Lime
Favorite Pokémon: Gardevoir
Most used Pokémon: Krookodile
Most known for: Terrorizing the ru ladder with grassy terrain.
My search for the Feliburn Chronicles had led me to a 1800s town in the middle of the desert. Needing a place to shack up for the night, i decided to ask at the town pub for some sort of lodging.
I ordered a lemonade at the bar while I waited for a room to free up. The pub was busy at this time of the day, and I could barely hear my thoughts over the gargle of the people present. In due time, I was informed that a room was empty. As i picked my things up and made my way to my quarters however, I heard a crash. Someone had sent a chair flying, evidently over some stupid disagreement.
"tch, a bar fight." I thought. "time to make myself scarce before it escal-"
"DOMAIN EXPANSION: GRASSY SURGE"
it was like i'd been catapulted into a lush garden full of plants and flowers. About 12 other men lay unconscious before me, all surrounding the user of the domain.
With no other options left, i decided to engage the mysterious figure in conversation before i got turned into compost.
Hello lime, how have you been?
Sup brother, I'm doing good. Hope it's the same for you
I'm doing well too, thanks for asking. Would you like to formally introduce yourself to the fans?
Yeah sure. I'm Tanish, a 18 yo from India. Currently I'm in freshmen year studying computer science and I like to play pokemon.
Very interesting. So, what got you into pokemon in the first place?
Sooo back in 2021, me and my friends wanted to battle out with each other with our bw2 teams and then we found ps. Since they I just kinda have been on and off ps mostly playing rands and using vgc teams in dou lol. In 2023 tho I started playing seriously and started playing ru because it had my favorite pokemon in it, the community was really nice and I been kind of a ru mainer since then.
Yeah, you've had a pretty meteoric rise for someone who only just got into the competitive scene a year ago. Congrats on scl btw! How does it feel to be gearing up for the big leagues?
Thanks bro. Feels nice to get in and excited to play in the smogon big stage. The team environment is epic aswell so I've been liking it far.
That's awesome, I'm 100% looking forward to seeing your games. Of course since youre someone who's kept up with the sv meta since its early days, how do you feel about the way RU this gen has developed?
RU has developed pretty nicely this gen. From the slowbro krookodile dominated tier to the slowbro krookodile dominated tier. LOL. Most ru metas have been p nice in my opinion. It mostly felt like a cycle of HO spikes when new stuff drops like dlcs / ru alpha and then after a while it goes back to being a bulkyish meta. It will be interesting to see how it develops from now on since they are no big drops left to come.
LMAO yeah it's funny how things work lol not long ago it was kilowattrel that ruled this tier. Of course, as you are someone who is known to innovate in the builder, what is your take on the whole building vs playing conundrum?
I think SV is a gen which feels like it's played more in the builder than in game. Tera on its own is big and adds more depth in teambuilding and a lot more mindgames in the battle.
And what are your opinions on tera? What do you find to be some creative ways to utilise the mechanic?
Tera is a very interesting mechanic. I'm pro tera but anti tera blast, imo if you remove tera blast you still get the positive aspect of tera while somewhat removing most of cheesy aspect of tera. I think I haven't much explored the more creative side of tera but some of my favourites include like tera blast volcanion, tera electric mew.
Yeah mew in general synergizes incredibly with tera as we've seen in the past few weeks. Coming back to you though, who would you say are the users who really got you invested and competing in ru?
Mhm, I'd say it was probably Feliburn / TheFranklin in start when I started playing the tier as they were the 2 big ru players to me. After that It's Beraldo as he got me in two tours consecutively (heartbreaking close losses in both) , also guided me a lot.
And what do you think of the current ru crop? Anyone that catches your eye?
There's been a influx of new people in ru community in recent months and that leaves us with a number of new people rn who are promising and constantly improving. Particularly I will say like Chungler, FP, Tsuki, Ming. Seed Sower and Flab have also been performing good recently. Probably someone I'm missing LOL there's a lot of ppl rn.
You managed the fino fennekins to a semifinal appearance in rugl(great tour btw). How different was the experience from going into a tour as a player?
Going from a player to manager is v different experience as usually as a player im just prepping my slot mainly but as manager you have to make sure all the slots on the team have a good team while also motivating the team as the tour goes. I personally won't enjoy being a manager now but it was pretty fun when I had more free time.
It's a shame we won't see manager lime anytime soon lol. I'm sure you're guarding your current teams very carefully since scl is on right now, but do you potentially have an interesting team from a past meta you'd like to share?
GRASSY TERRAIN

This was a team i used vs hjk in rupl semis, it was one of the teams I put more effort into building.I really liked this one because it had nice matchup into a lot of stuff and used some pcool mons in the meta at the time like alolan muk.I also like spikestack a lot in general in sv
What was your thought process while building this team?
I wanted a team with some longetivity and hazards for this matchup as hjk generally likes to use fatter teams. Gligar + Taunt Volcanion + Muk were a nice starting core for that as gligar has toxic which is v helpful, taunt volcanion is jesus vs fat and muk also has toxic + knock off. After that I added the evergreen cyclizar, terrakion because I needed a rocker with some offensive pressure and jirachi for wish support. I really like this jirachi set because it was so good and lowkey broken. I later ended up changing taunt volcanion to roar because suicune matchup wasn't really nice.
Guess I found what I'll be using for ru pentathlon lol. My last question to you is this: would you like to show us a particular game/series that you enjoyed playing?
Haha I have a bunch of memorable series that I've enjoyed playing but the one that I have enjoyed / loved the most is my series vs TheFranklin in the RU Penthalon of last year.
(Lime vs TheFranklin) It was very exciting to play him and it was also like the first victory vs a very strong player which gave me a lot of confidence. I also built the SV team i used so it was pretty cool to see it win with some fun techs.
Oh yeah it's always hype to put yourself on the map by taking on a great player. Before we close though, I gotta ask you; What would you rather fight? A mudsdale sized ducklett or 10 ducklett sized mudsdales?
ducklett sized mudsdales for sure I ain't fighting a 920 kgs ducklett bro LMFAO
Fair fair. Thank you for your time lime, good luck with scl!
Thanks bro, was a fun one
