MACHOKE
[SET]
name: Physically Defensive
move 1: Dynamic Punch
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Rest
move 4: Sleep Talk
item: Eviolite
ability: No Guard
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Physically defensive Machoke differentiates itself from other walls like Gurdurr and Clefairy thanks to Dynamic Punch allowing it to greatly pressure foes and switch-ins. Knock Off enables it to pressure Pokemon that resist or are immune to Dynamic Punch such as Duosion, Hattrem, and Lampent and remove opposing Eviolites, making Dynamic Punch a much scarier move to switch into. Rest gives Machoke better longevity and reliability in checking physical wallbreakers like Raboot, Thwackey, and Piloswine. Sleep Talk notably provides extra Dynamic Punch PP. This set can opt for 44 Speed EVs to outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon like Metang, Piloswine, and Marshtomp.

Machoke can be used early- and mid-game to heavily pressure the opponent's team with Knock Off and Dynamic Punch's confusion. Machoke should only be brought in against physical threats it can take multiple hits from, like Raboot, Thwackey, Galarian Linoone, and Combusken, as being quickly forced to use Rest and Sleep Talk gives foes chances to set up. Because Machoke has trouble staying in on special attacks, walls like Klang, Mareanie, and Clefairy make for good teammates. Special attackers like Duosion, Gastly, and Galarian Mr. Mime greatly benefit from Machoke's Knock Off support and ability to deal with Steel-types in Klang and Ferroseed. In return, these Pokemon can better pressure Poison- and Fighting-types like Mareanie, Golbat, and Gurdurr, which can slow Machoke down.

Guts + Flame Orb sets are very usable, but offensive No Guard sets struggle with the dominance of Will-O-Wisp and Toxic Spikes in the metagame. A Bulk Up set with either Substitute or Encore makes for a decent stallbreaker. Encore in particular deals with setup users sweepers like Duosion, which sometimes uses Acid Armor to set up on Machoke.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Physical Walls**: Common physical walls in Tangela, Golbat, and Koffing make for great switch-ins to Machoke, and they even have an edge against Flame Orb variants thanks to Tangela and Golbat outspeeding it and Koffing carrying Neutralizing Gas.

**Psychic-types**: Faster Psychic-types like Galarian Mr. Mime and Abra make for good revenge killers against Machoke but could succumb to Bullet Punch from offensive sets if they are too weakened. Hattrem and Slowpoke check defensive and all-out attacker sets but should watch out for Machoke's Flame Orb set.

**Fairy-types**: Clefairy and Togetic sponge Machoke's Close Combat and Knock Off while striking back with their STAB moves. However, they worry about switching into Heavy Slam from offensive sets.

**Faster Wallbreakers**: Machoke has a poor Speed tier, allowing common wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Magmar, Choice Band Thwackey, and Rufflet to revenge kill it with little to no prior chip damage.

Physically defensive Machoke differentiates itself from other walls like Gurdurr and Clefairy thanks to Dynamic Punch allowing it to greatly pressure foes and switch-ins. Knock Off enables it to pressure Psychic-type (also mention Ghost-types like Lampent and Gastly, which are immune to Dynamic Punch but are 2HKO and OHKO respectively by Knock Off) that resist Dynamic Punch such as Duosion and Hattrem, on top of removing opposing Eviolite, making Dynamic Punch a much scarier move to switch into. Machoke can recover its lost health through Rest, giving it better longevity and reliability in checking physical wallbreakers like Raboot, Thwackey, and Piloswine, while Sleep Talk ensures that Machoke isn't completely passive when asleep, on top of providing extra Dynamic Punch pp PP. Alternatively, this set can opt for 44 Speed EVS to outspeed base 50 Speed tiers counting Pokemon like Metang, Piloswine, and Marshtomp.

Machoke can be used early and mid-game to heavily pressure the opponent's team in knocking out opposing Eviolite and playing with hax through confusion. As a physical wall Machoke should only be brought when facing threats it can handle damage from like the aforementioned ones, Galarian Linoone, and Combusken. Machoke has mediocre special bulk so specially defensive walls like Klang, Mareanie, and Clefairy make for good teammates. (Added this since in the previous sentence you mention it should only be switched in to physical attackers so this was a logical follow-up) Special attackers like Kadabra, Gastly and Galarian Mr. Mime greatly benefit from Machoke's Knock Off support and ability to deal with Steel-types in Klang and Ferroseed. In return these Pokemon can better pressure Poison- and Fighting-types like Mareanie, Golbat, and Gurdurr who can slow down Machoke's momentum and effectiveness.

Offensive No Guard sets also have merit, but are mostly inferior to the consistency that Guts offer as Will-O-Wisp and Toxic Spikes are predominant status moves in the metagame. Setup sets with Bulk Up and either Substitute or Encore make for a decent stallbreaker against bulkier teams. Encore especially deals well with setup users like Duosion who sometimes impose themselves on Machoke after an Acid Armor boost.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Physical Walls**: Common physical walls in Tangela, Golbat, and Koffing make for great switch-ins to Machoke, and even have an edge against Flame Orb variants thanks to either their better Speed for the first two, or ability in Neutralizing Gas for Koffing.

**Psychic Types**: Faster Psychic-types like Kadabra and Galarian Mr. Mime make for good revenge killers against Machoke, but could succumb to Bullet Punch if they are too hurt. Slower examples in Hattrem and Slowpoke check all-out attacker sets, but should watch out for Machoke's Flame Orb set.

**Fairy Types**: Clefairy and Togetic resist Machoke's most common coverage, making them sponge its Close Combat and Knock Off attempts while striking back with their STAB. However, they worry about switching into Heavy Slam.

**Faster Wallbreakers** Machoke has a poor Speed tier, allowing common wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Roseila (Roselia isn't really common let alone a Choice Specs set on it. It's better to use another special attacker like Tangela or Specs Magmar etc. if you're saying they're common or at least remove the word common and rearrange Roselia to last in this list since it's the least common/lowest on VR of the 3), Choice Band Thwackey, and Rufflet to revenge kill it with little to no prior chip damage.

Machoke can be used early- and mid-game to heavily pressure the opponent's team in knocking out opposing Eviolite and playing with hax through confusion with Knock Off and confusion support (this is what you mean I'm assuming, and besides being more concise, lumping these two together as "support" gets to the heart of how to use Machoke). As a physical wall Machoke should only be brought when facing threats it can handle damage from like the aforementioned ones, Galarian Linoone, and Combusken (This point is a little obvious. It be more of a usage tip if you redirected it to answering "why" it should be choosey when switching in. The concern here is being forced to Rest and use Sleep Talk, since it may give setup opportunities for Thwackey and Combusken). Because Machoke has trouble staying in on special attacks, (add comma) having specially defensive walls like Klang, Mareanie, and Clefairy make for good teammates. Special attackers like Kadabra, Gastly, and Galarian Mr. Mime greatly benefit from Machoke's Knock Off support and ability to deal with Steel-types in Klang and Ferroseed. QC 2/2, looks great! Content was spot on, and I only suggested small changes for clarity and GP.
