more chances to set up multiple Clangorous Soul's safely and can do so against common Pokemon like Tyranitar and Zarude. Substitute also has the benefit of preventing common status users like Mandibuzz, Slowking, and Rotom-W from punishing it, and in turn, Kommo-o can guarantee a boost with the safety net of Substitute, preventing revenge killers like Scizor and Choice Scarf Latios easily picking it off. Leftovers is the preferred item for improved longevity as Kommo-o consistently lowers its health between Clangorous Soul and Substitute. Soundproof is the primary ability choice to improve the matchups against special Kommo-o, Skeledirge, and Psychic Noise Iron Crown. An Adamant nature is preferred to 2HKO Hydrapple with Poison Jab after a boost and OHKO Azumarill at +1 after Stealth Rock. Jolly can be used to outspeed Adamant Lokix and Speed tie with opposing offensive Kommo-o; however, this set lacks the immediate power to threaten them hard enough. Tera Steel is an option that flips the matchup against Latios and Hydrapple. It also prevents Mamoswine and Scizor from revenge killing Kommo-o with their strong priority; however, the downside of being punished by Zapdos is far too detrimental.

Kommo-o fits best on offensive teams that can pave the way for Kommo-o to sweep. Common fighting resists like Zapdos, Tornadus-T, and Skeledirge are a large hurdle for Kommo-o as it is reliant on Terastilization or a poison from Poison Jab to beat most of them. Rhyperior is a fantastic defensive check to the Flying-types while Arcanine-H can offensively pressure them and more reliably pivot into Skeledirge without much fear. Both are also great Stealth Rock setters helping wear down Pokemon like Azumarill and Latios into range. Other powerful wallbreakers like Mamoswine, Greninja, and Ogerpon-C are also capable of applying pressure onto the aforementioned Fighting resists. Ogerpon-C in particular shares many common checks such as Hydrapple, Tinkaton, and Metagross so can force them into KO range for Kommo-o. Toxapex, Okidogi, and Pecharunt are bulky physical walls that resist the combination of Kommo-o's coverage, the former having Haze to bypass Substitute, and the latter two being able to boost alongside Kommo-o and 1vs1 it. Partners like Excadrill, Thundurus-T, and Iron Crown can offensively pressure these Poison-types, the former also providing Rapid Spin support to prevent Kommo-o from being worn down by hazards. Grimmsnarl can provide dual screens to help Kommo-o more easily set up against Pokemon such as Keldeo and Iron Crown, notably making it so they cannot break its Substitute after a Clangorous Soul.
