Hello everyone! This is a team I made with Victini and Manaphy and it's probably been my best team so far in terms of performance, getting me around 1460 at one point (which isn't much, I know, but it's the highest I've been in OU).
Team Building Process:
This team actually didn't start with Manaphy or Victini, but rather with Tentacruel. Offensive Tentacruel was a set I'd been running in UU and it'd been fun and quite useful so far, so I decided to try it in OU.
I decided to add Banded Victini, because Tentacruel is not very strong at all and cleans up games rather than sweep through teams. Victini is a great wallbreaker with an alright Base 100 Attack, a Choice Band and a Base 180 Power move in V-Create.
I added Ferrothorn to complete my FWG core as well as give me access to Rocks and give me some Speed Control with T-Wave, which is very useful with both of the previous Pokémon only having Base 100 Speed.
I then added Latios to give me some extra Speed, Hazard Removal, as well as just a very powerful Pokémon overall.
I added Lando-T to give me a scarfer, a 2nd U-Turner to keep up momentum, some nice utility in Knock Off, a great STAB in EQ and a good way to kill Talon with Stone Edge.
The last addition was Mega Manectric to give me a third Volt-Turner as well as a good Pokémon to sweep with late-game. Overheat and HP Ice also gave me better ways to deal with Ferrothorn and Lando-T/Chomp respectively if predicted right.
Finally I ended up replacing Cruel with Manaphy. I went with a PhysDef CM Set, as that fit best on my team in my opinion. It takes hits and sets up, letting me beat mons like Drum Azu and Tran decently well.
THE TEAM:
scaldscaldscald (Manaphy) @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 240 HP / 180 Def / 88 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Calm Mind
- Rain Dance
- Energy Ball
Manaphy here is running enough SpA to do over 75% at least to standard Drum Azu at +1, preventing the Drum. I'm not running Rest because I felt Energy Ball was needed to better take on things like Rotom, Azu, etc. Rain Dance not only powers up Scald, it also heals me from possible Toxics/Lava Plume Burns from Tran, Scald Burns from other Pokémon, amongst other things. Calm Mind is there to boost both of my Special Stats, making Manaphy very scary.
VICTORY SCREECH (Victini) @ Choice Band
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- U-turn
- Zen Headbutt
Victini is the main Wallbreaker of the team, doing incredibly damage with V-Create. Bolt Strike is mainly there to hit Water types and U-Turn is there because it gives me a lot of momentum as Victini forces many switches. Zen Headbutt is mainly filler, but it's there in case I need to do STAB Damage but I don't wanna click V-Create because of the Stat Drops, a possible Tran in the back, etc.
touch me daddy (Ferrothorn) @ Chople Berry
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 88 Def / 172 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Thunder Wave
Ferro here is my Rocks setter, gives me some Speed control with T-Wave, restores its HP with Leech Seed and deals some Damage with Gyro Ball. I originally ran Lefties on here but I replaced it with Chople upon noticing I was quite weak to things like Mega Lop. This allows me to take an HJK and T-Wave it or get off a ton of Damage with Gyro Ball.
drop a draco (Latios) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic
- Defog
- Recover
Latios is my Hazard Control with Defog. I'm running Psychic over Psyshock to hit things like Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss harder and things like Chansey aren't giant threats to me. I have Recover to regain my health (can someone tell me why Roost is usually run over Recover?) and Draco is there to just do a lot of Damage if needed.
furry (Landorus-Therian) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 8 HP / 252 Atk / 248 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge
Landorus is a very nice Pokémon to have on this team. I don't usually like it as much, but it works well here to outspeed Megas, kill things with its high Attack Stat and overall good moves. It has good utility and it gives me momentum with U-Turn.
usain t-bolt (Manectric-Mega) @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Overheat
Lastly we have Manectric, which is my main late-game cleaner. It lets me deal with pretty much everything but Water/Ground types as long as I outspeed if the opponent's Pokémon are damaged enough. I'm running Overheat over Flamethrower even though I don't like the -2 SpA things, but it's needed for things like SpDef. Ferro.
THREATLIST
Mega Heracross
This Pokémon is extremely scary. My only reliable ways of hitting it hard are through Manectric, Victini and Latios, none of which can switch in safely. My only Pokémon that can actually take a CC are Ferrothorn because of the Chople Berry (which proceeds to let me hit it hard with a Gyro), Latios (which dies to Pin Missile if my opponent predicts the switchin) and Landorus (which is easily widdled down because I'm not running Lefties).
Mega Charizard X
If this thing sets up, there's little I can do, since it will outspeed my whole team. Manaphy can take a hit, but won't be able to KO it back. I can not let this set up, otherwise I pretty much lose.
Keldeo
Really, any set but Scarf can give me quite some trouble. If a Specs one predicts the switchin to Lati, I take an Icy Wind and take 60%. I can switch out and deal with it with Ferro, but Latios can no longer switch in to this, especially if Rocks are up.
Kyurem-B
Any set can give me trouble. I have little to switch into an Ice Beam and Ice Beam/Fusion Bolt/Earth Power hits all my Pokémon except Ferrothorn Super Effectively. I have to wear it down with LO and not let it Roost or make sure I never have the wrong Pokémon in against a Scarf one.
Mega Sableye
Sableye is put here because I have an incredibly hard time breaking it. I could just put Stall here because I can not beat it if Manaphy is too damaged, but Sableye is the main threat, especially if it has Calm Mind, because it pretty much beats my team.
Weavile
Weavile´s STAB moves hit all of my Pokémon very hard and I can only deal with it with Ferrothorn and if that gets too damaged, I can do very little except wear it down through LO damage and Intimidate it with Lando/Mane.
Speed Pass (Scolipede)
If Scolipede passes some Speed Boosts to i.e. a Manaphy and it sets up a Tail Glow, there's really nothing I can do. I have to play around this thing perfectly to win.
Suicune (and other CM-ers)
I can't take this Pokémon on aside from hitting it with a Fusion Bolt and live a Scald or boost alongside it with Manaphy. If that does happen, I pretty much have to crit it with Energy Ball.
That's pretty much all for my team, I hope you enjoyed reading and please leave feedback :]
