Numel @ Eviolite
Ability: Simple
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 18 Spe
- Protect
- Yawn
- Stockpile
- Roar

Don't be fooled by appearances, no straw can break this camel's back! In Partners in Crime, the doubles format where active Pokemon share their abilities and moves between each other, Numel has one job: to pass the Simple ability to setup sweepers, doubling their stat boosts. Protect allows allies and itself like Ogerpon-W without Spiky Shield and Volcarona to be safe for a turn, Yawn forces out foes and allows Numel or its ally to fish for more boosts, and Stockpile allows Numel or its teammate to double their defenses, making them that much harder to remove. Finally, Roar is used to deny opposing setup and Trick Room. 18 Speed IVs are used to underspeed minimum Speed Ursaluna, Iron Hands, and Kingambit, allowing Numel to move first against common Trick Room attackers. Numel is entirely a support player: it's only here to turn powerful setup sweepers like Volcarona, Ogerpon-H, and Kommo-o into unstoppable threats! Simple might be a broken setup ability, but it also greatly worsens your team's matchup against Intimidate users like Incineroar and Landorus-T and Snarl users like Ting-Lu and Archaludon; deterrents to these like Milotic, Galarian Zapdos, and Kingambit are must-haves.

In Partners in Crime, the doubles format where active Pokémon share their abilities and moves between each other, Numel has one job: to pass the Simple ability to setup sweepers, doubling their stat boosts. Protect allows allies and itself like Ogerpon-W without Spiky Shield and Volcarona to keep themselves be safe for a turn (since yk Numel has the bulk of a priceless ming vase), Yawn forces out foes and allows Numel or its ally to fish for more boosts, and Stockpile allows Numel or its teammate to double their defenses, making them that much harder to remove. Finally, Roar is used to deny opposing setup and Trick Room. 18 Speed IVs are used to underspeed minimum Speed Ursaluna, Iron Hands, and Kingambit, allowing Numel to move first in against common Trick Room attackers. Numel is entirely a support player: it's only here to turn powerful setup sweepers like Volcarona, Ursaluna-Bloodmoon Ogerpon-Hearthflame, and Gholdengo Kommo-o (Gholdengo is a weird pick bc of Make it Rain, I suppose you can argue Kommo-o is equally weird but simple Clangsoul, amirite?) into unstoppable threats! Numel should also be paired with Baton Pass users like Alolan Ninetales and Latias Meowstic-M (Personal opinion but Baton Pass users that are not war crimes ostrich (Espathra) are hard to come by, but I think this is the least sucky baton pass user that is a good utility pair), as they allow it to directly pass any boosts it acquires to a teammate like Ogerpon-W, Chien-Pao (RC) Stored Power Latias or Gholdengo.
