Other Metagames Pixie Power: A Fairy Monotype Team

Hello. My name is Epic_Mewtwo, and was my first monotype team: Pixie Power. I have been using this team since I started Monotype and I think it’s time I got some opinion on it ;)

The Team

gardevoir-mega.png

Gardevoir-Mega (Titania) @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Pixilate (Synchronize before evolving)
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Energy Ball
- Psychic
- Hidden Power Fire

Titania is my team’s mega and in most games is the difference between winning and losing. Maximum Special Attack and Speed allows Gardevoir to deal maximum damage.
You may notice that Gardevoir’s ability is Synchronize before Mega Evolving. I have this ability instead of Trace because it punishes status users hard and I just think that there's no point in Trace as Gardevoir loses it when it Mega Evolves anyway.
Hyper Voice is STAB and Pixilate boosted, and can hit opponents very hard even when it does neutral damage. Psychic is also STAB. Energy Ball and HP Fire are for coverage. With these moves, Gardevoir can hit 11 types super-effectively.
However, Gardevoir defenses are absolute s**t, and I have play very carefully to ensure that it doesn’t die. Gardevoir can also struggle against Pokemon that are faster than it, however I did come up with a form of speed control to deal with it.

sylveon.png

Sylveon (Ribbon) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Heal Bell
- Toxic
- Psyshock

Ribbon the Sylveon may look the same as Gardevoir, but they are completely different. At first, I used it as a bulky mon for Heal Bell and Toxic, but now I have been sweeping with it, as I recently swept a Poison team with Psyshock.
Hyper Voice is STAB and Pixilate boosted, and although it hits hard, it does not hurt as much as one from Gardevoir. Heal Bell can heal of status and Toxic adds it on. Psyshock is for the poison types.
The annoying thing about Sylveon is the fact that it is choiced, and if I go for Heal Bell or Toxic I have to switch out, but apart from that, it’s a good mon and it really helps my team.

togekiss.png

Togekiss (THE HAX GOD) @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spa/252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Air Slash
- Thunder Wave
- Aura Sphere
- Roost

The one and only hax god. Air Slashes and flinching for days.
Air Slash is for flinching opponents over and over again and the endless lols. Thunder Wave is for paralyzing and more lols. Aura Sphere is surprising coverage and hits those steels. Roost is for being a troll and healing up.
The only bad thing about Togekiss is that it’s Life Orb (I tried Choice Scarf but it didn’t work out: Togekiss can’t Roost or Aura Sphere when needed). It takes damage over time and that’s usually how it dies.

azumarill.png

Azumarill (Nexus) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Superpower
- Waterfall
- Ice Fang
- Play Rough

Azumarill is my team’s only physical attacker. Huge Power + max Attack + a lot of coverage moves makes for one terrifying Pokemon.
Superpower is for steel coverage and it is the only way to deal with the biggest threat to my team (I’ll get to that later). Waterfall and Play Rough is STAB and Ice Punch is for coverage.
Expert Belt may seem like a strange item, and I did make this team while I was a noob. However, it does gives extra power to my coverage moves.

clefable.png

Clefable (Annoying Turd) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVS: 248 Def/8 SpA/252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Soft-Boiled
- Moonblast
- Calm Mind
- Toxic

Clefable’s name sums it up: it is one annoying turd.
Soft-Boiled is to heal up and be annoying. Calm Mind is to set up and be annoying. Moonblast is the only move that benefits from Calm Mind, but it has a lot of power. Toxic is to be annoying.
Magic Guard allows Clefable to laugh in the face of Toxic and Will-o-Wisp. However, it does hate paralysis.

klefki.png

Klefki (Key to Winning) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 108 HP/200 Def/200 SpD
Bold Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Spikes
- Reflect
- Light Screen

Kelfki is literally the Key to Winning. This is because of Thunder Wave. Prankster Thunder Wave allows Klefki to slow down the opposing team’s fastest threats, allowing Mega Gardevoir to sweep at the end.
Spikes are for hazard stacking. Three layers can turn a game around. The dual screens reduce damage from super effective attacks and other attacks in general. A well-timed Light Screen can allow Mega Gardevoir to safely switch in and sweep.
The problem with Klefki is that it gets worn down easily, with no realiable recovery outside of Leftovers. However, Poison Immunity is vital on a team that is weak to Poison. It also HATES taunt, and it forces a switch, as all it can do is Struggle.

