Overview
########
+125 Attack is pretty threatening especially with it's access to swords dance.
+65/100/70 is decent for an offensive mon.
+It destroys bulky teams like bulky offense and stall along with regen cores which are all relevant in RU
+Has access to important coverage in earthquake and stone edge to help back up bug stab
+2 usable abilities albeit very situational ones at that.
+Preys on bulky psychics which are very common in RU.
-Faces a ton of competition from Durant and is almost completely outclassed by it.
-It's base 85 speed falls short of the 90s speed tier which is a pretty important speed tier to outspeed
-Bug typing isn't the best typing as it's stab has 7 resists and pinsir doesn't have many resists and nasty weaknesses.
-Due to it's somewhat lacking base 85 speed it doesn't have a good time vs Hyper offense.

  • Swords dance takes the first move pumping pinsir's attack to aid it in beating slower teams.
  • Substitute protects from statuses to activate salac berry easier
  • X-scissor is the mandatory bug stab that hits rather hard after SD
  • Earthquake gives the best 2 move coverage possible hitting multiple bug resists
Set Details

  • The given ev spread is to give a salac berry number and prevents alomomola from breaking the sub.
  • Salac berry gives a speed boost when at 25% HP and helps patch up pinsir's speed when eaten
  • Moxie helps for when grabbing an SD isn't an option.
  • Jolly or Adamant is the age old power vs speed argument. Jolly does outpace adamant lee but adamant does provide a noticeable power buff as shown below.
  • +2 252 Atk Life Orb Mold Breaker Pinsir Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Steelix: 265-312 (74.8 - 88.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Usage Tips
========

  • On predicted switches subbing is a safe play as it eases prediction but it might be better to hard switch as sub+hazards means pinsir will be worn down super fast.
  • Setting up a swords dance isn't too hard vs stall but against offense sub until salac activates as it gives pinsir the much needed speed boost.
  • Only set up when checks and counters are cleared.

Team Options
========

  • Durant forms a double bug core and since both share similar checks and counters one of them can wallbreak for each other so one of them can sweep.
  • Hazard removal is pretty important so hitmonlee can work but does make you weaker to fletchinder so consider kabutops.
  • Hazard support is highly appreciated as it allows you to get important kills that you wouldn't achieve otherwise so for hazards consider qwilfish,garbador,support cobalion,mega lix and rhyperior are all solid choices for this.

  • **Bulky ghosts**: Of all answers to pinsir these are the best ones but some of them such as cofagrigus are prone to being worn down rather fast.
  • **Bulky steels**: Other good answers to it but a +2 earthquake will hurt, also most bulky steels lack recovery.
  • **Bulky Fairies**: These work but aromatisse is outrun and 2hkod by eq and can only 2hko pinsir shortening it's sweep. Mega audino fares better but pinsir can boost faster then crodino so keep that in mind.
  • **Hyper offense builds**: This is the easiest way to beat pinsir. Considering pinsir has a poor matchup vs hyper offense this is an easy way to beat it but you might have to sack something.

yo. so i get this is a wip, but this is a pokemon that is super outclassed by durant in so many regards, and after a quick discussion, some qc members feel a subsd set to be the only one that is not outclassed. it'd look something like this:

this takes advantage of two major things pinsir has over durant: earthquake, which helps it push through relevant poisons (moreso qwilfish, since garbodor doesn't actively respond to durant, but both pick up layers v.it), and extra special defense, specifically enough that it's substitutes can avoid being broken by alomomola's scald, which durant cannot manage.

more 'standard' sd sets are a bit too slow and without solid bulk / typing to pull much off, and sash sets are pretty much outclassed in the current meta =/

49 made all changes and made the Sub+ SD set the only set