Pokemon my team hates:

bisharp.png

Bisharp is the only reason my team can’t destroy Dark teams. The only thing that can OHKO Bisharp is a Superpower from Azumarill, but even then it has to take an Iron Head and lose 50 to 60% of its health first. It outspeeds everything on my team except the Mega Gardevoir. If not for Superpower, my team would lose every time to a mono Dark team.

gengar.png

Gengar is another problem Pokemon. A max speed Gengar outspeeds even Mega Gardevoir and Sludge Wave hits everything on my team hard except for Klefki, which it can just Shadow Ball to death. Thunder Wave is very Important as a Hyper Voice can easily kill a paralyzed Gengar afterwards.

heatran.png

Heatran just laughs at everything I have. Even a STAB Psychic from a Mega Gardevoir does about 30%. A Superpower from the Azumarill is a 2HKO, but goes up to a 3HKO is Heatran has any defensive investement (which it usually does), so it is very difficult to take down.

Well that’s it. I hope my team is at least decent (I need it to be at its best because I’m in the Spring Seasonals). I’d really like some advice because I love this team and I want it to be the best possible. Thanks for reading!

Hey there! Interesting looking team, here's a rate:

Focus Blast on Mega Gardevoir is gonna be much more useful than Energy Ball because it hits Steel-types very hard. Hidden Power Fire is nice for catching Scizor on the switch and for Doublade so I definitely recommend using both. Hyper Voice is a really powerful attack and you don't lose much by using it instead of Energy Ball. You're not gonna have issues with Water as you have Calm Mind Clefable, and Energy Ball isn't really gonna be your win condition vs Ground. Psyshock is preferred over Psychic because it hits Pokemon on the physical side which is useful for Pokemon like AV Conkeldurr and Tentacruel and you already have three oter moves that hit on the special side. With Next thing I recommend is changing the nature to Timid as it has a really nice Speed tier which you don't wanna miss out on.
  • Focus Blast > Energy Ball
  • Psyshock > Psychic
  • Timid > Modest
So the first thing I notice when I look at your Sylveon set is that you have a Choice Scarf with so Speed investment, and you're running Toxic and Heal Bell. I highly recommend you change the set to a Choice Specs set with Hidden Power Ground and Shadow Ball as it's last two moves. Shadow Ball is a decent coverage move as Sylveon doesn't get many moves. Hidden Power Ground is useful for not getting walled by Heatran, and hitting other Steel types in general. You do miss out on hitting Scizor but you're gonna have checks for that which I'll get to later on in the rate. A
  • Choice Specs > Choice Scarf
  • Hidden Power Ground > Toxic
  • Shadow Ball > Heal Bell
I don't know what you mean by "Choice Scarf Togekiss doesn't work". It works pretty fine and you don't need to Roost. By giving it a Choice Scarf you make sure it outspeeds everything except faster Choice Scarf users and Deoxys-S, making Air Slash flinching more effective. Togekiss also has access to coverage that Fairy appreciates such as Fire Blast and Aura Sphere, and it can cripple walls with Trick, especially useful for the Chansey+Porygon2 core on Normal. So that's the set I'd recommend since you don't have a Choice Scarf user on your team. However if you really insist on not using Choice Scarf Togekiss, try out Babiri Berry with the same three attacks and Roost over Trick. Babiri Berry decreases the damage from Steel-type moves meaning that you can live an attack from Mega Scizor and take it out with Fire Blast.
  • Choice Scarf / Babiri Berry > Life Orb
  • Fire Blast > Thunder Wave
Azumarill is a really good Belly Drum sweeper on Fairy because it gets screen support from Klefki so I definitely suggest you change your set to Belly Drum with Aqua Jet, Play Rough and Knock Off. Superpower is also an option for hitting Steel and bulky Normal types but it's usually not needed and Knock Off is a very solid coverage option that hits anything that the other two moves don't and gets rid of the foe's item.
  • Sitrus Berry > Expert Belt
  • Belly Drum > Ice Fang
  • Aqua Jet > Waterfall
  • Knock Off > Superpower
A Calm Mind variant of Clefable shouldn't have maximum SpD investment. I notice you also don't have any HP investment which isn't going to help you at all in tanking hits. Change the set to max HP and max Defense so you're as bulky as possible on both sides once you set up with Calm Mind. Thunder Wave is a better utility option over Toxic, however you might want Stealth Rock instead which is very useful for breaking sashes and damaging Pokemon upon switch-in. Flamethrower is a solid option on Clefable however you have enough Steel checks on your team as it is.
  • 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD w/ Bold Nature > 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD w/ Calm Nature
  • Thunder Wave / Stealth Rock > Toxic
Light Clay is definitely the preferred item on Klefki for a longer duration on dual screens. That mixed defensive spread is odd. I recommend running max Defense to check Mega Scizor better and to do so you're also gonna need to add Foul Play over Spikes.
  • Light Clay > Leftovers
  • 248 HP / 252 Def/ 8 SpD > 108 HP / 200 Def / 200 SpD
  • Foul Play > Spikes

There is most certainly a point in trace.

You don't want to be swept by Sand Rush Excadrill, do you?
